I know it shouldn't, but it bugs me when players are constantly making the sign of the cross and/or pointing to the heavens at every opportunity -- when the game is about to start, coming on as a substitute, after scoring, when the final whistle blows etc. I think it started in American sports and spread over here. Just once I'd like to see a Satanist player score a goal and point downwards towards Hades.

The Chelsea 2004-05 statistic is "across all competitions." Once you add in their goals conceded in the Champions League, FA Cup etc it comes out to 33 goals in 59 games which equals 0.56 goals per game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004–05_Chelsea_F.C._season -
Does seem to be infallible, tbh.

Don't mind sports idioms in general so much, but Bruce idioms still trigger me something awful.

He did push Bruno in the chest with both hands just as the ref was pulling out the cards to send him off. Think that might have motivated Murphy's piss-taking.
-
He said "We have to dust ourselves down" for the second time in a row. Needs to cut that out immediately.

"How important were the fans tonight?"

Hucthie.

Thank God for Amanda Staveley. Other than family members, she's had a more profound effect on my life than any woman who ever lived.

The Perez "casual finish" was a thing on here going back to 2018. I'm sure there are no stats to back it up.
-
Too casual, tbh.

Even after more than a year, "walked through the door" still makes me cringe.

Manorpark thinks not.

Yes. we don't do nuance here. He's either a horrible snidy little cunt or a master of brilliant shithousery. Maybe he should get the job of miaowing at Zouma next month.
-
Taken back when he was still driving.

Not a lot of optimism on that site at the moment, to say the least. https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/teams-we-could-emulate-under-our-current-inept-leadership.116872/page-3 First three suggestions are Third Lanark, Bury and Tranmere. What a pity.
-
Eddie needs to designate another player to practice making Miaow noises for when Kurt Zouma and West Ham arrive in a couple of weeks.
-
Reckon that FA Cup miss was his death knell with ruthless Eddie.
-
Maybe, but Dyche kept picking him. He played in almost every Burnley game last season until we bought him in January.
-
When we took Wood from Burnley he was an automatic pick for their first team and an essential part of Dyche's game plan of hitting long balls and set pieces towards one or both of the dynamic duo of Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes. So yes, that disrupted them. Wood is our third choice striker, so losing him hasn't weakened us.

Odds-on to finish in the top four. https://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/top-4-finish So should be able get better than evens to finish lower. Fivethirtyeight predicting we finish fourth, four points ahead of Liverpool in fifth. 54% chance of a CL spot. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/ Happy days -
And it disrupted Burnley who at that time looked like our main competition for the third relegation spot and in fact ended up in that spot.
