  1. Brighton to collect only 4 points from their last 11 games? One of which is at home against us and another is against Sheff Utd.??
  2. How many NUFC fans were angry that we beat Man U 5-0?
  3. The reduction in the club's value due to relegation would have been entirely attributable to Ashley (and Bruce's) own incompetence. The EPL may have prevented Ashley from selling the club but they didn't make him run it into the ground.
  4. A reminder of what Cabbage Heed was saying before our last game against Villa. Steve Bruce limbered up for Saturday night’s Premier League game at Aston Villa by claiming he has equalled Rafael Benítez’s achievements on Tyneside. “Rafa was a world-class manager,” the Newcastle manager said. “But we matched the mighty Rafa last year.” Benítez’s successor is under intense pressure after nine games without a win, and so could not resist an opportunity to remind the critics that his record is almost identical to that of the much-adored Spaniard. “Rafa, who I have obviously heard a lot about, where did he finish?” said Bruce, who led Newcastle to 13th place in the top tier last season, the same position achieved by his predecessor in 2018-19. “We’ll try to keep edging towards where I want to take us, which is the top 10. At this particular moment we’re on a bad run and we’re four or five points off it.” . . . A week ago Bruce told his players “the gloves are off” and “we’ll do it my way from now on”, but on Friday he proved more emollient, suggesting “my way” involved “playing 20 or 30 yards higher up the pitch” and he would alternate between his preferred back four and the back three favoured by Benítez. . . . “I’ve managed nearly 500 Premier League games so it’s no fluke I’m still here,” said Bruce. “I’ve the equipment to handle whatever comes my way. I’m quietly confident we’ll stay up. We did it quite comfortably last year so we know this group of players are capable. We’ve had a difficult spell but a lot of that’s been to do with illness and injury over the last six weeks. “We’ve had it particularly tough – and if you’re on a tough run you have to put up with the criticism. It’s a demanding league but the one thing you must do is keep that little bit of dignity and do the best you can to get yourself through it.”
  5. His £80,000 per week should take the edge off a bit, you'd think.
  6. If you broadened it to any professional football club in the world I still couldn't. No club in the universe screws simple things up on the scale that we do.
  7. Cracker v. the mighty Morecambe. And . . . er . . . that's it.
  8. It's all about your accumulation of points over the season. I just learned that recently from S. Bruce.
  9. And Wolves are bigger favourites to beat us than are Fulham to beat Palace. We will be the betting underdog in all the rest of our games this season except for Sheffield Utd. at home.
  10. Can't just be confident. Always has to be "quietly confident." He really is the King of Clichés.
  11. So sick of seeing him waiting to take a throw-in with a petrified look on his face, taking an age to throw the ball, and then eventually throwing it to a tightly-marked teammate who promptly loses it.
  12. Brighton fans prediction poll on third team most likely to be relegated. We win in a landslide. https://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?386070-So-who-is-going-down-with-WBA-and-Sheff-Utd/page2
  13. Arrogant German trying to humiliate Israeli guy is not a good look at all.
  14. Even Sheffield United and Palace were bookies' favourites to beat us. We will likely be the betting underdog in all our remaining games this season.
  15. Started against West Ham, gave away a goal with a ridiculous pass, then scored a nice free kick. I think Rafa (rightly) paid more attention to the error than the free kick.
  16. Five PL games today, all away wins. Don't often see that.
  17. No way we finish above any of those. It's going to come down to us or Fulham, probably to be decided on the last day of the season when we play them at Craven Cottage.
  18. Fulham's odds of winning at Brighton better than our odds of beating Leeds at home.
  19. Fully and enthusiastically endorsed the appointment after being told he'd be sacked if he didn't. Or maybe that it was going to happen whether he endorsed it or not.
  20. Looks like joint 6th for goals scored and also for goal difference over that period. Still far better than anything we've managed since under Bruce. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/formtabelle/wettbewerb/GB1?saison_id=2018&min=21&max=38
  21. Brilliant free kick routine https://www.facebook.com/ESPNFC/posts/10158559959459821
