A genuine left back in the team and suddenly Foden left wing isn’t as bad. I know it’s tough with the pressure and most teams here are capable teams that shouldn’t be underestimated, but I’m desperate to just see us look like we are enjoying our football. Loosen up and be more expressive.

Fooling absolutely nobody acting like that’s how you pronounce Fagioli.

‘His agent flew up from London. I explained what a great club Newcastle was, how the supporters would adore Modric and how we were looking for someone to spark us off. Then Jimenez piped up. 'Can I come in here?' he said. 'I don’t think Luka is good enough for the Premier League. He’s too lightweight. He’s decent, but he’s not good enough.'

Croatia v Italy the better choice tonight?

Why is our team constantly leaked 24+ hours before kickoff?

Would have put Wharton or Bellingham in alongside Rice personally, but Gallagher will do a job. Just need to allow Rice some freedom to support more in attack, he doesn’t need to be so anchored. Stones and Guehi have been solid, give them some trust and allow Rice off the leash.

Good sign we are resuming so quickly?

This doesn’t look good at all, the players hurrying up the stretcher.

Can’t look past a convincing Hungary win. Would love it to be competitive though.

Gakpo doing what AG should have been allowed to do for England.

The indecisiveness I understand, it’s a tough one to commit to claiming. I don’t understand falling sideways and making yourself as small as possible.

Trippier’s role for England probably sums things up for me at the minute. 1 - Push up high. 2 - Occupy space. Perfect for a switch. 3 - Get ball. 4 - ???? 5 - Ball back to the general area of the centre halves.

I feel we do put a lot of responsibility onto our players to read the game and react accordingly. The issue is, it’s so much easier to collectively decide to drop off than it is to all decide to push up again. It’s why most top level clubs are micro managed to the smallest details, most players are happiest when they can follow strict instructions and if it doesn’t work, it’s on the manager. At the very least, I do believe that defensive line is left up to the players to work out, that’s why we seen Trippier and Pickford trying to get everyone 15-20 yards further forward. I think 4 players in the last 2 games have been given essentially a free role. Foden, Kane, Bellingham and Trent. Effect the game the way you see best. We are complicating things too much for ourselves. It’s a PFM thing to say I know, I’m sorry, but back to basics and I don’t mean route one. Push higher up, Bellingham as a box to box alongside Rice, Foden in the 10, Gordon and Saka driving at their full backs. We’re in a good spot, 3rd game gives us a good opportunity to go back to the drawing board.

He’s Irish mate.

Bro ragdolled so hard he now double spaces his words.

May we never, ever hold a tournament in the likes of Qatar ever again.

We’ve slipped off here, second goal before half time feels very important.

Just the start we needed. Good stuff. But also FUCK Southgate for playing him as a 10.

Thoughts on Linekars footwear?

I’d been thinking in the last few days we should go to a back 3 with Walker as RCB and Trent RWB. Get Trent finding the switch to Gordon. Can see the logic with the line up he’s gone with, though it wastes Foden imo.

Tournament starting off far, far better than the World Cup so far.
