Sitting back on a lead. Must be the managers fault. Doesn’t know what he’s doing…
-
Can’t see him playing on. That was nasty.
-
Should be 3-0 Barca. Atleti just constantly giving ball away in their own third. Madness.
-
2-0 Barca. Great finish by Torres. Another Atleti mistake like.
-
Atleti-Barca is open as fuck.
-
Terrible mistake from Atleti
-
Atleti full back responds by hoofing him
-
Yamal’s just skinned half the Atleti team and almost scored in the first 30 seconds
-
Quitting on the players. They should respond by downing tools in their next match.
-
With one year left on his contract it wants to be a canny bit below £40m!
-
I’d very much doubt it.

Games like last night reminded me how shit it is being around relegation when it comes to other teams games. When you’re up the top you probably expect the teams you’re competing against to win the majority of their games, because that’s what teams up the top do. So when that happens, you just shrug and move on. It’s the opposite down the bottom, you’re expecting them to lose, or at least not win, most of their games. So when they do win one, especially one like last night where you’d have definitely marked down as a loss, it’s a proper gut-punch.

Wages will interesting. Apparently (and somewhat ironically) Harry Winks is the highest paid player in the Champ on £90k. Obviously we don’t know who’s got what in terms of clauses for a wage cut in the event of relegation, but it feels implausible to be having many players on £100k+ in that league, even if it is only for one season.

Decent outcome for him. Still makes the WC, but can partially duck out of the responsibility of any relegation. Will likely move on to Atletico or somewhere if they go down.
-
Aye, but do you think he would have coughed up for any fine the EFL tried to impose on him? Of course not. If you could somehow get government onboard so there was actually personal repercussions for not paying any fine, then you might have a chance, otherwise they’re probably just as likely to start asset stripping the club.
-
I’m not sure that’s particularly realistic without government intervention (i.e Abramovich and Chelsea).
-
What would be an alternative punishment that is enough of a deterrent to stop clubs breaking the rules?

It’s quite ironic really, but if you ask the question are Spurs going down the answer you get is: Spurs fan - yes, we’re fucked non-Spurs fan - nah, they’ll manage to stay up

There’s most probably some validity in what you say, but as a fanbase, you’ve got to move away from this. If it starts becoming a narrative that somehow referees have got it in for Spurs, and you’re not getting a fair shake, that will seep through to the players and the manager, and you start giving them a bit of an excuse. “I know we were shit, but…” I still think the fact that we got absolutely jipped by Howard Webb in our penultimate game against Fulham in 08/09 played into putting in such a listless performance in the final game against Villa. We were feeling sorry for ourselves. You can’t let that happen.

Big chance for him today. He really needs to at least look like a capable central striker, which basically hasn’t happened in any of his PL starts. We’ve seen what he’s capable of as a sub (albeit often from wide), time to do that from the start.
