Read somewhere that it was the first match in 392 games for Liverpool that Salah did not manage a shot on goal, or created a chance for a teammate. Amazing stat.
-
Should be posted in the Eddie Howe thread - but it must feel so amazing for players like Big Joe and Dan Burn that in the Howe era, they have prospered so much professionally- winning a trophy, and getting call-ups to their national squads. They must feel so proud.

Great match for the neutral. Shitting bricks for the fans.
-
Now hear me out - Fabian Schar as backup striker.....
-
This match is sandwiched between their home and away games midweek against Real Madrid. They're not doing well domestically either. If there's a time to beat this lot, it has got to be now.
-
I'd like to think we were strongly linked to him back then because, once again, our scouting team saw something that was being suppressed at ManU. Literally the "Longstaff upgrade" we had been clamouring for at the time.
-
He also assisted the assist for the first goal.
-
I see what you did there.... You're a good egg @Froggy, good with the bants.
-
So he can play in midfield after all!
-
When was the last time we made two cup finals in three years?
-
I remember one of his first interviews for us, he said “I want to play one hundred games for Newcastle!”. Just checked - he’s now played 109!
-
Noah Okafor would be right up our alley if we are looking for/can afford a Wilson replacement. Boy knows how to hit a ball, puts himself about and is nice and direct - very in the mold of a Howeball player. Not sure how he'd do on the right wing though. Swiss international compatriot of wor Schar. Only concern is that, like Wilson (somewhat), he is a bit of a crock.

I still remember being on this very forum (ok the "old" version) when we signed Cisse. It was on the rumours page, and just matter-of-fact, somebody (perhaps one of the Spurs fans) just piped up with "I see you lot have signed Cisse from Freiburg". Ah those good old days.

Yep, no different to us talking about Mbeumo and Hujisen when their clubs are neck-and-neck with us in the race to Europe. Fine if it’s the fans, like, what I can’t stand is the media literally lying through their teeth in the guise of having any real intel.

If we are owned by the Gulf competitor of the UAE, and are hamstrung by PSR rules whilst Man City continues to hoover up our targets, the least I'd expect is that we don't sell our best players to Man City. In the absence of any "show of intent" by our owners in the form of splashing out on global talent, we should prioritise keeping Bruno, Isak, Gordon and Tonali. Hurts to see that there isn't an exciting dick-measuring contest going on, the League put paid to that.

"I don't know, butI think...."..."I think there could be..."..."I wouldn't be surprised if..." I don't know but I think I will have a go on Sydney Sweeney. I think I could have a chance with her. I wouldn't be surprised if Ana de Armas could want me, but Alexandra D'addario could too. Fucking hot air masquerading as "journalism" to get clicks. They just make up lies out of thin air, and then when the lies get repeated and gain a little bit of traction, claim that "everyone is talking about it". Exactly the same as the Isak bullshit.

Not really a winger though, tbf. Powerful, direct centre-forward type. Like a Liam Delap, which is not a bad thing at all.
-
Aaron ramsdale throwing the ball into his own net.
-
Always a place for not-great players in a squad with worldies elevating everyone. Leicester won the league with Danny Simpson and Danny Drinkwater alongside Mahrez and Kante.

It's good to have a player who is (somewhat) comfortably two-footed on the wing. Right now we have Gordon cutting in on the left flank; and then Murphy playing a proper outside right, but as seen yesterday, still has the ability to cut in and get a shot off with his left foot if circumstances permit. This sort of unpredictability makes it so hard to defend against, unlike an Almiron, who you know will always cut in. Even Mbuemo will cut in if given the chance, although he's objectively a much sharper player than Miggy. Fair play to the coaching staff for teaching Murph to add more dimensionality to his attacking play. He seems so much more confident nowadays. Really struggling to see who we could reasonably buy who'd be an obvious improvement.
-
Part of me is feeling like if we brought a new RW now to replace Murphy, it'd just be a Tino Asprilla upsetting the squad balance situation all over again.
-
Remember that video of our end of season lap of honour? Bruno was pointing to Targett saying "we have to sign him!". In my mind, I imagine that our management decided at that point to gift Bruno a Matt Targett.

Jacob Murphy described as "sublime" and "sensational". This is peak "Is this the Real Life" meme . Fair play to wor Jacob, of course. Goes to show what confidence, momentum, and playing a settled team can do for on-pitch chemistry and understanding. Murph and Dubs just mirror Chris Wood and Mats Sels at this juncture.
