AFC Bournemouth vs Newcastle United - 24/02/18 @ 1500 - No TV

Well here’s hoping for another narrow victory. I think they’re due a home defeat. In that given their quality four home wins in a row would be unusual. -

They have played 13 home games. Won 5, drew 3 and lost 5. Yep, , missed-out the August games: lost to Watford 2-0 and Man City 2-1. So LLWDLWLDLDWWW. -

In their home games this season (most recent first) they beat Stoke, Arsenal, and Everton all 2-1, drew 3-3 with West Ham, lost 4-0 to Liverpool, drew 1-1 with Southampton, lost 2-1 to Burnley, beat Huddersfield 4-0, lost 1-0 to Chelsea, drew 0-0 with Leicester, and beat Brighton 2-1. So played 11 won 5 (four 2-1 wins and a 4-0), drew 3, lost 3. -
Tick-tock... only a matter of time.

I think a top striker will create many more goal scoring opportunities for Ayoze, both directly, i.e. more knock downs/lay offs, and indirectly, i.e. occupying defenders and thereby creating space.

Hopefully in a far distant land, Brunei would do. Or China, perhaps? Anywhere but here. Please.

nice one! -
‘Health & safety breach;’ probably been fined a year’s wages. Happens again and he’s literally paying to play.
-
HeHe! Thought that might take a turn for the worse with Alan Thompson’s missus!! ?

Isn’t it great! -
I bet he feels great this morning. And deservedly so. Welcome to Newcastle, Martin. Sometimes, just every now and again, it’s a special place to be.

Islam Slimani - Returned to Leicester

Suspect plenty of ex-pat Algerians have Twitter, plus Sporting have a big fan base. Chuck in more recent Leicester and Newcastle followers and that probably covers it. Is there a way of tracking when number of followers increase? -
The only really disappointing results/performances, in the last ten games, were Brighton at home and away to Chelsea in the FA Cup. Diame didn’t start either game. He’s really making a difference.

What a satisfying day. Similar formation to away game, and the stats didn’t work out too different in the end (below). Yesterday we had 10 shots (3 on) to their 13 (6 on), and 36% possession. Just a much better result and thankfully (despite our usual penalty curse) we got the rub of the green this time. Agree that Lejeune deserves a mention too, on reflection (bar a couple of misplaced passes at OT) he played well in both games. Football / Re: Newcastle United vs Manchester United - 11/02/2018 @ 14:15 - Live on Sky « on: Yesterday at 10:09:26 am » I thought we/he set-up perfectly at Old Trafford. Scored the important first goal and could have had more. Gayle and Joselu started, with Shelvey and Hayden flanked by Ritchie and Murphy. It worked well, in the main. Don't think the defence covered themselves in glory, mind (Manquillo, Clark, Lejeune, Yedlin and Elliot in goal) but tbf they were up against some great players. We had 12 shots (5 on) to their 16 (7 on) with 35% of the possession. -
Yosser Hughes (Bernard Hill): “You’re Graeme Souness, you look like me.”

Or the classic from the same show:
-
Played well against Man Utd away, as well; without Lascelles alongside him (if I remember correctly).
-
Where did you see/hear Rafa mention anything about who the centre forward would be?
-
Apparently, he’s 1.87m. 2cm taller than Darlow and 3cm shorter than Elliot.
-
Aye, but too casually. Can’t abide nonchalant goals...
-
gtf Imre, still doesn’t make it a good idea.

Bournemouth next Matt. Keep it going man

Diame and Shelvey were clearly the better midfield pairing. Hope they’re both glowing with deserved pride long into the night.
