  1. Don’t have a clue who to even dream about at present. Feels like we need to know where we stand. Owner, manager, war chest or small change purse.

Ideal for such a pantomime club. nice one

Surprised if people are genuinely disappointed that they have/are about to be sold. Firstly, change of ownership is risky, could just as well be out of the frying pan into the fire and we’d hardly be thrilled with the Peckham International Trading Company ‘portfoilo’ (Oxford, Eastleigh, Sunlun) if they were buying us. Secondly, they are going to be in the third tier, man. Again. Who cares and good luck to them. They’re irrelevant.

Think there were 22 clubs still in the Premier League in 95 1994-95 22 teams. 1995-96, went to 20.
  5. I didn’t/don’t like leaks re contract negotiations before the season end. Smacks of eyes being off the ball. Last two performances kind of align with that conclusion. I sincerely hope that if Rafa is angling for assurances it is about transfer funds rather than anything else and even then the November-December disaster zone (points wise) seems to co-occur with too much off-field speculation and bemoaning our quality/need to strengthen. Let’s just finish the season fully focussed on results. Then get into negotiating.

    Still... third tier (again).
  7. Don’t know how much you’ve seen of Sane, but he has been phenomenal this season. Personally I rate him much more than Sterling (even with the latter’s upturn in form —well he’s scored more goals and I suspect missed even more chances than usual).

    What!?! He’s Keegan’s son?
  9. Liam O’Brien at joker Shearer vs Spurs (semi—gave me one anyway) Platt vs Belgium Tino Barca (both headers)
  10. Fresher legs and minds? Perhaps a contributory factor to our last third turn around/remarkable form (so far...).

Black and white hat and shirt combination = Geordie droog.
  12. Liverpool 2-1 Stoke Burnley 1-0 Brighton Crystal Palace 2-0 Leicester Huddersfield 1-1 Everton Newcastle 2-0 West Brom Southampton 2-2 Bournemouth Swansea 1-1 Chelsea West Ham 0-3 Man City Man Utd 1-0 Arsenal Spurs 2-0 Watford
  13. Never liked the traditional yellow and green change kit personally. Would love to see the hooped ‘Entertainers’ away kit rolled out again.
  14. From what I’ve seen makes Atsu look slow. Also makes him look a good crosser of the ball.

True! Went through a phase of calling people chod-bonce. Not to be confused with chod-bounce (a game which, ideally, requires some dietary preparation).
  16. Adult sized replica shirts were very rare in those days, small, medium and large were the only sizes available. It was unusual to see kids in them as well, I was the only lad in my school with the full kit, got it for Christmas 1973. FKW I’ve got a pic of me in one in 1973 (aged 6). With school shoes (didn’t have Football boots yet) and can recall using thick elastic bands under the socks to hold them up. Recall my granny (who bought the strip for my birthday) warning I’d end up with varicose veins!
  17. This one appeared with the headline: Were these two 1974 (cup final) fans the first to wear replica shirts at a UK match?
  18. Looking for images of us in white socks, I found some great old pics. Love this one: http://l7.alamy.com/zooms/3d05bbb943b547f3ba6ef3d8feb14877/may-04-1974-fa-cup-final-liverpool-beat-newcastle-3-0-photo-shows-e10wkw.jpg

  20. Looked confident and capable. A bit more time to get on the same wavelength and a better quality final ball to him (and from him, more consistently) and I think he’ll improve us.
  21. His mother looks young; he looks much older than his stated age. Genes!

I think the timing of Allardyce’s departure and Moyes arrival (late July 2016), with the limited time to prepare for the season, and some dubious last minute signings, free transfers and loans, sealed their fate. They’ve been in freefall ever since.
