We have great partnerships all over the pitch. Perez/Gayle. Shelvey/Diame. Dummett/Kenedy. Yedlin/Ritchie. Lascelles/Lejeune. No individuals in the team at all, everyone has a partner they can rely on and it seems to spread confidence & calm throughout the side. Rafa really deserves all the plaudits he will righty be getting now, what a manager. What a side.

Am I allowed to say I love the lad now, Twinport? -
It really doesn't. It's just an opinion on one aspect of the playing side. The man has worked miracles under this cunt of an owner, regardless of this. Yes, but maybe the reason Mitrovic had to go out on loan is because Rafa knew he needed quick results and to get a team playing a certain style of football with some immediacy. Had Rafa persevered with Mitrovic in spite of this, it could have been very damaging. Therefore it is hard to see it as an error, more as a cog in his great achievements with us this season.
-
Rafa has done his job and kept us up by devising & carrying out a plan with what he had (and thought he could get - Kenedy, Dubravka) at his disposal. Because he loaned out Mitrovic, a striker clearly better than Gayle & Joselu, does not mean it's an error on his part. He has simply done his job and kept us in the league by whatever means necessary. Maybe Mitrovic could work under Rafa, maybe he can't, but all is for certain it would have taken time to get them both singing to the same tune, and time we did not have. I'm a massive Mitrovic fan and pray he can score goals in a Newcastle shirt, but saying Rafa has got it wrong with him is unfair imo and seems to undervalue the enormous achievement of Benitez this season.

He would be very worthy of us breaking our transfer record to sign him. Much more so than Troy Deeney would have been. (thank fuck that didn't happen)

I can't help but love Mick

I hope Liverpool or Roma win it myself.

Not good enough from City this second half like. Have looked defensively all over the place.
-
The Discman on scouting duties. Hope you're wearing the badge loud & proud.

Did I imagine it or did he still get it wrong when correcting himself? The only thing that really matters after Karius punches it is who touches it: Milner or Jesus? It was Milner so it was onside. It's as simple as that Yeah got that now Was talking about Chris Foy having a mare in commentary there though

There we have it, the goal stood have should.
-
He’s offside if it comes off the Man C player and not Milner. Sane looked level to me? Might be looking at the wrong phase of play like... There's only one opposition player between Sane and the goal. If it was Jesus who played it Sane would be offside because the keeper isn't between Sane and the goal

Instinct wants to say he's being a little bitch but then we do say refs should be more diligent with players and staff being aggressive toward them. True, but for me he's possibly in the wrong match (given the stakes) if he can't take a manager approaching him (obviously emotionally-charged) questioning a wrong decision without resorting to sending him off.
-
Doesn't really matter whether it came off Milner or not, Sane is onside.
-
Guardiola sent to the stands. Justified or power tripping from the ref? He only approached him to question a wrong decision.
-
Love Bernardo Silva like. Absolutely class player.

Feels like Liverpool are hanging on for dear life despite being 3-1 up. They need to be more positive where they can, 1 goal from them might enough. At this rate it looks a matter of time for City.
-
I would have agreed with that a year ago, but this season he has proven to be capable on the ball, often playing good, positive passes into Perez/Gayle/Kenedy as well as delivering good crosses in the box.
-
If he doesn't go it's a mistake on Southgate's part, I'm certain of that. I think I'd be more keen to see Shelvey play in the World Cup than Jamaal - who may be a bit exposed and I'd be nervous for him making a telling error (not that I think he couldn't handle it, his mentality is great - and also not that I particularly care how well England do). I'm also glad it's okay to love Shelvey now, I got all sorts of stick at one point for championing him earlier in the season.

Aye you're right. I got it mixed up as he also scored when we beat spurs away wearing that same green/blue kit. Sammy Ameobi on the left in both games I believe -
