  1. Didn't realise he was only 26. Bring him home please.
  2. Yeah I agree, I was kind of bandying 20m about as the known increase in sponsorship. We definitely need to live within non-champions league budgets as you say, though even that one-off season (if it is just a season) hike would help reduce our losses over 3 years.
  3. To be fair, I don't necessarily think this is as unreasonable as people are making out and I doubt anyone really knows how these things are discussed internally...though clearly journos will/do assume that transfer budget equates to total cost of the players. Talking in absolutes of 100m is odd as deals are structured differently. You could buy 2 players worth 50m each but only pay 10m each upfront and that would be our transfer spend done despite only a 20m CASH outlay. But that would be the same as the clubs insisting we pay more upfront which equates to a 100m CASH outlay but apparently the same transfer spend. Extreme obviously. But I dont think it's beyond the realms of possibility that they are talking cash outlay budget rather than future total spend. That being said, 100m total transfer spend equates to about 20m a year FFP hit (exc wages) assuming 5 year contracts. Which seems reasonable...so who knows

Wish we had a twitter nonsense thread for this sort of shite
  5. Wonder if the £25m is the "base" amount with extra payable for seasons that we're in European comps. Either way, when you factor in that a transfer fee is amortised over 5 years, thats a huge chunk towards the transfer pot!
  6. And it's even worse if if they lose as they'll be wanting a reaction in their next game...

  8. Don't want to be accused of bedwetting by the forum police but that's a guaranteed 15 points for the mancs imo
  9. That £25M may well be the "base" amount with extra payable for champions league. Assuming Spurs £40m includes CL and the £25m doesn't, then if we qualify we likely won't be too far apart.
  10. Murphy would have ripped the back of the net out there
  11. Or the first product from our new strategic model of cloning players to increase transfer revenue.
  12. Suarez was banned for 8 games for the Evra incident wasn't he? Not sure the punishment should be comparable personally but different scenarios so Either way really needs stamping out. No point giving Mitro the 8 games and still letting players surround the ref. Use it as a springboard.
  13. Man U fan at work was going on about the dressing room photo until I pointed out we do it after every game. Whatever makes them feel better

  17. You only fail if you try and I'm not convinced the club were willing to deviate from their long term strategy/plans just to secure 4th this season. Letting 2 players leave without replacements as it was too good an opportunity to miss - forest desperate and no guarantee of summer exits for them otherwise - shows they're willing to sacrifice in the short term to benefit the long. Fans have a right to be disappointed I guess, but that's not really the clubs priority.

  19. I'd much rather consistent top 4 than a one off season. Paying over the top in January on whoever was available for short term success doesn't appear to have been part of their long term strategy.
  20. I do think PIF are happy to play the long game - we would likely have overpaid in January for available players that weren't part of our future plans. It's a long term project and whilst top 4 next year would have been great, I don't think we'll be properly equipped for sustained European and domestic campaigns for another couple of seasons. Bringing forward additional spend to be spread over a c.5 year period on the basis of increased revenue from one season has it's own risk. If we miss out the season after, then revenue drops back down and we'd risk falling foul of FFP. Not that I care about any of that mind you, I want champs league next year Would still be happy with 6th though and this season has been fucking awesome so far
  21. Aww shit, such sad news. RIP Christian
  22. Chelsea will push for Palace surely if they want any chance of top 4.
  23. We need someone to just ping it top corner from outside of the box
