Aye, in an ideal world you’re probably right. Although the question will be whether we need them to initially boost us to the point we can legitimately attract non-PIF sponsorship at a level that allows us to challenge the elite.

Wonder if the strategy is to get a non-PIF sponsor onboard now, paying an improved, but not groundbreaking rate, then in 3-5 years time, go back to a PIF-related company, who do pay a groundbreaking amount, but with less chance of it being challenged on FMV as it’s less of an uplift on what we get now?

Not really, although they’re essentially just a news aggregator, so depends where they’ve actually sourced that from, assuming they haven’t just entirely made it up.

Why would he do that? If anything he seems to favour Hall? And Gordon has done as much, if not more, than many of his challengers for a position in the attacking positions (Rashford, Foden, Bowen, Saka, Palmer etc).
