  1. Suppose we'll see this season whether last season was due to the novelty of new grounds, or whether the fact we have a popular/competent manager creating a general 'feelgood factor' amongst the support has anything to do with it.
  2. It's going to be bad enough for season ticket holders without a 100 points this season like. Already dreading the fight for Spurs away tickets. I don't think it'll be quite that bad. We've got less tickets for Huddersfield than what we'll get at most grounds and that's likely to end up going down to somewhere between 75 - 50. Can't see people falling over themselves to get to the likes of Stoke and West Brom. Agree there'll be no end of twisting and moaning when it comes to Spurs though. The Twitter arguments are painful whenever a sougjt after game comes around. People who've never been away crying over not getting tickets but unable to propose a system that would be any fairer. That's probably because there isn't one. Every system has pluses and minuses, so there isn't one that is definitively 'fair'. I'd probably say that ours is about as fair as it gets, yet at the same time I understand the argument from youngsters starting out that it's harder for them now than it has been for others in the past. But that's just the luck of the draw in that they're starting out when people actually want to watch us again.

  4. I'd imagine the only way you'll be able to get tickets in the away end is via Newcastle, and you'll have to be a member to do that. You might actually be better off getting someone off here to get them for you. I might be able to help actually, so give me a PM if you want me to try and sort something out.
  5. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-january-transfer-window-12147905 It is a sad fact of recruitment that many of the best-laid plans never come to fruition. Had Newcastle stayed in the Premier League this summer they were lining up a move for Islam Slimani, the Sporting striker who eventually moved to Leicester in a deal worth an estimated £28million.
  6. The leagues and TV companies, who claim to have "the best interest of match going away fans at heart", have had our two trips to Brighton on a Tuesday night and 4:30 on a Sunday. Was planning on ticking Brighton off the list finally this season but that is a pisser of a time even when making a weekend of it. Surely 5:30 Saturday should be enforced for that kind of distance if they insist they want to show it. Problem with that is that BT have got the 5:30 slot. And there's some kind of pecking order on who gets first dibs for what slot. So if Sky want a fixture it's essentially either Sunday/Monday or 12:30 or a Sat (which is arguably even worse when you're doing a trek like Brighton).
  7. Look at the first word of the thread title Look at the context in which he made the post.
  8. Depends on your definition of "exciting"? Premiership quality players. Not Jacob Murphys. 6 or 7 might be pushing it. 4 or 5 I would expect given your criteria.

  10. Unfortunately the costs associated with staying in the PL for those 4 seasons, means it isn't quite that simple....
  11. Probably not as much as he loves a pound note.
  12. Be between 4-6 weeks before I would guess.

    St James' Park

What are we supposed to do in a year? We can't reconfigure the stadium.
  14. What I mean is that if we should loan a player (I realise it's a good option moneywise to loan) I think we must have the option to buy. Say that Abraham becomes a big success and than we dont have a chance of signing him next season. Then we are back to squere one needing to find a new striker next season. Quite possibly, but we'll likely have additional funds to allocate towards that striker, and with a decent season behind could be a more attractive proposition.

  16. 8 assists in 80 goals That's not telling the full story, he's often starting the moves that opens the play up that leads to goals, assisting the assiters if you will. I'm not sure why he's getting so much stick on here really, honestly people have short memories of how bad we were when he was suspended. Shelvey was critical to our promotion, to many on here try to belittle his role for some strange reason. 100%. There were plenty of our goals this season that he didn't get an "assist" for that he was hugely instrumental in. Off the top of my head, Perez v Ipswich had a lot to do with his excellent long switch to Dummett and Perez v Barnsley had a lot to with his one-touch sweep out wide to Atsu(?).
  17. Discussing this just the other day. I'm in agreement with you that being at Wembley for a league won't be the same. I'm not even sure i'd be too keen on a semi-final there, although we'd have the numbers then (more so than a final probably) so i'd probably give in.
  18. By the rules of the Premier League they are only obliged to give us 3,000. Don't think it's been announced yet but I would hope they'll give more. Suppose it'll depend whether they're selling it out to 'home' fans. If they are then, it'll just be the 3k as you say. Might also depend if they're opening it up for 90k capacity every game?
  19. Going to be games all over the place over Xmas according to this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38497382

  21. Burnley spent about £20m (gross) last summer and another £18m in January and they've stayed up relatively comfortably. Not saying we only need to spend that, or that "staying up" should be the limit of our ambition, but it shows you don't need £100m+ to compete. Although if Ashley fancies allowing us to spend £100m+ (he won't/we won't), then happy days.
  22. Are they allowed to show it in the bars within the ground, so Nine, Terrace etc.? I'm going but i've got a couple of mates without tickets who'll come and watch it there if that's the case.
  23. They haven't won an away game since Jan 2nd. Only half-decent team they have beaten away from home is Norwich. 6-0
