Sudden retirement of club legend Defoe is going down well on RTG…the fewm is glorious…. “He’s fucked us over for signing if he couldn’t do the job.“ “traitor“ “He’s completely fucked us over“ “He’s 50% of our strikers who’s decided he doesn’t want to was signed short term to take part in 17 games. After 10 he doesn’t want to anymore. If it was a builder doing your house & he decided halfway through, after invoicing he didn’t want to do the rest of the job would you feel let down? Couldn’t get anyone else in for a few months. Would you ask the electrician to do it? He’s not here to do us a favour. We’re employing him to play football.” “I agree with we haven’t helped ourselves, but I expect a commitment from him. If there was any doubt in his mind he shouldn’t have signed. If he’s injured, fair enough. If it’s because he feels he’s not playing to standard, that’s the job of the manager & coaching staff to decide. I can’t believe anyone who expected more than 10-15mins per game. Including him. If he’s not up to that he was reckless in signing his contract. Put it this way, I wonder how much we’ve paid him. I also wonder how many dafties bought Defoe shirts under the assumption he’d play for us for more than 5mins.” “Can we not sue the fcuker for breach of contract?” “He has let us down in my opinion, and nobody will change that. Seems like nothing more than a publicity stunt. One last dance my arse.” “Agree he has let us down big time. Sod the memories, football is about the here and now, wouldn't p1ss on him if he was on fire now.”

Rashford is on nowhere near £350k. More like half that.

Who? Viana or Jenas? Viana has spoken well about us: “And though things did not turn out the way he had hoped for on a personal level, Viana speaks just as fondly about the Newcastle fans and his former team-mates. The Magpies finished third and fifth in the Premier League during Viana’s two seasons at the club and also went close in the UEFA Cup, losing to a Didier Drogba-inspired Marseille in the semi-final in 2004. Though Robson wasn’t quite able to end their long wait for silverware, Viana says everything was set up at that time for success. “It was the same with the two captains at the club, Alan Shearer and Gary Speed. They were very good for all the young players because they encouraged us and understood that it can take time to play your best. “I had a very good relationship with Shola Ameobi and Jermaine Jenas, but my closest friend was Nobby Solano because of the language. He spoke Spanish and I could speak a little bit, too. “He was really funny; him and (Lomana) Lua Lua were always joking and laughing. He would sing and play his trumpet, while Lua Lua did his African dancing. “Solano always brought his trumpet to training, but he couldn’t play it all the time because Bobby would say it was too loud! “Training was always great fun. I remember we would play a game against each other, and whoever was the worst player from the game would have to wear a yellow shirt the next day. Every day, we would write the date and something funny about that player. “And I have nothing bad to say against the fans. Sometimes it was difficult to play for them, for example in the last few games of my second season, but when things were going well, they were amazing and when things were not, they still stayed with us and supported the team. “Fans in Portugal can learn a lot from them about how to behave; we don’t have the culture of always supporting the team and when you lose there it can get dangerous. Not only for you but also your family. “But my parents and my wife were made to feel very comfortable in Newcastle. I can’t say anything bad about the people.”” https://www.planetfootball.com/in-depth/hugo-viana-on-turning-down-liverpool-for-sir-bobby-life-at-newcastle/

I’m not the most tactically minded of folk, but isn’t the #10 the middle player of that forward 3? Going with a 4231, it seems a natural fit to have a playmaker type there?

Presumably this?: https://amp.usatoday.com/amp/2782712002

Man Utd have been linked with Nunez too, and could easily afford the fee, even more so if Ronaldo leaves.
-
Cresswell sub was a concussion sub so doesn’t count
-
? He’s been one of our best players man. A couple of honest mistakes and you want him out? And replace him with who? Lascelles?
-
Talked bollocks too, other than saying Bruno has been excellent.
-
Slow though. Worrying.
-
Out on basis of age? What- where’s this from? Maguire, Coady, Mings are all 29, currently the same as Burn.

Nope, just ‘touch and go’ with likely a last minute decision. -
Relatively speaking….Steve Bruce?
-
He’s going to Inter in the summer when his contract expires.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-10616249/Minister-investigate-assurances-Newcastle-United-gave-Premier-League-Saudi-role-club.html What are the odds this is going to go badly wrong, with no specific evidence of assurances or something equally shit, but was simply rushed through by the PL because of the legal fight and resolution of the Bein issue?

There’d have been “slaps” flying around for sure.

We were linked/made a bid in January, iirc. £33m?
-
Cool. We’ll take FDJ.
-
If he was obscured, how could he give the corner?
-
Hadn’t heard the London thing. Thought he joined CP purely because he’d be more likely to be starting there and therefore learning more, as opposed to being behind Phillips, Klitsch, etc at Leeds? Doubt he’d either be able to move via sanctions etc, or Chelsea want him to, in fairness, anyway.
-
Or PSG / Bayern. The latter need a Sule replacement.

Issue being that Krafth has always at least tried, despite his lack of ability in comparison to others. Alli seems to have the ability (at least he did have a few years ago), but his application is severely lacking- a manager can only do so much in that regard, as Mourinho, Conte, Nuno have all found out. Appears like Lampard is now possibly having the same issue- I’m unsure about fitness issues, but Alli hasn’t played much other than sub appearances I think? it just screams that he’s simply lost the will to even want to be good again. Shame, but I’m glad we dodged the bullet, personally.
