  1. Doesn't mean it wasn't the right decision. We were more likely to score through Hatem than anyone last night. 2-0 and 10 men down, sacrificing 'the finisher' makes sense. It makes as much sense as taking off the less potent but harder working striker. It's a 50/50 call, and not one to get our knickers in a twist over. It's not. I'm not.

  3. Probably thought it was the quickest 60 minutes of his life.
  4. We're Newcastle United and we're working through some issues right now.
  5. Again, when so little has changed why is it daft to Judge us? seriously? judge us after a few games against teams around the middle of the league. Teams that have improved themselves more than we have? I'm not saying we're doomed but we are in proper trouble as things stand. Im not sure, Man City are no measure of us, we have maybe 2 players that would get near thier 11. they spend infinetely more money than us, and can do that 4 -0 to far better sides. dont get me wrong- Im a long way from happy- but relegation? need to see more games. No, but our performance last night is both a measure and continuation of us.
  6. The end of last season proved that The City players have hearts the size of peas. However now they've got a new brilliant manager with a positive outlook and they're revitalised. You may be right but we are only one game into the season and its far too early to judge. The sheer talent in their squad is mind boggling and they quite clearly have the weapons to win the league convincingly. But playing a side like us at home on a warm August night is certainly not a test of their heart. Yes but coming off the back of last season what has changed? We have one new player! Aside from that it's the same manager, same players, same result and same performance. My post was about Man City. I was simply saying that last night doesn't prove that last seasons "lack of heart" issues have vanished. I don't think it revealed much about Pellegrini either, although we now know he clearly isn't anti 4-4-2. Sorry, I read it as you quoting that post as part of a critique of Pardew.

  9. You have easily enough good players to not be anywhere near the relegation places. Watching the match last night it was pretty gobsmacking to see largely the same bunch of players turn out such a half-arsed, not bothered, unmotivated performance, much as they did last season. When you were making signings last year, you were the envy of a good chunk of the league for having identified so many decent French players, and then the same last January when you brought in Sissoko. I specifically remember, for example, on numerous occasions as the January window closed and you and us were both struggling, hearing Villa fans reflect that you had successfully bought yourselves out of trouble. You need new faces in now, that's obvious, but there is a long way from that state of affairs to what you have now, which is somehow managing to fashion out of a decent squad of players, a side which looks like considerably less than the sum of its parts. Baffling. See 2008/2009 - Although there was the turmoil to go along with it, the parallels are there in many respects.
  10. If the bid came in on Friday it's looking like an orchestrated excuse. He hasn't got a clue. He hasn't put out a well functioning team for over a season.

  12. It's disgusting. Neither are very good at passing. Whatever you think of the actual players, it's just not a system that gets the best out of anyone. If Pardew really believes that we just need to add another central striker to score more goals he is doomed, as much as it pains me to say! I think Gomis would help link the midfield to the strikers.
  13. I just can't see past Pardew at the moment.
  14. Yes. Largely due to the changes in Strikers we have had. I think Nolan would have struggled to be as effective. I also think Cabaye is a better footballer, that being said there is an argument that Pardew would have been able to get more from Nolan.
  15. Everything that's come in from player sales has been spent on new players while the club has been in the Premier League under Ashley. Not always in a timely manor like, and we should certainly be spending more but the fact is we do reinvest money from player sales, not just some of it but all of it. It took 30 months for all the Carroll money to spent. There's no excuses for not spending it within 8 months. I'd rather we took our time and spend wisely than waste it all on s****. That seems to be lost on the impatient crowd. I'd rather we didn't get relegated thanks. Cabaye isn't a player who make any kind of difference in a relegation fight, in fact he might, he might cause us more problems with his petulance and dirtiness. He'd go straight for a red card so he didnt have to be involved just like his best mate. Its these cowardly individuals which are costing us, great when things are good, but when up against the wall they p*ss their pants and want to go home. Well go down because of Pardew, nowt to do with selling Cabaye and not spending it all in two weeks and the winter window. I'd rather we milk arsenal/PSG or whoever for all we can, try and replace him but if it doesn't happen try again in January. What I don't want is us buying another player mentally as weak as him or his pal, who only think of themselves because that kind of replacement will see us go down. Cabaye scored with a half-volley outside the penalty box against Aston Villa (A) In two home games against Southampton and Stoke City, he converted a penalty and scored a free kick goal, respectively. 3 monents, wow Asked not to play last night. Doesn't want to play for us again. Yes he'll do we'll in a relegation fight. Made a difference in a relegation fight. Question his mentality if you want but his quality could easily make a difference.
  16. They also beat them in the cup final.
