With us currently a bit light in midfield, could we see who is currently a free agent? And if so, would any of them be a good fit/stopgap for us?

Watched the Tifo video on that a few days ago.

What would happen is seven dozen threads would appear on RTG about sportswashing

Sunderland asked if Newcastle could send a team down for a behind closed doors friendly. Eddie told the lads and said it was completely voluntary for those who wanted to go. Anyway, the day comes around and only Bruno and Dan Burn show up. They think 'sod it, we're here now so we might as well'. So they play against a sunderland 11 and it's 0-0 going into the break. Burn suddenly realises he has to go as he has to go and get measured for his new suit. Bruno says "go for it mate, I'll keep playing". So off pops BDB and Bruno carries on. Next day at training Dan asks Bruno how the match went. "ah, we lost 1-0". "That's pretty good to be fair" says Burn. "thanks", says Bruno, "I got sent off just after half time as well".

The amount of fake blue tick accounts in the comments makes me cringe.

Wait, what?!?!

Never a fan. Silly name. Still, did well under Howe so good luck to the lad.

Under ashley I was underwhelmed by anyone coming in because I knew they'd turn to shit. I've said before how that regime made me apathetic to football for years but I'm pretty excited to see a new player. I know we don't seem to be able to collectively agree on him, but I want to see what he can do in my team, a team I'm properly excited about for the first time in forever, coached by a man who has proved himself already to have good vision and judgement. I can't wait to see him in black and white because I just want to enjoy the new player buzz. Also, I like @TotalWar's avatar

It'll be Moyes I reckon

Have we stopped with our annual loan bid for Hamza Choudhury now?

I'm always willing to bring my thinking and knowledge up to speed so can anyone help me with understanding the current first 11 numbering and positioning? For example, a deeper midfielder was always a 4 but now it's a 6. Where can I find a good explanation of what number refers to where these days? EDIT: I mean generally in football, not our team specifically.

I spent a solid 30 seconds working out what tune I sing this to.

I watched a Tifo video on what is wrong with man utd's midfield and it explained that it's The Scottish Footballer's* fault as he is always in the "cover shadow" when his defenders have the ball. Reminiscent of jack colback so not a fan. *it might be unlucky to mention his name, a bit like theatre.

What about that Connor Gallagher bloke from chelsea? Were we actually linked somewhere? If so, all of that went quiet. Would he be a good get for us?

It's so good how he's being gradually managed back. The fact that he hasn't been rushed in the hope he might get us some lucky result here or there at the risk of his long term fitness is great. Even if he has been missed, we are still getting results because of game plans and tactics as well as proper medical care. I can imagine other managers saying something like "right, you've had a month off. On you go." Makes me wonder how many professionals could have had their careers/potential curtailed over the years and what a selling point to potential new signings; we actually care about your health and career.

That use of "so called" is just rotten. It's better on the letter but on the rtg post it's "so called Dawn..." FFS. Also; Marapause is brilliant. Right up there with Fewmin rights.

I reckon they'll go for bruce.

I watched the match in the pub for the first time in years and enjoyed it. I actually cared again and got excited watching us, draw or not.

I don't know much about this McTominay, is he like the second coming of Nicky Butt?

The original Football Manager on the BBC computer you could play Nigel Spink AND Peter Shilton at the same time.

What about that Sbrakia guy at the mackems? Didn't he do well-ish? Roeder did canny for both us and West Ham, although he wasn't well at the end of his reign there iirc.
