Listening to the True Faith podcast just now and one lad said without the World Cup we'd be 1st by Christmas, just because of the momentum and how unstoppable we look at the moment. Not saying he's wrong like, we do look amazing and it's a shame to walk away from the table on a heater, but I feel that's missing a key element which is the Eddie Howe factor. One of the huge strengths of this team is the manager and his preparation and training with the players, so giving us an extra six weeks to train and prepare for the second half of the season is a huge advantage over the teams with managers who will spend the break dicking around on yachts in the Mediterranean. Eddie might not want this break, but I guaran-fucking-tee you he will be squeezing full value out of every second of it. If the players get two weeks off to rest and recover, you know wor Eddie will give himself about a day and a half to hug his family and then he'll be digging out his old Bournemouth tapes and getting us ready for the cup game in December. Also, it sucks to be Bournemouth because where other teams might be business as usual in the lower leagues or have half their squad away for the world cup, they'll be up against a side of absolute murderers trying to win their long term position in Eddie's Newcastle project.

Reckon you'd have to dart Tripps and carry him away in a van if you wanted to get him away from the squad...

100% with you on that one, I've been a Miggy apologist since he signed so I'm so happy to see him playing well. I still maintain that if that chip that went off the bar on his debut had gone in we may have seen a very different Almiron the last few years. I would also say that the best part about Miggy is that even if his goal scoring slows down (and I mean 1 in 1 kind of has to) you'll still get all of his other contributions, which are massive especially for Eddie's system. He's just not the type of character to check out if he gets into a slump, he'll bust his ass every minute either way.

I'm not too worried about it, even if he doesn't score the rest of the season he's on what, 9 or 10? We would have taken that number from any of our players other than Wilson before the season. Plus he's scored quite a few match winners and key goals in this weird little pre-WC stretch to put us in this insane position. Obviously I hope he keeps it going and at least gets a few more, but everything at this point is just gravy, especially with ASM and Isak coming back.

Stoked he'll be fresh for the cup game, hoping he starts. I'm way more invested in getting through to the next round than I am in the Chelsea result. Really think this team can win a cup, realistically, this year. We've shown we can beat any team on a day, even if we played City in the final I'd feel like we have a decent shout.

Just want to point out that was a beautiful through ball for Willock's goal as well. Lots of people saying this guy can't pass, and he's not as accurate as some maybe but he also has a couple gorgeous assists already this season.

Say what you want about Wood, that was a fantastic finish to score from a half chance. Exactly what we needed at the time too.
