  1. I've never heard this one, but there was a story I heard on the 3 Legends that Bernie read out where one of their players were swapped. I can't remember which player but I think he was an Eastern European defender. Apparently he was really good for them but went away back to his own country (maybe for an international break or something) and when he came back he was utter shit. The theory went that the original player had been replaced with a lookalike who didn't have the same footballing ability. Whilst we are collectively thinking about the answer for the OP's question, does anyone remember this 3 Legends story and which player it was? EDIT: This was about 10-15 years ago.
  2. Had to watch that 3 or 4 times before I caught on...then maybe another 3 or 4 times. Just to make sure. But yeah, Soccer AM was like Loaded Magazine but on TV and mainly football. Didn't really like it that much. Now the first few seasons of Fantasy Football, I thoroughly enjoyed those.
  3. Don't really consider him one of the WUM brigade tbh, he's just a bitter ex-player who hasn't come to terms with the fact he was a shit manager. If he had ever been considered a successful manager then his views would be of more interest, but he wasn't. He won some stuff at Liverpool on the back of the groundwork done before him, then he promptly turned that to shit. He also a trophy or two at Rangers where he spent much more than Celtic, the only other club in the league capable of winning anything. Not disputing, but he also won the League Cup at Blackburn. Yet he still went on to prove he was a useless manager with us. No idea what the circumstances were with his short term success at Blackburn, but he proved at Liverpool that winning trophies meant nothing there, they went on a downward spiral so fast the longer he stayed there. They were almost unrecognisable as a big club by the time they kicked him out. And absolutely no one acknowledges the Ali Dia fiasco when he was at Southampton.
  4. Not gonna read a dm article, but wasnt the ruling the equivalent of a draw? Barclays were shady but she didnt warrant compensation was how I read it.
  5. Wow, really inspires confidence does wor Bruce. Those problems being we have an overinflated binbag masquerading as our <whiny voice> "head coach"?
  6. Gonna try and do this without the difficult choice of shoehorning players into roles they really weren't the best at (but I liked them). Gonna be tough. ~~Disclaimer~~ some of these I just liked, dont care if you judge me Srnicek - Czech Reuplic Hottiger -Switzerland Dabizas -Greece Albert - Belgium Pistone - Italy Solano - Peru Speed - Wales Ketsbia - Georgia Papavasilou - Cyprus Kluivert - Holland MacDonald - England Subs: Given - ROI Acuna - Argentina Hughes - NI Allen - Scotland Tiote - Ivory Coast Mirandinha - Brasil Almiron - Paraguay No way am I picking shearer with his current wankfest/lack of criticism over bruce. I wanted beardsley too but I couldn't after his conduct at the club. Honourable mention to Rob Lee who I would have liked in there.
  7. Yep. Think the 11th choice was just some bizarre reverse PR. No doubt in my mind he was top of a shortlist of no more than three. The boat was properly pushed out to get this creep away from Wednesday and on board.
  8. Wait, it's pronounced Chris Wow? I always thought it was like "Pluff" as in Jane. EDIT: ignore me, I listened again and it's like Waf.

    Steve McClaren

Awful appointment. A soggy bit of mouldy bread in a suit. Nowhere near as odious as that prick pardew, but he was alex ferguson's right hand man at man utd during bruce's playing time so he had a hand in shaping our current incumbent incompetent.
  10. I'd love to know if he talks like he types. With air quotes over certain words? Not taking the piss, it's good to have a distinctive style. I can pretty much tell a lot of you by writing style. Please no tests or follow up questions
  11. Watch him do a boris or a trump tactic and suddenly develop covid before having to deal with a difficult circumstance then miraculously recover within a very short space of time. The equivalent of pulling a sickie when you don't want to do a presentation at work. Of course, he'll have the added bonus of extra sympathy from edwards, talk sport, the s*n and the like.
  12. This would be close to my list, although I'd swap around allardyce and daglish. Maybe even replace Daglish with gullet.
