Closed for business then. Until the bidding hots up... if it gets close to £20m by 5pm, he'll be away. Deja Vu to Andy Carroll day.

Krul (possibly) out then.... did Reina end up anywhere yet??? #Hope

Again, why do people think that we'll have that money? We sell players in installments and buy them upfront. If we sell Gayle now Rafa will see about £5m of the fee. Do we know this is still the case? I know the Sissoko deal was supposedly installments, but that was last summer and for a high fee, which still boils down to a reasonable amount into the pot per year. If Rafa has asked for, and gotten control of transfer targets, maybe he's also asked that the payment terms were changed so he has the full funds to spend from sales? As for Gayle, for some reason this isn't bothering me as much as previous sales - that is dependant on Rafa getting a replacement in by tomorrow night, of course. But as for Gayle the player - perhaps he found his level last season. Something has clearly changed over the summer, either with him or the managers feeling towards him - but if Rafa is happy to let him go, then maybe he doesn't rate him at this level?

Don't know much about Origi (if i'm honest), but is he good enough for Liverpools alleged insistence that he'd play every week?

Hoping for two more in according to this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/08/29/newcastle-united-hoping-add-two-new-signings-squad-managerrafael/ Think we've given up on replacing Elliot, which is disappointing. Said it last week, I think thats understandable while we still have Elliot, Woodman, Darlow and Krul at the club, with Sels still on the books too. Had they been able to offload Krul and/or Darlow, then I think they would have moved for a keeper. Guessing the situation is same as outfield players... i.e. need to move wages for non-playing squad members first, and more important than the fees we get for them. Just hope Jackie boy goes to Hull, and the wages free'd up gives us some room to move and hopefully get a couple (or 3) over the line by Thursday night!

SSN just showed Sullivan arriving at the West Ham training ground. So summit might be happening/have happened with with Bilic.

Get in Mitro, you crazy Barsteward!

Get In Clarky!!!!! Matt Ritchie though..

Meh, if he goes, he goes. Unfortunately, the media will be rubbing their hands that they have their big Newcastle headlines again. We're not allowed nice things up here. We finally had a decent, honourable manager who wanted to do what he could to change the club, and get us back where we hope to be. But form day one, the media have been writing about him not staying... then when he stayed, it was all about when he would leave. Even the journos with a supposed local leaning seem to revel in headlines about him leaving or resigning. I guess I've just been expecting it, to a degree, and if/when it happens, it wont be a shock.

Riviere gone, de Jong almost gone... if we can offload Colback too it could be seen as a positive window! Would have liked to offload a keeper too, to see if Rafa could bring one of his own in (Reina still possible?). However, with one out on loan and 4 still here, I can understand why we cant really justify bringing another in until we can get shot of Krul and/or Darlow.

As someone posted yesterday, hopefully we do have money left to spend, but getting the deadwood (high) wages off the bill has been the problem, and more important than the fee received.
-
When no top player's agent accepts these terms will you complain that we have no quality in the squad? It's always going to be a Catch 22 situation. I'd personally gamble on a smaller squad all round. depends on the signing. Some would go for it, players like Riviere and Colback were making a big step up joining newcastle, so they would likely be more willing to accept a deal like this. At least we now seemed to have stopped dishing out those crazy 5 and 6 year contracts to players.

Disappointing... but think sending off and sissoko sub changed the game. Hopefuly injuries not too bad. Not panicking..... yet. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Definitely. I would take Reina over any other keeper we can afford. Still think (hope) that once we can get rid of Krul and/or Darlow, we might move for Reina, if his situation is unchanged (i.e still at Napoli, and not signed new contract).
-
Allandinho defo soonds better!
-
"But Clement and Swansea could face competition from West Ham United, who Wilshere is open to joining, and Newcastle United." Just seems like we are tagged onto the rumours for any mid-range player now.
-
Hehe, cheeky dig at the mackems, there. Damn, just beaten to it.
-
Yeah I wouldn't mind Reina here, but can't see Mike/Lee signing off another Keeper purchase until we can get rid of Krul and/or Darlow first, and preferably for decent fees, not just loans.
-
Hmm, would be a lot more optimistic of him going and/or getting that fee, had they (or any club) approached us for him. Surely it doesn't give the selling club a position of strength in a deal, when you/the agent is touting the player around?
