I think they could play together fine if they built an understanding up, think both drop deeper to help defend same positions, Cabaye should play more advanced imo and let Guthrie play further back.
-
Sounds like we did alright, not overly surprised we couldn't get the ball behind them too often with Cabaye out the game. Should have started Ben Arfa, and would have been nice to get another but it's a good result none-the-less

Still can't get over that Udinese are up there after selling their best players, yet again. Their scouts must be incredible. I don't really pay enough attention to Serie A though. I watched first half of the Milan Derby and was very bored

good games for Colo are just routine now, took till now for anyone to comment

I don't really mind being daft

ssssssh don't jinx it

Maicon was at right back was't he? Maybe thought he could do more cutting in and scoring and didn't require / want any big crosses over as well but he wasn't going to displace Maicon I suspect. To be honest he's looking fine on the left so it's great to have someone flexible, dunno if the club plans on switching him over to replace Simpson eventually or what

The one Moyes on the day he arrived Moyes said wasn't good enough

Trouble is whenever i start watching a game and it's boring I feel transfixed unable to change to another game, as obviously as soon as a switch there will be 3 red cards and 12 goals

No idea with Fulham. Sometimes think they're total shit, sometimes score great goals. Can never really predict which Fulham will turn up, and as such no idea what to expect.

Anyone watching the Milan derby? Not that great so far.

I think a 3 man midfield is an option we should be prepared to use in games where we would otherwise be overrun there, glad it was a 'plan b' that worked here. I'm a big fan of 4-3-3 at times but we have a 2 man midfield in cabaye and tiote whom are perfectly capable of bossing some games around midfield wise (see Man U game) and so adding a third then can simply blunt the attack.
-
I agree broadly, not quite as harsh on him, but he needs to take the blame for some of the hoofing that has happened, and his Ben Arfa treatment has been odd. I think we have played fine footy but he seems to be reliant on 4-4-2 style too much, not that it's not unsuitable a lot, but when we need to compete in midfield having a player linking mid to attack really helps. He deserves some credit for our defence functioning often pretty faultlessly however, and I think some of the hoofing has been caused by defective wingers, Obertan being s*** and Jonas either s*** or just defending. His own fault since Ben Arfa does fine there really. I also think Cabaye has been such a great signing, and he's got things spot on quite a lot so he has plenty of slack, overall think he's done a good job.

He's our John Terry. Only Good.

When he was on the floor in giant mood all I could think of was him saying this, know pretty awful really but entirely on his side http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=A8yjNbcKkNY#t=98s

I know I will jinx it, but he seems a hardy player who shrugs things off well. Fairly confidant he'll be ok.

Our strong defence has meant that we haven't f***ed up mostly. We have looked poorer than our position implies, and then we've looked great at others, evens out to where you are. Don't believe position ever particulaly lies, except if you've got there playing like Stoke, which we haven't. When you look at our first choice team, we're where we deserve to be, great defence, great midfield players and Ba, whom has been unplayable for so much of season. We are short in areas but we've put our faith in young players generally and positive attacking footy and it's paid off. I suspect we will struggle before season is out, but I'm pretty positive about our team, it's young, it's going to get better if our transfers policy keeps it up and we keep hold of essentials. Only problem is convincing Pardew to play Ben Arfa.

Now Lee Ryder has denied it, it may be true!

ahahahaha never in a million years

Krul is only going to get better, no way we can't keep hold of him even if the plan is to cash in on him eventually, his price will go up. That said hope he stays a long long time.

I'd imagine Ferguson would rather sell him to us to spite Wenger

Arsenal vs Swansea I predict to be very scrappy, as is sometimes the case when two possession based teams play each other. Have to say think Swansea are better at is possession wise, but lack the cutting edge Van Persie