  13. Pretty much where I turned it off. The CV comment was staggering.
  14. Rafa was tough, didnt care about personal lives. De Matteo (or Martinez, he changes his mind part way) said you shouldnt have kids and you're a champion's league team and bruce is such a wonderful human being and great manager. Knew who your wife was etc. It's screen punchable like yeah.
  15. Always got the feeling that was part of this shitty regime's way of getting people's hopes up by mentioning the likes of Viera, then giving the job to carver to make ashley, charnley and co giggle for a bit at our dismay.
  16. I think time is an issue with this. I hate bruce, but pardew was the original smarmy, yes man ashley sucker. Bruce is just another one, albeit with a better playing career. They are both in the shit sack of mouldy diseased twats who have 'managed' (or 'head coached') here but i'd rather our once proud club wasnt associated with either of these useless arseholes. Seriously though, you know that pundit off of BT sports who calls the dickhead pundits out? Maybe he could ask the likes of merson et al if they will head the charge to hire bruce for arsenal (or the preferred club of whichever pundit is balls deep in his guts at the time).
  17. Glorious - with monkey mitts hoying the towel in to signal a win for the takeover! I'd make the towel out of velcro so it hurts when he throws it.
  18. "PIF have told Ashley to sack Bruce" Is that the line from your source, mate? Have I missed something? Where has Mimms said this ? page 596 I can't see where he's said "PIF have told Ashley to sack Bruce" Because he hasn’t. Yet IMTTS is insisting that he has. And people now jump on that as they can’t be bothered to read through the posts to find out for themselves. Yet again, IMTTS is sowing negativity and lying for no reason other than to be obnoxious. Yeah he hasn’t said it. He did say months ago PIF want Bruce gone straight away if they take over. However posting cryptic messages about Bruce packing his bags in the takeover thread rather than the Bruce thread suggests Bruce is going at the request of PIF Ultimately tho fuck knows. So little to go on I absolutely hate that I might be sticking up for penn/imtts/lee ryder cosplay king/edwards but is he not saying that his source told him this? So he hasnt said this on the board but he has been told this in real life?
  19. I like the supermarket analogy but why would, say, Tesco be bothered if Sainsbury's swapped out with ALdi? The individual teams surely cannot give a toss who makes them up as long as they are not affected. Why would the PL care? Just to respond Pons Alias' post that I kind of poopoo'd in my original question; it's cant be "because London" unless my knowledge of geography is massively out of date and the borders of London have expanded to Lancashire Edit: My bad, i didnt read Pons' post correctly and if I fill in the unsaid part I get it. They wanted another London based team. Sorry!
  20. You know this thing about the "top 6"? I dont really get it when it comes to some of the teams. If I use Tottenham as my key example, they havent always been at the top of the table during our PL history so all that should happen is we replace them as part of this top 6. Man city were up and down until they got a sheikh. So what is the big deal with us being up amongst the contenders? It cant be a North/South thing as Liverpool and the two mancs are from the north west so what's the problem with us? Why are we specifically not allowed nice things?
  21. Personally I think it if it was 100% dead in the water we would have a leak from somewhere saying so or even a statement from seller/club/buyer. But we have had a statement from the buyer. They stated "we have come to the decision to withdraw our interest in acquiring Newcastle United Football Club". I don't see how much more explicit they could be? This hasn't actually been made public. What's been made public is that Ashley has engaged QCs to potentially pursue the Premier League over the legitimacy of their non-approval of the takeover. These are two very, very different things. The latter does not require the consortium to still be involved or interested. Again, there's been absolutely nothing to suggest that the Saudis are still interested or pursuing this. Genuinely not a single morsel of evidence. The takeover attempt no longer exists, and there's no good reason beyond blind optimism to think otherwise. IMTTS =Is Mightier Than The Sword? Can't imagine who this is.
  22. From what I can tell from FB posts from pals in Morecambe, there seems to be a lot of unrest behind the scenes so this may have some effect on the playing staff.
  23. Yeah, I thought I saw it disproved somewhere. Also I pray to the gods that this post takes us to a fresh page. Edit: the gods were merciful.
  24. "You'll have to ask MA" says journalist whose actual job it is to ask questions and report back to the public.
