Looking at the table this morning and man it looks so much better. Now we have multiple teams below us that have played more games, and Burnley have finally used up their games in hand and are still five points below us. What a difference this last couple of weeks has made...

Completely agree, it's not a bad idea to rest him a bit before the final run-in considering all of the above points, regardless of whether he has an "injury" I'm sure he's knackered from carrying the team for the last two years. The nice part is Eddie's getting us results without him, so the pressure is off a bit as well.

I rewatched the extended clip of that goal on .tv and it's really incredible. We're defending a set piece, the ball gets cleared straight up in the air, then Schar recognizes that it's going to drop to a Newcastle player and takes off up the pitch. He's already well towards midfield when the ball is properly cleared and he is in a good position to receive the ball. The touch and the pass were both incredible, but that was also an amazing bit of anticipation to make that run when he did. Also Willock's finish gets more delicious every time you watch it, fuck me.

Yeah could have broken his leg easily there. The intent was not bad but it was a horrible challenge imo
-
Thought it was hilarious how he just fired every free kick straight at the goalkeeper. Tbh I don't fully hate it either, a hard shot at the keeper has a better chance of going in than his usual trick if firing it forty feet over the bar.

I was telling my wife this morning after the match his refreshing it was to see our team go a man up and actually put pressure on the opposition for the rest of the game, as one should. It's such a basic thing but I can remember games in previous eras where the opposition would get a red card and if you didn't see it happen you would have no idea they were playing a man down. We'd still be sitting deep and trying to hang on to a 0-0 for fuck's sake! So yeah it's a basic fucking thing but so wonderful to see our team dominating the game and putting some shots on fucking target after the sending off.

Should probably have scored today, but we also had a great example of the intangibles he gives the team here. On Joelinton's goal if you watch it back you can see Wood clean out two defenders, which leaves the open space for Joe to attack. Joe then runs into space and only has to deal with one marker who is also on the wrong side of him and trying to catch up, makes it a free header for him. Not sure that's a goal without Wood causing an absolute ruckus in the box, almost an uncredited assist for me. Also probably should have been a foul when he shoves the first defender three yards backwards but hey they never call that shit so whatever.

Yeah we can really make a team look like shit right now, it's wonderful. I'll take as many of these ugly results as they want to give us.

I only watched the second half (4:30am kickoff over here) but I loved what I saw. Joelinton was absolutely everywhere, Burn and Schar are just classy at the back, and most of all it was so great to see us pushing for a winner in the last ten minutes instead of bunkering down to try to hold onto the 1-1. If we had, like, any of our forwards playing we might have won this, but I will take a draw no questions asked. Also fucking amazed nobody got red carded, there were some wild tackles going in there, the one where Fraser injured himself in particular, but also Burn after the ball went out of play good lord.

I still feel like if that chip off the crossbar in his first game had gone in everything would have been different with this lad. He looked amazing those first few games but got really unlucky with a few chances and also had a few bad misses and at this point I think he has the yips (speaking of yips, see also: Joelinton. I'm 100% positive he knows how to strike a football without hitting his own face). Can't help that he spent a large portion of that difficult period in his career under the wise tutelage of Steve Bruce either...

It also relies on Krafth to boss the entire right wing alone.
-
I dunno, that diving header was pretty wild
-
Aye, that was our pre-season.
-
From the look on his face as he stood up after I believe he thought he was off as well. Would have absolutely fucked us. Bruno in please.
-
Absolutely amazed he didn't get a red for that challenge. Not saying it's always a red card, though it was pretty bad on replay, but that player for this team? It's a miracle he stayed on the pitch.
-
It would be fucking wild if they actually tracked and accurately added stoppage time in games, I don't think anybody is ready for that shit. Tbh I think they should, it's ridiculous that the referee just goes with his vibe on that shit, but it would be a hell of an adjustment period.

Lmao fucking love it. Sports fandom is a special brand of insanity isn't it. I'm with you though!
-
Love how he's in Dubai, all this talking shit about how we're having our camp in Saudi, then we're buying a Manchester player, better fly out to where their camp is in fucking UAE. Such bullshit moral "outrage", every big club is sucking the same oily teats for cash these days. I'm just glad to have caught up with the times and grabbed ourselves a nip so maybe we too can compete for something in the next fifty years.
-
Ah cheers mate, glad to see some coverage.
-
Colo rampaging up the left wing will always be a fond memory for me, not that he was very effective mind you, but it was fun at least.
-
Is there anywhere to watch these games? Wouldn't mind taking in a relaxing 10-0 victory to take my mind off the shit show, uhh, I mean the men's team, for a bit....
-
Imagine bidding on more than one player at once... this is insanity!
-
Aye, amortization is standard for almost all transfer deals these days and is indeed one of the many ways clubs get around FFP.
-
This is where I'm at, I don't know Wood from Adam but I fully expected to play Watford with ASM as our starting center forward. Wood may be limited but he looks like he can convert a chance, and we have lots of players who can do everything but score. Tbh I'm happier with this than some really hyped player who "plays more as a second striker."
-
I didn't get this either. It read like sarcasm so I'll address it that way, a candidate being vocally opposed to racism is not a drawback in my book but what has me excited is the possibilities for our academy. On the Price of Football they are constantly going on about how Chelsea's academy/loan/sell-on system allows them to get around FFP rules. We're going to be up against it with FFP over the next few stages of the club's development and it sounds like he has already shown a good method of mitigating those constraints. I would love to see something similar here where we are constantly developing good players, keeping the best ones and selling the rest to pay for the elite talents we'll need to eventually break into the very top levels of the game. [Non-Football bit ahead] If he also wants to help the club and the league be less racist along the way that sounds good to me! Maybe I'm projecting this anti-anti-racist view onto the earlier poster because I'm so used to seeing that shit over here, but I'd love to get the message across that you don't have to worry. If we start treating black people better it doesn't mean life will get worse for white people, unless your idea of having a good life includes being able to be an unmitigated cunt to other people with no repercussions, you might miss out on that I guess. Again, probably projecting, but I'm just sick of people insinuating that being against racism is a fucking problem or some wild radical stance we should be wary of.
