    Jacob Murphy

I dont think he was terrible last season either, the signs of improvement, but he wasn't getting as many minutes, our right back situation was a bit unsettled behind him etc etc. It is just good coaching though isnt it. Some players react straight away or hit their ceilings quickly, some just take time and maturity to start hitting their best consistently. He's definitely been focused down, he always ran hard, always got in good positions, but his decision making, his shots and his crosses were all questionable. He seems to have a lot better vision with his crossing, and he's definitely shooting more accurately as well. He's still not the greatest finisher, the more time he has to think about a shot the worse his finish is likely to be, but his goal exemplified excellent work to be in the right place, and an excellent finish too.
  2. If Salah leaves I can absolutely see Liverpool willing to spend a huge amount on Isak. I suspect they'd try and tap him up a bit and tell him to run down his contract till he's a bit cheaper mind.

    Joe Willock

Disgusting stuff hope he gets supported.
  4. Well short of acceptable, the run was is over performing it feels like champions league is well beyond us
  5. I mean i know it is very poor for them still, but it's interesting how narrative and reality contradict each other, in my head Man City seemed to lose every game and yet 18 points...
  6. Ali fought a Japanese wrestler, Foreman fought a succession of ridiculous fights iirc. Boxing has forever been run by hucksters and crooks even more than most other sports. Boxing forever desperately needs to get its shit together and have the best fighters fight each other semi regularly, but instead they all dodge each other and the promoters hype up shit like that. To be clear it will absolutely never get it's act together, and little bit of me is slightly glad of it because the circus is some of the fun, but would be nice to have more better fights, but it is a cruel undignified sport and maybe you cant dress it up. I say this as a boxing fan (but its complicated)

    sunderland

Sat in a pub in Middlesbrough, a fairly clearly casual smoggie is talking to some older bloke some absolute nonsense, "you'd almost want to see sunderland go up wouldnt you they can get people to go to their ground, they can fill it up", the older guy looks incredibly uninterested, i think he may be his dad and is just all round disappointed in him
  8. been a great run, bournemouth really good, not going to moan too much players bound to run out of a bit of steam at some point, shame at home and shame for isak
  9. Love began his journey to atlanta as if he's frodo taking the ring to mordor or something and he isnt going to reach atlanta for a year
  10. Fair enough. I do wonder if all the public discussions of internal disagreements at old trafford is really hurting them. I'm not sure if it's the amount of press involvement and plenty ahve good sources, or if the hierarchy leak a lot to embarrass each other, or if they do it cos they think will help the team somehow, or if it;s all the squad doing it whenever they're pissed at a contract offer or lack thereof. I have to say if my agent is whispering in my ear that maybe man u would give you a £200k contract, you raise it and then all of a sudden its leaked you're greedy and you're up for sale it could go the other way. Equally I question if it's really the homegrown value thing that will drive the sale but they dont want to admit that so leak he asked for a load.
  11. I do wonder if publically putting Mainoo up for sale (even if its not at an actually realistic fee) was great for the lads morale...
  12. Honestly the defining characteristic of post-ferguson Man United is they generally look pretty poor and yet somehow string decent enough set of results to finish near the top 4 and sometimes win a cup even though by all rights and tests on the eye they have no right to. They briefly flirted this season with not just looking bad but actually being really bad, so good for Amorim I guess for restoring them to the winning despite it making no sense levels.
  13. Yeah McAtee for that price feels a bit of a no-brainer, but if that price tag is true the player still has to want it.
  14. Saw him play in friendly before, looked very threatening but very very raw and that cameo didn't contradict. Think a long way off, and I'd think about loan moves except we always loan to dreadful clubs.
  15. I'd be foolish to disagree, most likely he will, it's just Haaland feels a bit of an outlier of a player so I am not sure all comparisons will work, however he certainly can finish so will remain a great poacher likely. I'd more be worried about injuries.
  16. Back in the posh school i used to go to every morning the tutor made us read out this latin poem thing about someone called Maximus who was never late, always polite, always hard working, never rushed etc etc about some mythically brilliant roman dude to somehow instill values in us (thankfully only had him one year). Some in here are reminding me of that hah. I think he's not got the ego clouding judgement that half managers seem to have where they start blaming everyone, he stayed calmed and fixed it. I also suspect he listens to his staff and works collaboratively better than half the my way or the high way crowd.
  17. I mean it could be great for city. He could of course also lose form and fitness and be stuck on their wage bill for years and years. Guess they can afford it but this feels more statement to fans that the project isn't going anywhere than actual practical football decision

im more wondering how long it will take us to overtake everton
  19. Media does like to sell a club to Arsenal. Rice was definitely going to Arsenal for years before it happened. I am sure it's cos Arsenal have enquired a lot and are keen but equally, Liverpool very possibly need to replace Salah's goals in the summer, I'm a bit more scared they can afford a ridiculous fee too.

    Joe Willock

Unfortunately that same injury record also limits how much we will get for him. Feel for the lad as his ceiling is high but getting there is difficult. I always feel he needs a run of games every time he comes back before he gets to his best and he's just unlikely to get the minutes without Gordon or Joelinton being injured.
  21. Had one wonderful sparkling run where he scored beautiful goals for fun, away from that incredible work ethic on the pitch, fantastic attitude, hope he tears it up back in the MLS.
  22. It feels pointless getting annoyed at decisions that gave us some of the most enjoyable seasons in years when regardless of if we could have managed it a bit better the real issue is the legacy of a decade of mismanagement by Ashley not growing the commercial side of the club at all leaving a mountain to climb for the new owners to please psr. Our commercial revenue was absolutely appalling for a club of our size.
  23. He's been the next big thing for quite some time, felt obvious when chelsea signed him wasnt going to get the minutes but they did what they do. May be perfect place to restart career
