I agree. You could tell Pardew wanted to kick off but held back. Takes a big man to do that, it isn't easy. Have to think about what kind of example it sets. If he kicks off and things go wrong again in the future with officials, do we expect Tiote to go retaliating or players to get booked for dissent? The way Ferguson, for example, goes on is a disgrace. Referees should be trained to a higher standard, and the FA should do more to punish players in an appropriate way. A 3 match ban for McManaman would be a joke. The problem isn't going to be solved by kicking off like some Fergie-lite. If Pardew kicks off at the weekend, next weekend you'd see kids all over the north east kicking off with referees. Shouldn't be forgotten just how much of a role model the manager and players of NUFC can be.

Bottom line is, McManaman was on his full home debut, Haidara wasn't going anywhere fast with the ball, and he's saw a chance to make a mark on the game. Disgusting stuff, I really hope he is punished heavily for it as that is the kind of challenge that changes players negatively. Wish Haidara a speedy recovery. Liked the look of him so far in a Toon shirt, so hope he comes back stronger.

Can't see the point in getting all riled up about a situation that we couldn't change at the time. Getting in the ref's face could go one of two ways, he is more lenient towards us or he is harsher towards us. We're not Manchester United and Pardew is not Ferguson. It pisses me off no end to see managers/players get in the ref's face, he isn't suddenly about to change his mind and it'll only get the players agitated. Two very important home games coming up that I'd much rather see Pardew on the touchline for.

Fuck that. Sometimes you need to just be honest. What good would it do? He gets a touchline ban and a fine, McManaman still gets off lightly and Haidara is still injured. Pardew has to set an example to young fans, the players and his backroom team. If the club wish to make a complaint, I'm sure they'll do it through the correct channels.

Kept himself composed well. Let's not go losing our dignity over this and start mouthing off at officials.

I'm not privvy to Ranger's spending, but I'd imagine he'd run into financial trouble sooner rather than later if he doesn't manage to get a good contract in the next few years. His pay-off will see him alright for a while. All too often, footballers only look at the short-term. The fancy cars, the glamorous girlfriends, nice houses.. Sound investment would have been my thinking in Ranger's situation. 5 year deal on decent wages, and it's likely he'll have nothing to show for it in 10 years.

Will be sad to see him eventually go, but we signed a great centre back in the January window, just need another one to compete with Taylor. If Mbiwa keeps up his performances, I don't think Coloccini will be as big of a miss as he would have been.

Plenty games in Europe, a good amount of Premier League time, I think we've handled him well this year. Settled into the club now, possibly a loan move in the summer, it's been a good season for him.

I think Guus Hiddink and his attention to detail will mean they will have a fair idea of Adam Campbell and what he can do. Would like to see him get a run-out, but hopefully not in a situation where we are needing a goal to keep the game alive.
