It's not much of a punt he has grown to be an excellent centre forward for Palace so I imagine he would cost an absolute bomb but don't know if time left on contract etc. I also wonder if he'd want to come to play second fiddle. I think we're more likely to sign someone up and coming again with a bit more risk attached. Mateta would be great but doubt it

Problem with Howe assuming all the power is just genuine workload surely. It's all very well but I can't be alone in looking jealously at how other clubs snap up players quickly early in window etc, snap up obscure talent for the future. Really poor look for the club. What's the point of a sporting director that's only in for a year? And awful timing in terms of negotiating with other clubs, assume he's got a list of targets handed over at least, and now we need to bid before he takes that list to the next club.

However, what Villa are brushing under the carpet was they came to a widely unfancied Man U team that no-one gave much of a chance of pulling anything out and they delivered an absolute stinker of a performance. Even before Martinez's dreadful challenge they were very poor and only Man U's quite frankly incredible skill at failing to put chances away left them with any chance of being in the game. Now Emery can brush this aside due to this controversy. Still think very unfortunate though, really impressed by Emery and this Villa team, clearly just Europe took a toll and tiredness caught up at end of season with some poor ends to cup runs. I even mooted at the time that I wouldn't be totally surprised if that turn of events happened. Things will have moved on though, Eddie's position is clearly stronger than ever. If they clash this summer and one is unhappy I suspect Mitchell will be the one in trouble, but nothing about the ownership suggests they are short termist in anything so I think everyone will act like adults and do their jobs and anything off will get blown out of proportion by some in media to have something to talk about while there's no football on...

Good ball carrier for a counter attacking team. Feel he needs love and gametime to get to his best, he doesn't seem able to perform in 20 minute cameos and all his solid patches came after a run of starts in the side, and he's never going to get that again. Need to sell, lad did alright, one of the bright sparks of the 'brucey' years and played well for us in the first full Howe season but should be time for him to move on

He's a great player whom is so obnoxious no fan of another club will ever give him credit. He's been carrying that team for ages. I do wonder if he likes getting the best player in the team and would disappear in a system led team with others of his talent
