What are the Arsenal/Man City bets? One for the FA Cup and one for the league?
-
I don't think he'd come. Which is why I voted for Moyes. I think him and Rodgers are realistic (ish) and I'd be happy with either. That said. It's not like we've listed Mourinho. Benitez is like second or third fav with the bookies and there are media reports saying he is supposedly on our shortlist and would be interested. Whether you believe them or not, is another thing. But I don't think it's that far fetched.

Shearer and Keegan both stick up for our managers and it should be expected. Both have worked for the club, both have been treated s*** by the club and both will expect that the same things are happening to others that happened to them. He should be unleashing on Ashley, then. I may be wrong, but he always seems to dig out the players, first. I know he said the club is a mess from top to bottom. But if the manager is going to get a free pass, then why aren't the players? Just focus all your hate on Fat Mike.
-
Yes he is. Sounds like he's publicly shaming the players to get a rise out of them. Something our current manager is incapable of doing. love shearer but as always he gives the manager a free ride and puts it all on the players if a proper manager walked through the door today we'd see a massive change in these players imo Do you think that, because he 'failed' when he managed us. He doesn't dare criticise the manager? I always find it odd that he never points out how bad our managers have been. Either that, or he doesn't want it to be awkward when he bumps into these people in football circles.
-
Did he have full say? I thought Benteke was the first time that he was allowed to get his man? Not exactly a success story But I was under the impression they had a similar transfer set up to us?

Got tickets for the derby. As I have only been to one game in the last couple of years and a mate really wanted to go. I'm also taking a friend from across the pond, to his first NUFC games. Palace at home and Villa away we'll probably be relegated by then If we keep McClaren. I'll find it extremely difficult to turn up for any of those matches. I've stayed away because of Pardew, Carver and Ashley. But I had missed SJP at times. In hindsight, I'm glad I stopped going. We're a complete shambles and it's not getting any better, any time soon. Joke of a club.
-
Well. Hopefully McClaren isn't. Unless he is just back to pick up his stuff and clear his desk.
-
Pretty sure that I read they're not in for training today? As we don't play Leicester until the Monday, they start their training week tomorrow, instead?
-
I have never been a huge fan of Moyes. But I think he would be an upgrade over McClaren. Longer term, I think Rodgers would be a decent appointment. But he's such a bellend, so it's hard to get excited about him coming here. After that, who is there that fits the bill? Garry Monk, maybe?
-
I can't see how he survives this. Most the media are saying he should walk/be sacked. The match going fans have finally turned against him. The man looks broken, and worryingly, a bit unwell. I think it's best for all parties involved. One way or the other, he has to go.
-
Keep seeing Nigel Pearson being linked. Would he actually be any better? Got a decent Leicester side out of the Championship. Just about kept them up last season and now he's gone, Ranieri has taken them to a completely different level. I see people in the media saying Pearson deserves a lot of credit for laying the foundations etc. But I don't think I'd want him and I don't particularly rate him as a manager. I remember his Pardew moment, when trying to have a scrap with James McCarthur and I remember him getting into a slanging match with some Leicester fans, as well. Still, I do kind of like him for that Ostrich comment I think the only realistic targets I'd be happy with, are Moyes and Rodgers.

I know she always goes for shock value and extreme opinions. In order to get maximum attention and airtime. But Katie Hopkins is defending Adam Johnson on twitter http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/katie-hopkins-blasted-calling-adam-7505642 I'm usually not one to use this term. But she really is an oxygen thief.

That interview man. What a whooper Gets all arsey about a question regarding his subs. Then says he's getting stroppy because they need to move on from talking about the penalty?! Well, which is it? He's lost the plot. Hilarious seeing him crack like that. Oh and even when he is taking responsibilty. He still manages to blame others. "Yeah, the subs weren't very good today. They didn't play well or affect the game. So I have to take responsibility for that." Nice way to alienate your players, Alan.
-
At the minute. We don't appear to have any tactics. McClaren is still figuring out how to set us up, 28 games into the season FFS I think anything from Benitez would be an improvement. He'd make us harder to beat in the short term and hopefully develop some sort of identity, in the long term. All moot, though. I don't think he'd come and I doubt we'd approach him.
-
The chants are a bit shit, TBH. But if the fans are going to persevere with them. I hope they get some new ones. The "going down for noncing" one, was sung about 5 times in the first 20 minutes at Stoke

