Yeah, I think we've punched above our weight here. Nice to see. He's a Spanish U-21 who's done the grand sum of f*** all in his career, we haven't fallen off that bad Christ! Give the guy a chance, he's only just turned 21. He's won Under 21 caps for Spain and secured a move to a club the size of Dortmund. That's not f*** all for a young player. This lad could easily turn out to be our best player. I don't disagree with any of that but similarly we aren't punching above our weight, that's been my only point of contention.

You beat Athletic for his signing though, who were willing to pay the fee upfront. That's gotta count for something. That's a fair comment, still wouldn't say we're punching above our weight, sign Bale however...

Started great, post New Year it's been torture but we secured promotion. Voted 4 but more of a 3.5 season.

hate posts like this So you think Rafa will stay if he's given only £20 million to spend? [emoji38] [emoji38] I think there's more to it than than that. He might accept a structured build up of funds given the impact of relegation etc. You've no f***ing idea. Whhhhoooohhhhhhhhhhh, settle down darling! I didn’t state that I had an idea but in my opinion, I’ll be very surprised if he will be happy to accept a budget of £20 million to work with looking at the state of our current squad next season. Only Stoke and Hull spent LESS than that figure last summer. This repeated £20m figure of yours is pie in the sky and only serves to upset yourself. You've created a scenario doomed for failure and run with it. mojorinsin is suggesting you sit on your hands and not get carried away with hypotheticals.

His achievement was remarkable, I love the guy. But... there was no real pressure on him and he did have a core group of players that were very strong mentally. We lack leaders for example at current. Nolan would walk into our team btw, an underrated player for us in many ways and a great Captain. Half that team would walk into our current team IMO. I'd certainly have a good few of them ahead of the current crop. Also, transfer fees have changed massively since then. The going rate for a top Championship player today is 10m plus and the average Prem player 15m. Ritchie for example. Although I hink he is above average. If you are using points as a barometer btw then Hughton is better than KK? Definitely not, wasn't trying to use the points tally as a barometer but perhaps illustrate how well Hughton did and unappreciated he was for his efforts if we're saying Rafa's deserves more credit for this season (which he definitely does). It wasn't all roses in Hughton's era, the club was in real shambles.... as it has been for most of life -

Hughton did all of the above while breaking 100pts with a tubby Nolan upfront, just saying -

Perfect set of results , really hope we go up with Brighton, looks nailed on now tbf -
I agree but people still talk about the Bowyer window and the beginning of the end of the clubs recent high point. Which is correct. Windows can have huge impact and memories linger. I agree in general with your point but it doesn't apply to this latest window. We still have more talent than the rest of the league, Gayle, Shelvey, Ritchie are heads and shoulders above majority. Failure to get promotion isn't critical on the Townsend non-signing, we had/have the quality and depth to get a Top 2 spot, that's on Rafa. What would prove more critical would be resting your 2 best players right before a 2 week international break, if Pardew had done so half the forum would still be having kittens. Furthermore, Townsend has nothing to do with our dreadful home record all year. I don't get why NoL is willing to absolve and deflect from Rafa's failings, the cult like mentality doesn't sit well with me.

You guys still harping on about the Jan window. That was 3 months ago, let it go. Still have the best squad be in the league so no need for preemptive excuses should Rafa fail at the first hurdle (i.e promotion)
