This is certainly true at senior manager/director level. It's not so much about getting the best though, it's about the time they get found out for their ability, and if they stay on then the city loses confidence in the company and the shareprice drops and then that is aimed at them. Conversely, if they are good (or get lucky) then they still go at these times on a high and move onto new pastures.

Slight deviating from the topic, but on the BBC Newcastle sports shows a few years ago they had a cricket reporter and he did my nut in. He obviously had a list of questions in front of him to ask his interviewee and he would just go through them, acknowledging the answer with a mere "uh huh", no follow up or conversational tone, and just moved to his next pre-prepared question. I'm not a massive cricket fan, but he did other sports too and was the same regardless of the subject. It sounded so dismissive and kind of ignorant and he was on for the years I used to listen without any improvement or development. I really can't remember his name though. Sorry, but reading these replies has awoken that irritation in me so wanted to vent

That post by exile with the towers picture? Someone did call him out on it at some length with a summary of bin laden's troubled relationship with Saudi Arabia. Thing is, when I've looked for it today (and it was a comment not long after him posting his own tweet like a proper tosser) it's been deleted. I can't tell if that was the mods or the poster but if it was the mods then they have some serious issues (like we didn't already know that).

I see they're doing their usual schtick of someone making a joke comment earlier in the thread and then a couple of pages later (or even just the next page) some some other twat with no attention span repeats the same joke. I mean, I get it if it's a super long thread and you just pick up the last few pages but this was early on. Is it just me or does anyone else jump back a few pages if there's a thread on here that interests them just to get a feel for the conversation? I have fond memories of Coventry from when Micky Quinn played for them so I'm a little bit gutted for them. I'd say I'd rather it happened to X club but I don't think I'd wish him on any club, not even the mackems. Except man u. I'd absolutely love that.

I watch this youtuber called Lazy Masquerade who does mystery videos. He's just done one on unsolved murders and the first one was about all of these stuffed rubbish bags left all over Minneapolis. On checking them they were found to have body parts in. People were thinking organized crime etc and then someone found the head on a park bench and it had P E R V carved into the forehead. It turned out to be a local man with mental health issues called Adam Johnson. Seems he was troubled but was trying to get well and was generally well liked in the community. He did have a criminal conviction for over disciplining a child rather severely. A theory about this is that someone checked his conviction and thought it meant something more sinister and butchered him. Now, here's the Sunderland connection; he had a resemblance to rtg's favorite predator and so it was thought the murderer mistook american Adam for him, checked the records and put two and two together. Nothing has been proved yet though.

I never disliked Villa until that relegation, in fact I grew up during Ron Atkinson's European side in the early 90s and rather enjoyed watching them. I have zero idea where that bitterness came from either, it was just so random. Maybe Villa fans are also MLFs as well.
