  1. But what if we're using the money from any potential sale to fund the purchase of an incoming player? Yes, we shouldn't really be in that position, but let's assume we are. Do we not sell Mitro or someone else to rival for fear of that player improving them, and therefore miss out on the player we want? In an ideal world you sell to a foreign team, but this is a Mike Ashley world.....
  2. Quite possibly, although Dummett was out for a fairly lengthy period at that point.
  3. They did, with 23% and 26% possession respectively. That'll undoubtedly be the way we go, let them have the ball, sit deep and hope to hit them on the break. If we're to have any success playing like that though, we'll have to use what little of the ball we do have a lot better than we did against them at home.

For someone that apparently no-one was in the slightest bit bothered about whether we signed or not, there's seems to be a disproportionate amount of fume about this latest development.
  5. Tbf we haven’t been able to get the ball near the oppositions six yard box very often.
  6. Given the date shift, I would say it’s more than likely.

    That De Jong header :fool:
  8. Chelsea have got 5 games before this compared to our 2. The second leg of the League Cup semi against Arsenal is the Wed before. They might well play a 'weakened' team. If this was at home I'd give us a good chance. Unfortunately it's not at home.
  9. Spurs away would be good. Give us a chance to get used to the pitch for the later rounds.
  10. Usually about about two weeks to a week before the game, give or take, although generally they seem to have been a bit earlier most of the time this season. If you're waiting on Man City tickets I'd expect them some time this week probably. Ordered my Man City ticket before Christmas, was just fretting a tad as you never know with our box office. Aye, with away tickets they generally don't send them out until they've sold them all (or least the majority of them). They must have some kind of process to go through to make sure all travel groups are sat together. If it hasn't turned up by the end of the week I'd give them a call.

  12. When it comes to rafa "not trusting" Mitro, it's not simply a case of him being worried he might do something stupid and get sent off. It's more likely than Mitro just doesn't do as instructed in terms of positional play or decisions on the ball. Whether Deeney is a better option in this regard I don't really know (although you'd suspect he probably is), but the fact is the primary reason Mitro doesn't get picked isn't because he's perceived as a red-card risk.
  13. Insignificant compared to legend like Abdoulaye Faye. This bloke also reckoned that that when some manager left them to join us in the 30's, the Stoke players were so angry they smashed up the club offices. I think he might have been James Milner's grandad.
  14. Went today. First time at Stoke. Not the worst in the new generation of identikit, flat-pack stadiums. But still, meh. There was some old guy interviewed in the dugout before the game (presumably the club historian/statistician) running through various stats before being asked about players that had played for both teams - mentions Joselu, Owen blah blah before saying his personal favourite, and "Stoke City legend" was Abdoulaye Faye! That was followed by a montage to all the deceased Stoke fans from the last year, who each had a photo up on the big screen (and there were lots of them) whilst Bridge Over Troubled Water was piped out. Obviously a nice touch for any family present, but christ talk about an atmosphere killer! Then just to make sure they did exactly the same at half time. Anyway, great result.
  15. We beat them 3-0 at home man. Granted they've picked up and we've fell off since then, but whilst they're rightly favourites it's hardly like predicting a win at Man City.
  16. Only at CB, CM up top or at full back. I wouldn't be ruling out in goal....
  17. From memory there's plenty of parking at Stockport station and only about 10 - 15 mins on the train. Easy to get to off the motorway as well. Altrincham station also a good shout and jump straight on the tram to the ground Cheers for the early suggestions. Might be plenty of parking at Stockport as it appears to cost £15.50 to park for over 4 hours. Think I will give that a miss. I think if you pre-book with one of the parking websites it's much cheaper? Could be wrong like. doesnt seem to be There was another smaller car park near the NCP that I accidentally ended up in last time I was there. Not sure what that's like? Altrincham might be better bet.

  20. Only time we've lost by more than 2 was at Oxford in the Cup.
  21. As .com point out, Stoke aren't selected at all in December, so they'll be due a game. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see that get moved to a non-3pm ko on NYD or an evening ko on the 2nd.
  22. Shows the pulling power of the Sunday 4pm ko and why they wanted it for Xmas Eve.
  23. Yet it’s still not sold out and is down to 40 points. Even though I managed to get a ticket through Crumpy I’m still tempted to pick up one myself if it goes to 0 points to sell it on (face value) and pick up the loyalty point. Everyone who seems to want to go seem to be people with no loyalty points. Doubt it'll go to zero given they're only doing 10 point drops currently. Probably get down to about 20-25.
  24. I'm sure a season ticket holder on here will be able to help sort you some out before they go on general sale. In fact I probably can. Drop me a PM closer to the time. You might want to keep an eye out on the TV fixtures though. They haven't announced the December games yet, so those two could yet get moved. Supposedly they're getting announced next Thursday.
