  1. I thought quite a few were keen on Shelvey? I got the impression most on here were happy with the signing? I do find this forum a bit bi-polar at times. The relegation thread and views on how we've played are extremely up and down. But most forums I have visited are no different overall and it's Newcastle United FFS! The whole f***ing club is suffering from some sort of split personality disorder. So it's no surprise it's like that on here. The general consensus with Shelvey was 'meh', just like Townsend now. I totally get the annoyance and frustration and refusal to accept Ashley's ownership, we all know we won't win f*** all with this set up, so who on earth are we supposed to target!? Shelvey - meh Townsend - meh Gomis - not good enough Lacazette - he won't come here It's frigging mind numbing at times. Well TBF, I agree with 3 out of the 4 there. So I'm a doom monger and I'm negative. I've maybe got a bit more of an open mind on Townsend. Only because I'm a sucker for direct players with pace. I can't say I'm particularly optimistic that he'll do well for us, though. Maybe with a run of games he will. But it's not like we're in a position to get him up to speed and carry him.

  4. Bit of a weird point to make? Seeing as it looks like he clearly didn't want to come here?! He loves it here so much, that after less than 6 months, he wants to go back home. He supposedly went and asked OM to loan him back FFS and has decided he's had enough, after the fans gave him a bit of stick. He's not had too many chances, granted. But it's not like he's done a lot to warrant getting better players out the team. First sign of trouble, he wants to leave? It was rumoured/reported at the time that the offer was too good for OM to turn down and the player had previously rejected the chance to sign for us, on more than one occasion. Certainly looks like that was the case. We bought a slow, weak as p*ss winger, for £13m-14m and had been panned by French fans and journos. Certainly looks like an offer that's too good to refuse. It's not as if money alone never motivates players, either. I remember reading a bit from Luque. Where he said he had no interest whatsoever to sign for us. Then we offered some ridiculous deal and he couldn't believe how much we were offering him and decided to make the switch. As for the fake bids stuff. I don't think we make fake bids, no. I do think we release bullshit stories however and that we're happy for agents, clubs and journos to name drop. It tricks fans into thinking we're actually doing something. This window seems a bit different, as we're desperate. But the Lacazette rumour is very strange and doesn't make much sense. The player has said he's not leaving in Jan, wants a CL club, supposedly already turned us down a few times. Yet we're making another approach?! Odd.
  5. Pats went into that game with an 18-0 record. The Giants came in as a wildcard, with a 10-6 record. Oh and no way Eli Manning was/is better than Tom Brady. I have no idea what you're getting at? In what way were they the 'best team?' The best team for that one off game? Yes. Better team and quarterback over the course of 16-20 games? No way. I love the playoff set up for American sports, where you have different conferences and a s*** load of teams. I don't see the need for it in England, when we have league systems that work well, with the current format. The record books show that we won like. The fact you think that's what this argument is about says it all. Yeah. He's either somehow totally missed the point or being a hilarious WUM.....

  7. We had about 4 players in the vicinity, all doing fuck all. Ighalo falls over, whilst half controlling it, Cathcart shins it in. That game sums us up. Can't score for shit and constantly concede awful goals.
  8. My mate was raving about Shelvey the other week. So I have no reason to not believe him. I think he was right near the front and all. However. I wouldn't have thought he'd be so quick to fall out with fans. Especially not after the way he went on after his last game for Swansea.
  9. looks like a Harry Potter house emblem. Awful.
  10. He's also had 873 shots at goal. 23 on target.
  11. that's exactly how I thought of it and all. I honestly couldn't give a toss either way. I'm glad he's fired up and pissed off with playing badly. Would be better to just ignore it, like. But a lot of players would probably just shrug or laugh it off.

    Steve McClaren

I'm not sure it will ever be Pardew levels of disgust and hatred. But this bloke is fucking awful. Reads from the same script every week and it's infuriating. No idea how to change things, if our supposed 'plan' isn't working, which is exactly the same as Pardew. Has a team with some pretty talented players, in serious danger of getting relegated. We should be a good few places higher IMO. Standard disclaimer about nothing changes until Ashley goes. But McClaren is doing a terrible job with what he has available.
  13. So my mate got in a right strop about Shelvey. Text me saying that he's a right prick and he played shit. Reckons one of our fans was telling Jonjo to lift his corners and get more height on it, as he wasn't clearing the first man. I'm sure he said this in a slightly more aggressive way, mind Shelvey turned round and told him to fuck off If he ends up helping us get enough points to stay up. I'm not sure that I give a fuck about him swearing in the heat of the moment. I'm sure he was pretty frustrated at how badly he played and how shit we were in general.
  14. I like him, but he's never going to be prolific and he looks shot to bits at the minute. Low on confidence and playing in a team that concedes shit goals on a regular basis and doesn't create a great deal anyway. Not really the best combo. Sign a striker or we're down. I was saying the other day, we've already got two more players in than I expected. So I was quite pleased with the window so far. But I just don't see us scoring on a regular basis, unless we get a goalscorer in.
  15. We need a pacey striker, that can stretch the defence and offer something different to Mitro. I'm not sure Gomis fits the bill he's the complete opposite to what we need.
  16. I'm a lot more confident now we've signed Shelvey and Saivet. Will mean it won't be Anita and Colback every week. I didn't expect much from the window. So signing two decent players is pretty good IMO. Even if I did have low standards. Still a massive gamble not getting a striker in, mind.
  17. I get what you mean. But I'm not sure what we are, if Watford are very shit
  18. http://i.imgur.com/zp0Tl.gif Errr. No. As for the comments about no helmets for American Football. Concussion rates and serious injuries would go up, IMO. It's nothing like Rugby in how the game is controlled and methodical. You have people running in all different directions, all fixated on the ball, from a standing start, to full sprint. A lot of the time, this is over long distances. It's 0-100 in seconds. Every deep pass over the middle, would probably involve someone being stretchered off Plus all of the collisions at the line, blitzing players getting blindsided, crackbacks etc etc. Beren's favourite team have it right when it comes to tackling: http://www.seahawks.com/video/2015/06/11/2015-seahawks-tackling?appsrc=sc
  19. It actually annoys me TBH. How can such a spaz, get a decent job like that?

    Sunderland

Ayew for £4m and Borini, is a pretty great deal TBH. Borini is utter shit and Ayew is quality. I still don't get why he would go to sunderland, though? If he's available, you would have thought there will be much better clubs in for him? No doubt they'll offer him some bloated deal and a huge signing fee.
  21. I can't find it. But I think it was more than just that. It was a Who's Scored strengths and weaknesses list.
  22. There is, aye. Usually spouted by that TCD fellow.
  23. Been awhile since I've seen the old, "I can't be racist, I have a black mam" excuse. Astroblack was in an argument once and he said "How can I hate women (and blacks), my Mum's one". Yeah? There's a lot of truth in that.
  24. A complete guess. But in Perez's position? I don't think Mitro would be dropped for him. I can't see us going 4-4-2 anytime soon and I wouldn't want us to. Gini is far too good in the free role, to be dropped back into centre mid. I don't think a midfield pairing of him and Shelvey would work, either.
