They had no striker last summer and chose to go without for a season and wait for Haaland rather than sign Ronaldo because the figures didn't meet. Also what decent cover do they have now Zinchenko has gone to Arsenal? Cancelo will start at left back but behind that there's Ake/Laporte but they're primarily centre backs. They're in the market for a left back but they didn't value Cucurella at 50m. We're in the market for attacking players but maybe don't value Maddison at 60m.

Sources at the club are never going to leak to journos we have say 80m budget left right now, when they're trying to get the best possible deal for Maddison. Would be a terrible way to negotiate imagine Leicester seeing reports our budget is 80m and we won't budge from 40

Plenty more examples with City. See Ronaldo last summer.
-
The 'richest of the rich' Man City have just walked away from Cucurella because they don't think he's worth 50mil and wouldn't go above their bid of 40m. The two elite clubs in the country, City and Liverpool, both operate like this. If our recruitment don't value Maddison at 60m then so be it, us fans need to learn to accept that our owners will do this. Yet they are still taking us in absolutely the right direction.

The bed-wetting is sensational. Our owners have had one complete window so far, they strengthened us to 12 wins in 19 under Howe's guidance. Half way through this window (it only really starts in July) and we have Pope, Botman and Targett bedded in. There is no evidence at all they won't 'do enough'. Sit tight and see the state of play come 1st September. Roll on Friday so people have actual football to talk about!

Up for this? I can make one.

Leicester fan on an FPL forum I use, I asked him about outgoings: 'Saw reports that we’ve set a 7th Aug deadline on the big ones (Maddison to Newcastle or Spurs, Barnes to Newcastle, Fofana to Chelsea, Tielemans to Arsenal or Man U), to reduce the risk of panicking on late deal, time for replacements to gel, etc. Not sure if Kasper falls into that too, we’re clearly on the trail of replacements as we’re also now rumoured to be scouting Sanchez at Brighton, as well as Napoli, Benfica and Nantes keepers. Others that will be allowed to go include Vestergaard (Fulham and Brentford interested), Soyuncu (Inter Milan interest), Soumare (this might actually be an old report as he’s actually played most of preseason in the ‘stronger’ lineups, and we turned down a £15m bid from Monaco though that might be because we paid nearer to £25m just last summer), Iheanacho, Praet (Torino return?), Perez, Mendy and Bertrand.' When asked if Maddison leaving would be a disaster: 'Without a doubt. That’s why we’ve put £60m on him, and offered him a new contract to take him to joint top earner. But we’re struggling for money and meeting FFP. Plus there are plans to expand the stadium. By all accounts, Maddison is happy and hasn’t requested to leave, but we understand the frustration at being overlooked for England squads and in a World Cup season too… Dewsbury-Hall is a future lynchpin, very very gifted, but it’s too early for him to be given the responsibility. He’s developing well sitting next to Tielemans and behind Maddison. To lose both of those around him would decimate the midfield creativity, as the closest things to replacements we have for them are Soumare, who can’t cope with the pace of EPL, and Praet, who clearly isn’t thought well enough of. So Maddison going would be a disaster for us, especially as I don’t have the faith we’d use the money wisely this late. Fofana leaving would also be huge for us. We’ve always been a selling club, but I fear our luck in unearthing the next ones is starting to turn, much like Southampton in the 2010s - they had some talented squads but have slowly declined.'

https://www.forestforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/official-premier-league-matchday-thread-1-newcastle-vs-forest-6-8-22-1500h.50574/ Some crazy opinions in here like. They're so far detached from where we're at.
-
Will reach a point where an ultimatum is given - see Botman deal. If Leicester don't cave to that then so be it. The calibre of player we're in for I'm confident we'll get the attacking creativity in that we're after.
-
Maybe the signing of Luis Diaz scuppered it.
-
Refusing to get invested as it would be such a decent signing. Be a big statement of intent, Leicester are currently seen as being way ahead of us in their 'project' right now. For Maddison to leave that to come to us puts a marker down, be our biggest show of intent yet imo. A year ago we went to Leicester for Choudhury on loan and wouldn't pay the fee. Just bid 40m for Maddison and expected to go back in. Enjoy it!
-
Would be but if it meant Barnes coming i'd be for it. Plus a purchase of a right winger also.
-
Highly doubt we are signing Werner and I highly doubt we sign anyone that is linked via a German/French/Italian media outlet. Stinks of agent leaks. This thread could've had less than a page added since Ashworth came in, 'transfer rumours' at an absolute minimum.
-
The owners got the keys 9 months ago. Since then the squad has been trimmed by the following leaving; Woodman, Hayden, Hendrick, Clark and soon to be Gayle. With the following added; Targett, Burn, Wood, Trippier, Bruno, Pope, Botman. 9 months only and we have 5-6 weeks left of this window still. We're in good hands and heading in the right direction for the first time in 14 years, enjoy it.

Anything behind the paywall?
-
Salah and Haaland by far the highest owned premium picks - and will be highly captained first 5-6 gameweeks. Betting against the field going without those two.
-
Versatile as i believe he can play either side as well as central midfield? Maybe why we haven't pursued a centre mid in the market.
-
Mainz conceded less than Dortmund and Leipzig last season btw, and only 8 more than Bayern. Decent defensive side and we controlled that game - mistake for the goal and lack of sharpness in final third but Howe will be pleased with the pressing and intensity in my opinion.
-
Anderson looks decent, chin always up looking ahead of himself. First touch always tidy, I'd be tempted to keep him in the squad and give him some mins this season
-
Bruno man he's got a family
-
Joelinton looks even more of a monster than last season
-
For 22, Botman looks so composed when having to defend or with the ball. We could have a gem on our hands here.
-
Good intensity with the pressing opening stages.
