If we dont make Europe of course players want to leave. There is a difference between telling Bruno that we won't stand in his way if he wants to leave in these circumstances assuming an acceptable fee, and Bruno actually wanting to leave. We need to raise money to buy, we need to rebuild the squad. I am of a mind that if a player wants to leave, as long as we get a good fee fine, we should take the money and will replace. The only exception would be Isak whom still has huge value and more than that I don't think can be replaced. We just need to spend the profits on more players than we sell, we need to start having replacements for the star players already in when we sell in future so there's no disruption to the team.

I erred a bit and wondered about replacing him after the west ham at home loss, and quickly regretted it. He's well earned a chance to refresh the squad in the summer. If we don't refresh the squad somewhat were I him i'd ponder walking as we'll just go backwards.

We're an average team with an excellent striker right now. We can be more but consistently across the season it could not be more clear what damage our inability to improve the squad has been. The team look leggy. Players aren't keeping up form for too long.

So frustrating absolutely worst time to do maximum damage to our season

What a fucking moron

Hmm i thought since i rate him higher than a lot of midfielders in league was putting him in one of the best in position but that does feel generous, but solid starter at c feels low. Is inbetween

Had to give him B. I havent been on this forum all that much of late so maybe havent read everything but somewhat thrown by some of the takes on here. No he's not Viera, and yes what holds him back is a level of inconsistency, when he's a bit off it he's clumsy and prone to rash tackles, he can give away the ball way too much. However there have been more than significant periods when he has been absolutely exceptional, dominated midfields, and while his possession keeping has been poor he is tremendously important in getting the ball in awkward spots and releasing it forward in transition creating a lot of counter attacks. Most notably when he's not in the squad (or is in a bit of bad form) we are often a lot poorer as a team. Our biggest patch of struggle last season was the period he was injured. Our current slight slump guess who's not in midfield? Do I think he can be upgraded? Yes, I think we need a more technical player in the long term. Do I forsee us not wanting him in and around the squad? No chance, on form the opposition bounces off him like below. Love him.

I think terrible may be an exaggeration for the team that's pretty much won the league by February

I guess just his players have the thin skin, otherwise all the other managers would also be struggling with this?

I wasnt able to watch the first half. I feel i can not watch us ever again...

Where has our intensity gone.

I really hate that PSR stuff is sometimes justified as about fair competition. It's not. And I am a sometime defender of it (largely in principle). It's all about preventing an owner spending ludicrously for short term success and loading a club with unsustainable losses and then bailing and leaving the club bankrupt and the fans screwed over. I get that and think it's good to stop that happening. The fact it is preventing clubs with no concerns over liquidity spending money, and that it is rewarding clubs massively for selling their own home grown talent, is ludicrous and counter productive. We need a set of rules to stop charlatan owners ruining clubs, but we don't have that. If they wanted to make the competition fairer, and I am actually for this, let us be successful on merit not on spending, they need to talk about wage caps and the like, which they won't because the premier league isn't concerned about competition internally, but is concerned about competition from other leagues.

Yeah critique of the location is probably a bit cart before horse. In the next decade presumably a lot will pop up next to it, even if it's a bit crap now will be well worth it for them.

Largely agree though I'd say 9th would be a bit low for where we are, but we aren't consistent enough across the season. It's very difficult to finish top 4 and we dont deserve it for playing at a high level over the Christmas period, we need to do it for longer. A lot of the other teams in similar spots also have reasons they may drop points so not going to give up now.
-
I do feel for him, think this move has come too soon. What makes it worse was Amorim initially said as much when they recruited him, he asked to finish season in Lisbon and join in summer so he had time to prep. When they insisted immediate he should have turned them down.

More like Ashley every day

It is a fair point hah. Yes he had end product on Saturday didnt mean to imply otherwise, but just needs consistency. As Wilson cannot be relied upon our main backup to Isak is either Gordon as striker (which negates some of his strengths imo but he can do it a bit) or this guy and it's hard to know if he consistently will score goals. It's merely one good game of creating chaos doesnt feel enough yet.

If it's so wild they can go and sign another comparable striker elsewhere surely! Oh... wait...

If we have to sell to buy more we need more saleable assets not just 'purples'. We do need to flesh out the squad with promising young players whom either grow into regular first teamers or get sold for solid profit after a couple of seasons. At present almost all the players with value are ones we still can't afford to lose. We are also in the position that if one gets sold the money will go on replacement, whom will tend to take 6 months to adapt to howeball. We need to start bringing in replacements before the sale and that means cheaper bargains not expensive already established players. Such is psr.

Did look well suited for the howe high press. Question remains on real end product but was positive
