  1. It did say "for example" so literally isn't quite right ....

IMO.. Speeding 50 in a residential 30mph, or 150 on the motorway is worse than driving at marginally over the legal drink limit at the correct speeds on empty roads. Driving 3 times the legal drink limit is worse than 75mph on motorway or 33 in a residential area. There is a sliding scale and its pointless making generalisations to be honest. Alcohol is lethal because it affects your reactions. Excessive speeding is lethal as stopping distances etc are affected regardless of your reaction times. Disclaimer: I do neither of the extremes and actually don't drive having any drink personally. I speed but not what I'd term excessively or in stupid places and I'm not condoning anyone etc etc etc
  3. It's really not one or the other anymore. If we need a 1st teamer and a January deal is acceptable, then they'll do it. Likewise, they'll be looking to buy young prospects for positions we don't have a current urgent need for that might take a bench role. FFP does limit and if we use Botman as an example, at the moment we don't need someone to compete with him but we need an improvement over current bench options. Do we spend c. 40m on that person or 20m on a prospect who's not quite there but has that potential. I doubt there's any club (Man City aside) that has a bench if 1st-team "ready" players.

Apparently blew a 43. 35 is the legal limit but they only charge you at 40. Think they say 4 units (2 pints or so) takes you to the limit.

    Alexander Isak

On his position... Isak said: "I am a centre-forward. That is my position and where I am best. Then I think I have quite a wide game, so could do other things as well, so that is not for me to decide."

I thought both chances weren't totally clear cut, though interestingly... "Alexander Isak admits that his lack of sharpness after being sidelined since September played a part in his two big FA Cup chances against the Owls. When asked about building back up to full fitness and getting sharp again, Isak told ChronicleLive: "I think the sharpness will help. These are chances I'd usually score (at Sheff Wed)." Love his confidence to be honest
  7. My main takeaways.... When Murphy got one-on-one with the defender and dithered until he got dispossessed Obviously the Wood miss. Don't understand how he's so calm on penalties but folded here. Telling that Windass' finish was tougher and under a lot more pressure but made it look easy. Anderson was disappointing. Appreciate it's harder to shine without some of the talent he usually plays with but still... Isak showed some good stuff - you could tell he was rusty but still very excited to see him back and you can tell he has intelligence and confidence.
  8. Was thinking that instead of penalties, they should play on after ET until someone scores BUT they remove a player from each team every 2 mins (I'm flexible on the timing). Goalies to play on until one scores, or the managers come on.

Using 9/11 as a prop in petty football rivalry is pretty rancid mind you.
  10. Monster will be missing a trick if they don't do a Joelinton special edition
  11. Swear Murphy reads this forum, that's getting ridiculous

Ok, that's Willock been Howed, who's next?

Slightly hollow as well considering Isak cost 60m and has hardly featured.
  15. Yeah, raises our visibility plus hopefully they'll rave about us as a club to team mates (want all the Brazilians)
  16. Imagine his kids being relentlessly drilled in every step of their infantile development.
  17. Was mid-flight yesterday so had to follow the BBC text rather than watch live. Just managed to watch the highlights and was expecting the Wilson goal to be more contentious - nothing in it at all Lovely to see us still push after their goal and we had the better chances overall. Wilson just needed a touch off that Willock strike...

Pretty certain I wouldn't engage with someone fucking stupid enough to mention terrorists in an airport/on a plane
  19. It was obviously a joke. Guy got tagged in an unrelated thread, had a bit of back and forth then people started crying about it FFS.
  20. As an ex-accountant, that disappoints me far more than the "...if Lingard" debacle
  21. Wish people would stop bitching about Man U and how we should stitch them because if Lingard or whatever. It's not about them, it's about our relationship with our own players and how we treat them... that sort of attitude will play dividends rather than treating them as assets. I'm disappointed he's leaving but understand his perspective and think it paints the club in a good light that we haven't stood in his way. I hope it was amicable and he didn't throw his toys out of the pram as that would sour his memory, but until then, cheers Dubs and all the best.

Gotta love RTG... "One thing is for sure, the last 24 hours has shocked the football world with major players and pundits already voicing their disbelief at Neil’s decision. Even Darren Huckerby, who has nothing to do with Sunderland has stated his disbelief. We aren’t alone in being totally shocked by this." Footballing world = Darren Huckerby

So much has been made of our "budget" this window that I think it has made some people nervous that we won't get what we need. If we overspend on 1 player to the extent that we don't get other needed positions in, then I get the concern. Personally though, I've never believed there was a set limit and they'll spend on the right players if available. Cash won't be an issue and FFP not for a couple of years, at which stage revenue via sponsorship and hopefully competitions (Europe ) will keep us going.