I really don't get why it's always "2 games to save his job." "If Newcastle lose on Saturday, He'll be sacked." We read all of this before the WBA game and we had it all the while with Carver, as well. If it's not just speculation and made up bollocks. Then what's the point in dragging it out? Can they not see, that after 27 games or whatever, that he's not good enough? Are they expecting everything to just click into place and for us to go on a 6 game winning streak and stay up with a bit to spare? As it stands, we're going down. Even if we win on Saturday, it doesn't suddenly mean McClaren is the right man for the job. Like the WBA game, it's as if they're basing his ability as a manager, on a one off game. As opposed to the entire 20 odd games that proceeded it IMO, it's going down to the wire and we won't be safe or down, until right near the end of the season. We're going to run out of points to play for, if we leave it any longer. Sack him after Bournemouth whether we win, lose or draw.

Some of the comments on there.

We need to make 2-3 changes. Saivet for Cack Jogback, Perez for Gouffran and maybe even Doumbia for Mitro/Sissoko. I don't think we'll change much, though. Maybe Townsend back in for Gouff, if he's fit. What happened to Tiote? Is he injured and all? Saivet has no chance of starting games with this twat in charge. But I really don't ever want to see last night's midfield pairing, again.

Mondial Sport come up trumps again. http://www.transfermarkt.com/mondial-sport-management-amp-consulting-sarl/beraterfirma/berater/2106 Actually a bit scary and worrying how Mondial Sport manage so many players, former players and players we players we have been linked with.

You haven't watched many of our away games, have you? As for the first line. I can kind of see your point. But even that fraud Pardew, would actually grind the occasional result out away from home. We've fluked a win against Bournemouth and beat Spurs with a last minute winner. TBF, at least we played well in the second half of that game. Apart from that, last night, was how I see us play away from home most weeks. The Everton and Chelsea games are still fresh in my mind and it's been going on far longer than that. I think we've known each other long enough across a couple of forums over the years for me not to have to answer that question. I'm not arguing the away form has been anything other than horrendous but tactically that was as bad as it has ever been for me last night. He's made dodgy decisions in the past like the 3 at the back v Watford away but a lot of those times he was hamstrung be selection. He tried something, it didn't work so you can sort of see the reasoning and move on. He had a number of better solutions last night and he completely bottled it against a side that were there to done. I watched that nonesense for seasons under Pardew and simply can't abide it now. He has to go. Fair enough. We must have seen different things, then. As for me, apart from the Arsenal game. I can't really remember any away games in the last few months, possibly even for the entire season? Where we haven't looked toothless, spineless and clueless, in equal measure. TBH. The performance that still resulted in a loss, from that Arsenal game, doesn't even look so great now. They have been shit for quite a while now and only won 2 prem games since we played them at the start of January.
-
In his defence, he has apparently been playing through and ankle injury this season. Sounds like he was a last minute decision for last night, as well. So with some of the gutless wankers we've had in the past, it's nice that he wants to actually fight for the cause and play through injuries. Not really helping if he's going to play so badly, though.
-
Bournemouth will beat us this weekend anyway. They are a far better footballing team than we are. They remind me a bit of Swansea when they were first promoted in terms of having a defined plan and style of play. They know what they are and they're well drilled. How we beat them away, I'll never know. They played us off the park. I agree with that and all. The problem is, I can see us sneaking a win or getting a draw. That will be good enough to keep him here.
-
Pretty much my thoughts, as well. Plus I'll win £80 if we sack him, so it's a double bonus.
-
Been hot and cold for a while and even when playing badly, he was still our only attacking threat and would create chances. For quite a while now, he has been absolute dog shite. His first touch and ability on the ball in tight spaces, is horrendous for a top flight footballer. Always just tries to run through people and can't cross for shit, either. He just looks so disinterested and tends to just go through the motions. When he was clean through the other night and let the defender get goal side of him I'd be tempted to drop him. But you could say that for half of the team and I don't even know who we'd replace him with?
