  1. Has he said anything about rolling up sleeves or pulling up socks or getting back to basics yet?
  2. Keane would kill them, then walk his dog. Walk? That a typo?
  3. You would hope as reported, Ashley wants the Takeover approved, so he get his £300m, and can ride off into the sunset to buy some more shops. The alternative is probably that the lawyers have told him he has a case of restraint of trade, and he will threaten to sue them for the money lost... the £300m. He's unlikely to get that much (if any) money from the PL in the end, as they can't afford it, so they either cave and approve it, or formally reject it so an official appeal can begin. But rather than Mike just sounding off in the media, he's backed it up with some heavy duty legal muscle (and a half decent baker), so he appears to be serious about taking it further, if needed. Thats my take, at least. But he hasn't lost £300 million. He still owns the club. He lost the opportunity to sell an asset that he valued at £300 million for £300 million. An asset isn't much of an asset if you can't realise it. He's been deprived of the opportunity to cash in to the tune of £300m, unless the FA/BeIN Sports can come up with an alternative buyer who will offer anywhere near that sum, then Ashley will have a pretty good case that he's been prevented from trading. Agreed. But the measure of his damages wouldn't be £300 million. It would be the difference (if any) between £300 million and the actual fair market value of the club (however that is determined) minus however much of the £17 million deposit Ashley kept.

  5. "Not quite right" indeed. How about "absolutely fucking abysmal"?
  6. Peacock isn't compatible with Samsung Smart TVs either, which is annoying. But my drop-off in enthusiasm for watching NUFC owes a lot less to NBC than to Ashley, Bruce, the Premier League, the failed takeover and our turgid football.
  7. No I'm calm. I am onto my second bottle of sauvignon blanc like. Well spotted. Quite possibly the most middle class response. But Big Sam drinks it by the pint.
  8. And I hate to think where they must've pulled their socks up to by now.
  9. The average age of the Brighton starting eleven was 23 years eleven months. Six of them are 24 or younger. Four (Connolly, Dunk, March and White) came through their academy. Whereas the average age of our starting eleven was 27 years 0 months, only two (ASM and Lewis) are 24 or younger, and only one (Carroll) is an academy product.

  11. "We can talk about tactics and this and that and the other . . ." Absolutely clueless.
  12. He's got more points at this stage of the season than Rafa ever managed.
  13. Have to get back to basics, pull wuh socks up and go again on Sunday.
  14. The commentator on the U.S. coverage was Don Hucthison.
  15. No. He's the one who throws onion rings at sailors.
  16. I never said or thought "we're fucking defo down after 7 games like." You just said "we've been safe from relegation all season" and asked "when were we in serious relegation trouble?" I didn't think we were safe when we were in 19th place after the Leicester debacle. I suppose if I'd known that we would beat Man U and take 10 points from the next 5 games (as you apparently somehow did) I'd have been less worried.
  17. Ian what the fuck are you on about? We have been safe from relegation all season. We really haven’t like You're in the top 3 stupidest posters here. Enlighten me - when were we in serious relegation trouble? On October 5 the FiveThirtyEight site was quoting a 41% chance of relegation and projected us to finish in 18th place. At that stage we were 19th and had just lost 5-0 to Leicester. I was seriously worried and wasn't the only one.
  18. White must have said a dozen times that if we win this weekend we'll be in the top ten, but that isn't true unless Burnley lose and Palace fail to win.
  19. You'd imagine that Ashley's lawyers would have insisted on a clause to the effect that the purchase price will start to bear interest if the buyers can't get themselves through the PL approval process within some defined time period such as a couple of months. It can't be an open-ended arrangement whereby Ashley is obligated to wait potentially forever for the PL to decide. He may well have the right to pull the plug altogether if the buyers can't get through the PL test within X months.
  20. Doubt that our new Muslim owners will be handing out bacon sandwiches, tbh.
  21. It's The Dentist. No, sorry, he's Football Incisor. You should get a plaque for that.
  22. nufc.com saying it's a done deal. "We understand that the much-heralded purchase of Newcastle United by a consortium comprising the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers will be ratified and announced before next weekend. That will follow the granting of formal approval of the deal by the Premier League - a process that has taken around five weeks, due in part to controversy over the Saudi involvement and efforts to restart the season."
  23. Someone probably ratted her out.
