Had a dream last night that Eddie got sacked for no reason. It was a long and involved stress dream with a lot of weird shit going down, and I wasn't really bothered until that bit. After Eddie got binned I woke up immediately in distress and had to talk myself down

I don't know if 200+ premier league appearances and an FA cup is wasting your career, sounds pretty solid to me.

This is totally valid, but there were also a couple seasons there before ASM where the only real reason to watch the games was that you might see Ayoze do something cool. He didn't score a ton and he could be frustrating, but he also scored some really slick goals and was the only bright spot in a team of absolute cloggers for a while there. I overrate Ayoze's impact for sure, but he'll always be one of my favorites from that era.

Love Eddie's caginess about fitness. I don't think there's any way he plays at Palace, but now they have to prepare for him and worry about him. It's a shocking bit of professionalism at this old club of ours, like a real team or something!
-
How is he in all those team of the year lists? Like he's good and all, but he's always always a good bet for a bit of madness, and he's not THAT good to make up for the inconsistency. Totally honest when I say I wouldn't swap him for Pope.

Ahhh man siem de jong, didn't he have a collapsed lung? What the fuck was going on at our club man?
-
Theo Walcott didn't really pan out as the LeBron of the EPL did he?

Yeah they amortize fees paid and count fees received as lump sums, that's how Chelsea are getting away with their crazy signings at the moment.
-
I'm sure they look bad in the stats, but from the eye test back then I thought both Thauvin and Marveaux were pretty good. I especially think Thauvin got screwed in his time here.

No worries! I used all the replies I received so you definitely made it into the final product, and hey not everyone can live up to Mike's high standards so don't beat yourself up. Now, Deuce on the other hand... That fucker completely ghosted me

Lascalles can probably handle that in between blocking throw ins

Yup, one PL goal in 26 appearances

How many goals did Riviere have for us? Was it one? In five years? Or did he get two? Had to look it up, he was with us for three years, played 31 games and scored 3 goals and 1 assist. Bought for 6.3m Euro and sold for 1.1, so that's only about 1.2 million euros per goal or assist, not counting wages. Fucking bargain actually.

Is it that much of an upgrade? Chris Wood is much better on penalties like

https://newcastle-online.org/topic/30356-how-does-newcastle-online-fit-in-to-your-quotofflinequot-life/ Here's the original thread, the thesis was about how forums can support an individual who is learning a new skill (in this case, football fandom) by helping them develop their identity as a legitimate practitioner. It sounds belabored as fuck typing it out now, but that's grad school for you. I used this forum and the old Sherdog grappling forum from my other hobby (Brazilian Jiujitsu) as examples of online communities and interviewed members to use as case studies. Funnily enough, Mike was one of the key case studies for the project. Would you believe he's not even from Newcastle?

When I was in highschool, around the turn of the century, pro evo was serious business and Newcastle were my favorite team in that. They were good enough to beat any team in the game, this was with shearer, kluivert, Solano, and Robert, but they weren't considered one of the "good" teams, so it was a good choice for bragging rights as no one could say "you only won because you're playing Madrid" or whatever. I watched some games back then but it wasn't on TV much until the NBC deal which was during Pardew's tenure. In a way that's nice because I didn't really experience throwing away the title etc, just the normal experience of following a shit team. It was the characters of that era that got me really invested, Ben Arfa was my first favorite player, then cabaye, tiote, Jonas, there were a lot of likeable players in that team. Then when things went shit I was too far gone. I also wrote my master's thesis about this forum, so even when the team was shit and the footy wasn't worth watching I spent a lot of time here. Now it's nostalgic for the old days of Web 1.9 before YouTube and Facebook ruined everything

In college I had a cop follow me home driving drunk, all the way into my trailer park. I didn't even notice him until I pulled into my driveway and he cruised past behind me. My reaction was to run inside and turn off all the lights and hide in case they came back for me That was also when I retired from drunk driving, I figured I'd used up all my luck at that point.

Does the premier league / FA have any rules about this for suspensions? In the NFL they have a whole crime & punishment schedule covering everything from DUIs to murdering your spouse.

Well, here's Maxi's chance to get back in the side.

Good lad Joe, proactive.

this one always gets me, one of the better nicknames of all time.

This guy is so fucking good. It's mad to see someone who's so good on the ball, dribbling, touch, etc, and also works so fucking hard off the ball. I feel like usually it's one or the other. (ASM and Longstaff for example)
