  1. If you don't think we can sign someone younger, who offers what he offers off the ball but has actual technical quality then I'm not sure what to say. Minteh should be that player coming on at 60 minutes. He's in higher percentiles than Almiron is everything other than interceptions and is 11 years younger. That patch is soon to be 2 seasons ago. You can't hold onto an attacker who doesn't contribute much in terms of G&A because they did uncharacteristically contribute in one spell two seasons ago.
  2. It hasn't been great for his entire time at the club barring a purple patch in October 2022 which has been proven to be exactly that. And 6 assists in 5 and a half years, man. He's going to turn 31 next season and isn't good enough. Runs his bollocks off every week but has extremely little technical quality. That's nowhere near enough for a club that wants to be consistently in Europe.
  3. Don't want us to sell him and 100% agree with moving on Almiron first. Jacob Murphy got 1 more assist just last season (7) than Almiron has in his entire Newcastle career (6). Don't think we'll get Olise. Think Pedro Neto misses too many games. I've mentioned I really want us to go for Nico Williams but getting players out of Bilbao will be tough, even with his release clause. Regardless, our LW options being Gordon, Barnes, Joelinton and maybe Anderson and the RW options being a new big money signing, Minteh and Murphy would be class. Fully agree. He can be a bit of a passenger at times but he's still probably the best crosser of the ball at the club.
  4. Hope we sign Gibbs-White.
  5. Hope the numbers and names on the back are in black again, especially given the back of the shirt.
  6. 'Best bits from 2023/24', first clip is then from 2021-22. Nice to see that goal again, mind.
  7. I think we were only ever after Ederson if Joelinton didn't renew his contract. Shame like, he looked outstanding in that Europa League final.
  8. Nico. Please. I beg. @Edward Howe
  9. State of this proper yer fatha gear. Will look class on Darren, Stevie, John and Billy in the social club after a nephew's christening. Isak looks like he's being held against his will.
  10. That dull club, city, ground and fans back. A 3rd south coast away trip. Sunak happy. Ugh. At least the enmity with Leeds and Elland Road has a bit of character. /YerDa
  11. "The root cause for this delusion around expectations is a lack of knowledge of football outside of NUFC" Astounding arrogance.
  12. Don't even think that was a foul from Summerville tbh.
  13. Give it until half time until some absolute rectangle on Twitter suggests us resigning Armstrong to be second fiddle to Isak.
  14. I agree, but I feel deflated and why I really wanted us to get Conference League was to get the club; Howe, squad and fans, used to playing 3 games a week regularly, which all the elites do. A super negative part of me thinks, what if we finish top 4 next season and 2025-26 is a carbon copy of this due to the remaining lack of familiarity of playing 3 games a week at a high level? When the dust settles I'll feel better, but we absolutely have to keep our big 3, Bruno, Isak and Gordon and add sufficiently to them. Them 3 plus a quality RW and Tonali back is exciting to think about.
  15. Ludicrous take. But I do think Howe is under pressure next season to deliver European football. A club whose owners claim to be wanting to take the club to regularly challenge the elites wouldn't be happy with 2 consecutive seasons without European football you'd think. Any of those clubs we want to be challenging wouldn't be.
  16. The display at Stamford Bridge as well.
  17. I'll be off the High Level Bridge if/when that gets triggered.
  18. Not sure we can blame Bruce for this one; he got back into the team in that unreal run we went on post January in 2021-22 and still featured pre October 2022 last season. Just fell out with Howe with whatever reason. Got himself to blame.
  19. It's the general principle of it; flying to the other side of the world immediately after the regular season had ended to 'raise the profile of the club' or whatever justification was given to play to pointless friendlies that most don't care about. One of which we put a team of kids out in to lose 8-0 to avoid injuries. Some profile raising, that. At least we got rid of those injury magnetic FA Cup replays, though.
  20. What an absolute waste of time this has been.
  21. VCF is negotiating with @NUFC a transfer of Mamardashvili, which will be around €40M and is considering signing Juan Soriano on a free transfer to complete the goal @GolsmediaCVal
