Hope we go for Sturridge. Not only would he keep us up but he’d been a long term player for us. Doubts about his fitness but he'd be great for us if we could get him. I'll overlook the stupid celebration as long as he's scoring the goals to keep us up.

Should sue her for copying our transfer policy tbh.

I agree. More pro-Rafa for me. Show our support for him and the team until he leaves. That's been my sentiment amongst the group. Aye Show Rafa and the team we're behind them no matter what, stay united. Plenty of other vectors to attack Ashley. -
Why not just let Carrick announce it himself? Probably didn't know he was 'retiring'

10 Million tax @ 200% on a 100 miilion business seems cheap It's just based on the tax we didn't pay, not the whole lot. The papers said we'd avoided £5m of tax fraudulently so they could fine us 200% of £5m.

Binding the HMRC investigation to the clauses, therefore holding Ashley accountable beyond the completion of the season (if relegation is avoided), is entirely justified. They need to cover their arse, beyond the current campaign, depending how serious the investigation becomes. My reading, Ashley is attempting to skip town, free from any liability (as a result of the club's alleged practices, under his watch). The guy has some cheek. I'd say the Champions League clause was the only one which remotely interested him. A $50m backslap for him if the club fulfilled it's potential, a position which Ashley has no interest in attaining. It's a nice pay-off to receive, off the back of your successor's hard work (and future investment into a rundown asset). I wonder what the relegation penalty clause was in that £350m second bid. That seems pretty much everything he wanted assuming it's not too onerous.

As far as I can tell from this link, the most severe penalty HMRC can issue is a fine of 200% of the tax due which in our case would be £10m iirc. That's the worst case scenario from that side of things anyway, i'm not sure how you'd write a clause covering FA penalties like points deductions (which seem fairly unlikely anyway).
-
Aye Now it's all in the public domain though it's a good chance to start ratcheting up the pressure on Ashley.
-
Be a great signing if it was 2010.

Dunno, like. £300m is a pretty fair price, meet halfway at £325m and everyone goes home happy. I'm no Ashley fan but £250m is a pretty bad offer for NUFC as it stands. Dunno what that's for. £250m for one of the best supported PL clubs with a 52k seater stadium, massive potential and TV deals rolling in isn't a great price. Pretty much everyone in this thread so far agreed that wouldn't get it done so wind your neck in Doc Hollywood.

I don't think anyone would blame him if he fucked it off but he's got too much integrity for that. End of the season probably and nobody can blame him. We'll just be left with this circus again. LAWRIE SANCHEZ' BLACK AND WHITE ARMY.

I think it will, and thank fuck for that. Apart from Dokko. He was spot on
-
So she basically had £250m to spend and when that wasn't enough the whole thing was fucked. Her backers weren't prepared to put any more than that in and that was never going to be enough to get the deal done.

I'm pretty sure he's not top of the wishlist, like
-
I'm getting the impression she had a large group of investors chucking in £50m here and £50m there, not a single very wealthy individual or company. It might be the case that they're not willing to increase their stake and thus she's unable to increase her offer any further.

Think you forgot the [ img] tags Nah, I went back and edited them to just the link when the IMG tags were just showing a blank thumbnail. Weird. I had to remove the 's' from 'https' in the URL to get that one to work, it happens sometimes with giphy i've found. Probably thomas' fault.

Think you forgot the [ img] tags On why none of our managers have rated Saivet, Galtier had this to say about him: Seems like maybe his attitude isn't right.

Wor mojo getting about If the reports of the £300m bid are true then I reckon that's a fair enough price considering the danger we're in at the moment. Like fuck would I accept a relegation clause if I was Ashley, though, the £300m already reflects a discounted price factoring in the possibility of relegation in his eyes. He'd be assuming a big chunk of riskfor what would no longer be an asset he has an interest in, it's all downside for him. He'd probably take £300m in installments without the relegation clause, hopefully there's still some way to get this done even if it means PCP taking on the relegation risk themselves. Some decent results on the pitch might help too.
-
Got it, cheers

Twitter embeds aren't showing the link to the tweet anymore. Minor but annoying.
-
If it doesn't, and it becomes apparent that PCP have pulled out completely, then I'm going to be very conflicted. I'm going to want us to get relegated but then I don't want to lose games while Rafa is in charge. I'll back Rafa 100% for however long he's here. After that it's open season.
-
I'd be happy with that if the revenue was still shared. Allowing each club to do it on an individual basis is just a recipe for the rich to get richer and leave the rest even further behind.
-
We'd have to pay actual money for that to happen. I know, and it would be a large amount, but I don’t think it would be as large as it would be if we got someone else. Have you considered signing nobody? Looking at the calibre of players we are supposedly targeting, it might not be the worst option. Definitely seems to be the one Charnley has been authorised to pursue. He'd improve us I think, certainly better than our current options. Fits the 'young with resale value' profile too. It's doubtful we'd pay anywhere near what Celtic will ask for him though unless we got rid of Gayle and Mitro for a combined £20m and chucked it at them. Errrmmm Yeah, I just got it I was on about Dembele fwiw.
