  1. I agree largely but even under Ashley we could have spent what he spent better with a good coach and been a lot more successful. This was the most baffling thing about his era, if he's appointed decent people to run the club, he could have left them too it, say you need to be self sustainable and money could have been spent on academy to generate saleable assets and never had to do anything with the club except take money out of it to fund his nights out. But he didn't, he sabotagued the club making any revenue, used us as an advertising board for shite direct and got involved in transfers. It was baffling.
  2. It's crazy because as much as you made accomodations for Bruce making players worse I still looked at squad last november and thought none of these lot are good enough to do out in this division there's no hope
  3. No doubt agent speaking to many, player will make up his mind. For once I am fairly relaxed, if he doesn't want to play for us fine we will find somewhere else. Under Ashley one player says no it was well 'at least we tried'
  4. I think plenty would still be pissed off at the glazers if they won something, and why my sympathy is tempered is that as terrible as they are Man U are still in a position to win a few things, noone would be shocked if they won a cup. They are a million miles from the league mind, probably as far as us at this point. But I do think plenty man u fans would still be aware the glazers are leaches, just the same as I am sure when fans of other clubs accuse all newcastle fans of blindly waving tea towels and pledging alliegance to saudi arabia, i think plenty are aware that it's not bloody ideal. It's crazy what has been allowed to happen to football clubs all to service money money and more money
  5. It's a mix of treating the club like an asset to milk and completely baffling decision making that diminishes the value of their 'asset' considerably at the same time. There was an element of spite to Ashley running the club into the ground, I am not really sure the motivation is for the glazers to make bad decisions that make them less money, apart from arrogance in making sporting decisions themselves rather than listening to advice and poor priorities.
  6. He needs competition for the place, he's clearly a streaky confidence player, if he came off bench against tired legs a few games and got some assists and goals that way might get him back to his best. He will likely want to leave I suspect if he does get serious competition but that's on him. I love him, he can be wonderful to watch and I will never get all the flack he got under Bruce when the whole weight of having to actually do something in a game hung on him, but he's an odd fit under Howe and I would like him to be a part of the new world I think it would be better for him, and he would get less stick, if he was the kind of player who could give us a spark when we needed it but could be benched when we just need to grind a result out.
  7. Glazers have loaded the club with debt and are gambling on consistently increasing revenues to finance it. It's a bubble and I guess they plan to clear our before the pile of debt becomes too big to finance and they are no longer able to market themselves enough to get that increased revenue. It could be disastrous for the fans one day, albeit also I slightly worry the answer is they can do this indefinitely and nothing will happen, but I do have sympathy with Man U fans complaints over the glazers, as they are spending money they maybe can't afford badly, but I have little sympathy on the pitch while the bubble is yet to burst
  8. Where does Bruce get 2 points from? Bruce apologist!
  9. Player of the Season: Joelinton Most Improved Player of the Season: Joelinton Most Disappointing Player: Willock Signing of the Season: Bruno Goal of the Season (feel free to rank your top 3): Torn between Bruno's impudent Southampton goal that confirmed he was class, or Trippier's Everton free kick that felt like the moment I started to believe we weren't seriously going down. Going with Bruno's as better actual goal. Game of the Season: Newcastle 2 - 0 Arsenal - Feels a very promising look into the future. There were a lot of scrappy close wins, this felt us playing how we want to play, in control. On the pitch Moment of the Season (we all know the takeover was the off-field most important): Joelinton dropping into midfield after Clark was sent off and thus a legend was born Manager rating out of 10: 10/10 - couldn't ask for more, nearly gave him 9/10 cos of the cambridge loss but lack of cup distraction may have helped i guess. Season rating out of 10: 7/10 - Points docked for the Bruce period and for lack of anything in cups.
  10. Yeah very possibly but I would be surprised at 5 'marquee' signings, I think there'll be a bit of exciting young players rather than established stars
  11. I still think some people are going to be very disappointed by our window. I don't think we will spend quite the sums some think based on how much Howe thinks dressing room unity is important I really don't think he wants to change a huge amount of the squad. The Tarkovski links might be because CB is no longer a priority with Schar and Burn playing perfectly well so makes sense to add depth if we can shift Fernandez and means don't have to spend what it normally costs to get a premier league level defender. Of course I would like a lot of changes, and I really hope certain positions are upgraded. I do doubt the £50m figure, but I don't think it will be thaaat far out.
  12. Didn't get top half howe out!
  13. famously real madrid are all about the financial fair play
  14. Mbappe probably doing it himself
  15. I'm a bit happy for my everton mate to be honest
  16. I haven't seen him enough but I dunno I'm not that unhappy with Dubravka, I would want a more technically accomplished keeper who can pass out form back, is he able to?
  17. True Real did make most of their extra time. I don't have the answer really, I am not keen on going straight to pens, maybe reduced time makes sense. Just seems to be a pattern at the moment, especially with Egypt doing it ACON a lot. Football should have a think about it.
  18. So almost every game that I've seen recently that's gone to extra time has remained scoreless and gone on to pens, with exceptions of course. It seems though you end up with a tired teams being very conservative and it's hardly a spectacle. Is it time to consider alternatives?
  19. Bit worried what happens now if the hierarchy decide not to sign him for whatever reason now lol Bruno aint going to be happy
  20. I mean aren't their ruls against tapping up/
  21. There's a lot of value in a player who definitely gets it in the dressing room, fits in enjoys it, listens to manager and the fans already appreciate. NEw player in may look fantastic on youtube but not fit in, so I would find it slightly extraordinary if we don't sign him. It wouldnt shock me if we bought competition in fairly short order mind, our team needs depth as well.
  22. That attitude made sense when we were scraping by. Bring them all on! I don't think we will win that many against 'top 6' or really trouble them that much next season but I don't think any of them will want to play us at home at any point.

    Overrated players

Saka's mint but you often see it in young players, get huge confidence initialy and do really well but then have a difficult time or whatever after a long season or so. Developed right he should gain consistency, or the other way he may not turn into the player hoped for but he deserves patience.

    Isaac Hayden

Best wishes, i still get annoyed at some of the stick he got particularly in the bruce era. Not the highest quality but always worked hard, played through some tough personal circumstance and still think people underestimate the job he did in Rafa's 3-4-3 when we briefly looked a proper team again. Hope he gets premier league footy
