  1. When we need other positions upgrading and replacing first, yes. Schar will be 32 in December, so you’d think he’s only got another season or two max left as first choice.
  2. Good player but linked to Man City, PSG, Juve and Spurs this week alone. Reckon we’d struggle to match their wages, plus he’d be wanting to be a starter, and I think we’d be after someone to develop and step in when needed initially.
  3. Wonder if he’d make the famous Tyne/Wear transfer thread on RTG if he ever signed for us…? ??
  4. Always said Keane was worth his £30m transfer fee…
  5. Penalty for spurs. Everton throwing this away.

You forgot them also having the best/classiest/most admired fans in the world. Surely that’s like playing with an extra man, compared to their competition.
  7. Knutsen was heavily linked at the same time as De Zerbi. I’m sure he’ll get a move to England sooner or later.
  8. Can see Chelsea waiting until summer for Simeone.
  9. Probably just doing the groundwork for a summer De Ligt / Pavard / Alphonso £1bn triple swoop.
  10. Wonder if Alex will start hoying his dads name about again like he did with the Man Utd job…?
  11. “Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle to sign Independiente del Valle’s 15 year-old midfielder Kendry Paez. The deal, believed to be worth €20m, has not yet been completed but Chelsea are set to beat off a number of top European clubs to Paez’s signing. Once completed, Paez will officially join Chelsea in the summer of 2025 after he turns 18 - and will stay with his current club until then. Paez is currently impressing for Ecuador U17 in the South American U17 Championship. He has been described as a “generational talent” and “better than Endrick”, who has signed for Real Madrid. Paez plays for the same club Moises Caicedo did before he joined Brighton.” (Sky Sports)
  12. Nkunku has already signed too, remember. (Supposedly)
  13. Wages are the big problem with Mount. He’s already turned down Chelsea’s offer of £170kpw and is supposedly wanting £240kpw. Can see him going to Liverpool, personally.
  14. Linked to him under Bruce, but we splashed out entire budget on Willock instead and Cajuste moved elsewhere. Was linked to Leeds and Brentford too at the time.
  15. If things go well? If Bruno is currently on £125kpw and they’re talking about a new contract already, it’s likely that he’ll be on around £200kpw this summer regardless.
  16. I’m sure that figure will be more than possible, (given we’re supposedly giving Bruno a pay rise and he’s on around £125k), but wouldn’t Philips be wanting a lot more than what he’s currently on in order to move? There would have be an incentive (more than just playing time) for him to leave Man City and multiple title/cup winning potential to come to us, I’d have thought?
  17. Purely depends on circumstance. Botman and Ekitike both dragged on for AGES man.
  18. Just saw the Gibraltar captain is 40, and they have a 41 year old who plays up front in the squad. Got to be up there for some of the oldest international players, surely?
  19. I’d heard he (dad) supported Newcastle, but it sounds like he just liked us because of Shearer more than anything? “My dad has always been a big football fan, he supported Newcastle because he loved Alan Shearer.” who knows? (Other than I don’t think he’s got any particular affection for us?)

Ah….. “Cheaper season tickets, bigger gates, more merch and catering sold to make up the difference. Voila' !” ??
  21. His dad (he liked Shearer, rather than being a Newcastle fan) took him to a few games, but I think he’s actually an Arsenal fan himself, having been there from 7 years old and growing up in London. He’s certainly never mentioned any affection for Newcastle in the media, I don’t think? https://www.givemesport.com/1585380-bukayo-saka-10-things-you-may-not-know-about-arsenals-breakthrough-star/ “Both of his parents are Nigerian and migrated to London for work. Both of Saka’s parents declared their support for Arsenal, and was part of the reason they moved to the capital. Saka has been a lifelong Arsenal fan, too.”

“But do agree if we absolutely maxed match day exp. with slightly cheaper tickets we’d easy get 50,000” ?? don’t their accounts show that income vs alleged attendance means the current tickets are averaging less than £10 or something?

    Scott McTominay

Agreed. But I think the general consensus is that our club should be looking at signing players to take us to the ‘next level’ rather than a ‘squad filler’ like McTominay seems to be. Especially for the price he’d undoubtedly cost from a current rival.
