Agree with that, especially when you consider the top clubs are consistently dropping points ( which is why it's so close obviously) i suspect if more mid table teams actually gave it a go from the management to the players most would be surprised with the outcome.

Anything before Rafa isn't relevant, i'm obviously talking about this season where most games where the likes of Atsu and Mitrovic have played we haven't missed a beat. Just the classic overreaction to the loss which happens every time.

We didn't know the line up tbf. We're chalk and cheese at home, regardless of the line-up tbh. We've had some big, comfortable wins achieved at a canter - juxtaposed with some inexplicable, listless defeats against weak sides. Could easily have spanked them if everyone had a good day, as we have done on other occasions this season. I don't think the team selection is the reason why we lost. Don't agree with that. The losses were early on when we were finding our feet. We've been dominant at home and away for a while now with mainly the same team with the odd change to right back, centre mid. This match had changes in every department and it was a bit too much. Shelvey and Gayle are our undroppable players imo. Those two in and the other changes might have done it, but I think Rafa pushed it overall and we got what we deserved. Massive overreaction IMO, when have we lost with Mitrovic in the team? i don't really remember it happening much. Then you are looking at Atsu and Mbemba instead of Lascelles and Gouffran, so i don't see how the line up is to blame here. We just played badly and got punished for it for the first time since Wolves, don't particularly see how the lineup is to blame.

Yeah Rafa said he was going to play them together at some point in the future, it's not as unlikely as it was a couple of months ago. Genuinely think that if Shelvey is suspended then we might see it a lot more often.

Because quite frankly he went multiple seasons not playing very well, he's playing very well now in a role that suits him but that doesn't change that fact.

Never understood why it was supposed to be tough anyway, because they have history of being a good team like 15 years ago? There was never anything to suggest they are a good team. Being 6th in the league before this weekend and beating Norwich away? Other than Brighton there's nobody else good in this league Also I'm pretty sure Preston beat Norwich and some other good teams before we played them yet that was a simple game. Not the only ones either considering the 20 point swing since we beat Norwich. Like I said there was never anything to suggest there are a good team who was going to cause us trouble.

It's because of the international break, happens every time after one that the same players are not playing. Not a coincidence that Gayle(might have played anyway mind), Anita and Colback are all playing when they weren't playing for their country when others were.

Nah Anita's never let us down at fullback, Yedlin is a much bigger offensive threat but i have no problems with him playing especially after an international break.

I'm plenty chill Rooney plays midfield for England but it doesn't mean he's good at it, i stand by what i said. Also him playing midfield for Congo ( no offence to them) is very different than him playing there for us. He's a CB that's what he is, this is no different to the Colo farce or when people wanted Janmaat in midfield. To use another example Alaba plays in midfield for his country, but every time Bayern have tried to use him there instead of fullback he looks significantly worse. It's all pretty meaningless.
