His current deal runs until summer 2024. He’ll sign a new Arsenal contract way before then.
-
And? Every player must be amazing and world class? Nearly every fan on here doesn’t want McTominay. I’d also take Bruno (who isn’t playing for Brazil at the moment) over Fred any day of the week.
-
Fred? The player who is regularly derided by both pundits and fans nearly every single week?
-
Latest hilarity is a 13 page thread all about them expanding the stadium and getting the CL final played there. ?♂️?
-
Simply can’t do that, especially with wages. We need to get rid of players and also massively increase turnover/sponsorship.
-
Maybe, but I don’t think they have elsewhere- might be wrong though. In standing areas, fans currently have to have an allocated seat (and hence standing area when the seat is upright). I think the issue is placing a structure in front of the seats so people can lean on it when standing. Unless they replace all the current seats with a ‘bench’ type seat to try and make space to stand? A fold up/down type seat would probably take up as much space as a bench seat, I’d have thought?
-
There isn’t any ‘conversion’ is there? Maybe just adding rails in front? I read that seats have to remain as they have in other grounds, so that people can still sit if they want to.
-
Poch got sacked - I don’t think he wanted out like Conte obviously did. He’s good friends with Levy still and he/his family still live in Hertfordshire.
-
Or Dele Alli even
-
Me too. For the alleged price of a JWP, you could get a Milenkovic-Savic. I’m sure the club knows who is the more ‘complete’ midfielder.
-
On the cheap? The article above says his price would be £40m+ after relegation.
-
Depth, yes. But at £40m+, he wouldn’t be coming to be a squad player.
-
£40m for a dead ball specialist? No thanks. Can’t see how he’d be perfect at all, especially for that price.
-
Me too. And that neither Chelsea win the CL or Man Utd win the EL, so that 4th place still gets a CL spot. ?Being in the CL would be a MASSIVE springboard for this club, and it’d be fucking appalling if we came 4th and missed out.
-
Arsenal with Arteta. IF he leaves Barca, which I doubt- they’ll wangle a way to keep him and get a new contract signed.
-
Spurs came 11th that year, but they won the League Cup and got to the semis of the FAC. Ginola scored 7, and had 11 assists.
-
Or when Bruce tried to swap Grealish for Jordan Rhodes…
-
At least the club won’t get any sporting sanctions or penalties from La Liga for the Negreira scandal (if found guilty, obviously). Guess UEFA/FIFA might have other ideas though.
-
10 games left. Is it worth sacking him for multi millions, when his contract is soon up anyway? Or will a new manager get a bounce to assist them to a CL place? Big decision for Levy, especially as he’s only got two weeks to get it right.
-
I think fans of his own team look deeply into their teams performances, like ours do. And it’s the media’s job to do that also, and to compare and contrast performances to those he’s playing alongside. The consequence of which is why the Manchester media has said McTominay needs to be replaced and isn’t worth a starting place. Not sure why you think you know better than both in this instance?
-
It’s hardly ‘nit picking’- that’s literally what fans of his own team say, as well as national media.

“Mctominay is hiding He's in the bottom 15% for passes played under pressure per game. If you can't rely on your pivot midfielders to recieve under pressure and split lines, you get matches where you're stuck in your own half all game...” https://www.trendsmap.com/twitter/tweet/1364236734704279553 “And while a desire to win and play for United is necessary, the real gap between United and their rivals is the quality of players in key positions. The very fact McTominay is a regular starter is a key example of this. In the first half against Arsenal, the midfielder only completed seven passes (24 by the end of the game at a completion rate of 71 per cent); that doesn't really look like understanding the fundamentals. In comparison, Juan Mata played for 11 minutes and completed 10 passes. This would be understandable if McTominay's defensive work was exemplary but he gave the ball away on multiple occasions outside the box and invited pressure upon the United defence.” https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mctominay-united-solskjaer-rangnick-midfield-23770000?int_source=amp_continue_reading&int_medium=amp&int_campaign=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target

Fair enough. But Willock was also being coached at the time by ‘Let’s Play!’ Bruce. McTominay is being coached by a multiple title and cup winning manager.
-
Willock was also a 21 year old whom had scored eight times in 14 Premier League appearances the season before Howe arrived, and who set a new record by becoming the youngest player to score in seven consecutive games. There was always potential there. McTominay is 27 at the end of this year, and has never had or fulfilled any semblance of potential, despite playing in a CL team nearly every season.
-
Especially for the price he’d cost.
