I don’t think you’re seeing my overriding point. It isn’t just about Wilson; we’ve been poor at letting players go at the right times where Wilson alongside others were given new contracts instead of being sold. He scored 18 PL goals in 22-23 at 30, we could’ve gotten a decent fee for that and given his injury record it was within our interest then to move him on and get an understudy to Isak. Almiron was the same, should’ve been sold at the end of a season everyone knew he wouldn’t replicate in terms of numbers when we could’ve got a decent fee but he was given a new contract before proceeding to contribute nothing and we then lost him for nothing. Trippier too, should probably have been let go when Bayern came in for him. We’ve instead lost him for nowt, and there’s now a good chance we have to sign 4 full backs in the summer. I’ve the same opinion with Joelinton, think he should’ve been let go in summer 2024 but was instead given a new contract on apparently more money than Isak. Its poor player trading/squad management.

Keeping him around in any capacity would’ve been the wrong decision. He should’ve been sold in summer 2023 when we could’ve got a decent fee for him, came off the back of his best goalscoring return and had an injury free preseason. Same with Almiron. Instead he was kept around on a new contract, contributed next to nothing bar a handful of goals against poor sides in 2023-24 and we lost him for nowt.

After spending a period of the close season trying to keep Callum Wilson around for another year despite looking absolutely finished last season. (in before a #bantz jibe about that being better than what we have). The lack of proactivity with outgoings and holding onto players for too long is the main blotch on our transfers under Howe for me. This summer the full back situation where we could potentially need to sign 4 full backs should Tino leave is an example of this.

Liverpool fans there

Grown men doing that gimpy celebration. A heinous cult, that football club. Would give up my salary to beat them in incredibly controversial circumstances in 2 weeks.
-
That 1-1 draw last season was horrid. Think we had 1 attempt all game and it wasn't even on target.
-
*large inhale* BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
The way Rooney delivers ‘…see who fucking wins’ sums up how I’m feeling about the way football is going atm. Still screaming my head off at Toon matches but personally more interested in finding the best pints of Guinness these days.

Not a fan of Hopkinson so far. Already out of touch with fans with a ticket price hike despite celebrating 'record profits yeehaw'. The competing for top honours by 2030 quote is also seemingly another gaffe. Don't think the sentiments of what he's said regarding Howe are incorrect given the shitshow of a league season but it isn't exactly wise to put it out in public. Fuck CEOs basically. Can't remember the last one we had as a football club that wasn't a grade A rectangle or ming.
-
Record profits yet still put the ticket prices up again. Get to fuck.
-
In amazement that these were/are real.
-
The whole discourse with Howe easily gets tiresome as it’s the same debate with the same points being brought up, rightly or wrongly, from both sides. The truth amongst it all in addition to external factors imo is somewhere in the middle. It almost always is. I’ve made my peace with that.

I think the biggest part of this for me is I don't enjoy the football anywhere near as much as I did even 2 seasons ago. In 23-24 we were at least superb at home but I actually think the issue is wider than that. Modern football is fucking shite. The treatment of fans with rising ticket prices, stupid kick off times and draconian ticketing measures with IDing, having to bend over backwards to pass your ticket on for 1 match if your club allows it et al, the sheer amount of games there are, the social media circle whose modus operandi is ragebaiting for interactions, the overall quality of football that gets played in the PL, the general decline in the quality of atmosphere at matches, the elitism that PSR/SCR/whatever the fuck these shit fucking rules are perpetuates amongst countless other things. So you've got that and us being fucking lifting this season for a variety of reasons on top of that. So aye. End the season please.

This season in the league; with Schar starting: W7 D3 L2 without Schar starting: W5 D3 L11;* *he came on at half time or before in three of those games, came on in the 29th minute at home to Fulham, half time at West Ham away and in the 42nd minute away at the mackems.

When you think about it, of course it is. But booing has always been the universal show of 'that was shite' from fans in British football. Same logic can be applied with shouting at a player or a referee that he's a cunt because of who he plays for or a decision being given. Or the Spanish waving white handkerchiefs about. Football is an inherently emotional game which is what makes it so great and so horrid. Expecting fans after watching Sunday's performance, in the context of the game given who it was against and their general record away from home this season, to not be emotional is as daft as it is sanctimonious imo.
-
Never booed but don’t blame those who did. Personally left as soon as their winner hit the net from headloss. Only the 2nd time I’ve ever left a game before FT since going to games as far as I can remember. Was personally disgusted at the performance then and still am.

I think it’s more that we’ve shown all season that we’re incapable of putting a good set of results and/or performances together in the league, especially the sort that’ll be required to finish in the European spots. We’ve been struggling to create chances all season, even before the fixture congestion back in August/September. Was the same paint by numbers football back then. Seen nothing to suggest that’ll change; on top of that the 3 home fixtures left are fixtures that Howe was won 3 times out of the last 10. It isn’t over like but I see why people feel that way.

They move the ball forward about 60-70 yards without a single black and white shirt less than 2 yards near their 3 players involved in the move prior to the cut back. It’s fucking lifting stuff.
-
Pffft, as if Benitez would ever come here. Just been managing Real Madrid, no way he comes here especially given we’re 19th. - Many on here presumably, circa March 2016.
-
All of these games were back in August or September. I’d wager he’s started 95% plus of the games in 2026 where we are regularly shipping at least twice a game. It’s not solely Burn’s fault, there’s 3 other defenders and a goalkeeper and he doesn’t pick himself.

It is correct in a back 4. We played a back 5 at Bournemouth.
