Staverley was right and the contract should have been offered, Mitchell was a prick, he could have demanded contract when he left, he could even have put in transfer request. He didn't have to screw over our season could have just continued to act a professional.

While i don't write hate pep so much players like him are so much more suited to being the main man in teams than part of the some automated systematic machine where they have to monitor several zones. Now the days of maverick number 10s who don't track back are long gone but you waste some players by reducing them to cogs.

Our failure to strengthen over previous windows has left us in a very poor negotiating position. Everyone knows we're desperate. If we'd signed (and I know there were good reasons we were unable to) a long term back up then replacement for Isak last summer as would have been sensible it would have been better value. Every day that goes by makes the inevitable panic purchase of one of these likely cost more. We may just need to cough up, and then totally reassess our negotiating team for future transfer windows.

It's a whole bloody industry on rumours and because it's so unimportant in the grand scheme of things the fact that plenty are just extensions of a clubs pr is not regulated in any meaningful way. For the record random twitter personalities venting opinions online aren't journos and are fine to exist i guess but they're not journos. Real journos will often be just reporting on rumour that is bullshit and sometimes they are unfairly castigated for passing on a message but it's all a big mess. My problem is this is often because journos jobs are dependent on clicks, and fair and accurate reporting doesn't lead to more clicks.

I do understand there are footballing reasons for him in terms of him wanting to be winning titles and even i understand his concern about our recruitment not being good, but if those were his reasons he could have tried to force our hand by handing in a transfer request. He has not done so and as such the club are entitled to assume that he does not want to transfer he merely wants to not do his job and he should be treat as such.

I was somewhat encouraged to be honest. I know we should have won, in that first half or after they went down to 10, but the team didn't look undercooked which i feared, we looked very solid and our usual nightmare to play against. We need goals, because of course, but we looked in good shape. Point away at Villa is not a terrible result really either albeit does feel like points dropped Wissa and another absolutely needed but no reason for any extreme negativity.

They felt we'd get ekitike so pushed that bid ahead, but then clearly feel it's now our possibly never for isak too and at the very least it fucks us over for first few months of season without a ball being kicked

We need to stop with this one in one out thinking though, we need enough players of proven quality to compete for first team then a bunch of young talents who may become the next isak (quality wise not attitude) in the background too. If we sell isak next season it'll cost the same for a like for like and we're no better

The isak replacement should be 2 or 3 exciting young players with potential, one of whom takes over when wissa slows down. This one in one out idea needs to stop as will always leave us short.

Sorry for late reply, yes as we shouldn't be selling to direct rivals. Especially ones who have acted so underhand. If late bid comes in from barca or something then at least he's not our problem

I still think Liverpool will put in a late bid closer to our evaluation and we'll cave. Just can't see howe wanting him around the squad
