If Steve McLaren can get the gig there's hope for anyone.
-
Snippet from the Sunday Sun article: Pardew, who confirmed Ameobi would not go to the African Nations Cup with Nigeria, said: “I know the crowd weren’t happy when I took off Cisse because he is a goal-scorer. http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2012/12/23/79310-32482436/?

good shout that Oh bring shola on for a midfielder. Put Shola and Cisse upfront and Ba behind them. But that's too forward thinking for the clown we have as manager. To be fair the change he made won us the game.
-
I hope they're not the only options!
-
Played out of position, plays better than a tiring Ba and gets subbed off before the hour. The lad has every right to be p*ssed off and show it. Agree with that - thought he was very unlucky to be taken off, tried his arse off (and was actually pretty effective) in an alien position
-
Aye, that'll be it I reckon, Demba dropping deep to make a 5 when defending.
-
Very rarely see such a one-sided Premier league game - QPR were an absolute disgrace, with the players they've got they should at least be trying to participate in a game of football. Hope Harry takes them down then fucks off into obscurity.
-
I proper love Shola man - delighted for him today.
-
Not too much to complain about today I thought - dominated the match in shite conditions against utterly negative opponents and made crucial subs that won the game - massive result in very difficult circumstances.
-
Perch can cover if needed.
-
Subs: Harper, Ferguson, Bigirimana, Marveaux, Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Shola Ameobi

Same as last week isn't it?
-
I'm not watching, but no.
-
Is there any talk locally of this being in danger of being called off?
-
True enough but if he didn't say this s*** about everything in total contradiction of what we are seeing then fine. He comes out with so much nonsense, reading that you would think we have played 4-3-3/4-5-1 or whatever all season and Jonas has been poor because of it. When the truth is until the last few games Jonas has been playing out wide in a 4-4-2 and been s***. If he's asked a specific question he's in a difficult position though - he has acknowledged that Jonas hasn't played well, but reminded us how good he's been in the past and backed him to come good again, pretty textbook stuff IMO.
-
Must have missed that - what did he say about Jonas?
-
I would agree if he was a complete no-hoper in the Kinnear or Souness mould but you're talking about the reigning Manager of the Year - he's proved he can overachieve on a tight budget and difficult working conditions, and I think that earns him the chance to work through his first really tough period.
-
I'm the opposite, think they've hit something like form at a really bad time for us, and their team on paper is a lot better than their league position suggests.
-
Agreed, on both counts. Probably the right thing too, swapping managers every time we lose a few games hasn't exactly served us well in the past, and the list of potential replacements is horribly depressing.
-
To be honest I think he's right - the bar to avoid relegation is so low these days another 5 or 6 wins would see us safe - with HBA, Cabaye and Taylor back, plus another couple of signings that should be fairly easily achievable. I certainly won't be panicking if we lose. Might not read any forums for a few days though!
-
From some of Pardew's comments think this is a real possibility for the front 6: Obertan - Tiote - Anita - Jonas Ba - Shola
-
Some people think he already is.
-
Saw the first game he played for West Ham and he looked decent, bit of fire back in his belly, but seems to have gone downhill since. Think there's still a very good player in there somewhere. Can bring him back in the summer, help us get promoted again....

It's a defence mechanism. It's like getting wind of your lass being about to dump you and deciding to get in first - never liked the bitch anyway!
