Do they have the fanbase to sell 62k every game? Obviously, they might well do if they started challenging towards the top end of the league, but if they remained similar to what they are now? I suppose they probably do. Most established PL teams do nowadays. West Ham don’t have much bother filling their stadium (although often not for the full 90…) but that is London.

That Toloi red for Atalanta was utterly sensational. One of the best head losses I’ve seen.

My issue wouldn’t be so much the loss of value, although that’s hardly ideal, it’s more that you put yourself in a constant state of flux if you’re repeatedly having to replace players. Our recruitment has been great overall, and maybe we could just replace someone like that the next season fairly seamlessly. But it’s putting even more pressure on to hardly ever make a mistake in the market. Plus I don’t think Eddie’s management style aligns with that. He wants to work with a player continuously and improve them season on season. You can still tell how gutted he is about Anderson every time he speaks about him.

Maybe, but it seems he chose Bournemouth because they agreed to a release clause. That’s a fair enough approach if you’re Bournemouth, but for where we want to be, we can’t be doing that* *unless the release clause is massive, like Bruno’s was

It’s probably unnecessary to be giving efl clubs tickets, but if they’re getting 12 each and there’s 72 of them, that’d be another 432 for each club in the final. Obviously better than nowt, but it wouldn’t really make much of a dent in the demand. Not that this is going to make anyone without a ticket feel better, but my mate knows a pro referee (not Oliver) and has managed to source a ticket off him as all refs are given four tickets for the final.

Not required given Osula will be a clone of Nunez in a season or two.

It’s maybe hard to tell when it’s empty? A lot has been made of the steep-sided stands so it feels like the crowd are on top of the players, so might seem different when you are there, or even just seeing it full on TV. Or it might be shite.

Best of luck with that. Liverpool will likely win the league then spend £200m+ Arsenal will surely buy a proper elite striker (unfortunately one inferior to Isak but hey ho) As well as Man City and Chelsea continuing to chuck millions and billions at it. That’s before considering Man Utd and/or Spurs might stop being shite (alright that’s an iffy one). To finish above ALL of them would bordering on the impossible.

To Burnley. On penalties. After Trafford saves 5 out of 5.

Unless they’ve tarted it up in recent times (that is a possibility tbf) it was just a slightly poorer version of the Platinum Club.

Does he count as home grown for PL purposes?

Probably, but given the technology seemingly widely available, it shouldn’t really be so piss easy to pass a ticket on. Just forwarding the email being the ‘workaround’ is ridiculous.

Playing devils advocate - the biggest complaint against Ashley was that he never allowed the club to strive to be the best it could be. You can see how that accusation could be levelled at Levy. It’s all relative, but you can at least see the argument.

‘Deserve’ might be a bit of an emotive word admittedly. If they’re still there at the end of the season, you can hardly say they don’t ’deserve’ it. But I don’t think any of us would say they are one of the best five teams in the league if we were asked.

Statistically speaking, he’s right. They’ve won a lot of games where they’ve faced a lot more shots, lost the xG etc etc. Now you can say that’s partly down to their style of play, and I think the manager deserves a ton of credit for making them as effective as they have been. But it’s very difficult to maintain the level of success they have had, whilst playing like this. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to do it across an entire season, to an extent we did it under Pardew, for example. But if they want to continually be up in the top 5, they’d have to evolve and play, at least a slightly, different style. Don’t think they’re in any way comparable to Bournemouth, who tend to ‘deserve’ to win the games they do, statistically speaking.
