Fuck me man, watching this BBC coverage of the scouse match. There's a pure mouth-breather in the commentary box. I feel like I'm watching bloody 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I don't know why but I really want him to f*** up and score an own goal or something For some unknown reason, I know what you mean and somewhat agree.

Van Dijk straight in for Liverpool. Interested to see how he does.

Should all be offered accommodation for the night, if not by the travel service then by one of the clubs, who have more than enough money to help out the travelling support. Surely theres a breach of some kind of right/law/protocol here?

Seems like a very blunt tweet. No well wishes or anything. Sly that imo, hope Liverpool smack them tonight. He's been engineering a move for some time hasn't he? I imagine the relationship is somewhat strained. It seems that way, but I guess at the same time he hasn't been getting played for over a year has he? I just like the respectable good luck & thanks for your services tweet or press release when a player leaves a club, regardless of circumstances. Especially when Barkley helped elevate Everton to greater heights a few years ago.

Cultured finish, imo. In fact I think it's the best goal of all time, if Bergkamp had have scored it, whoosh, would be sold on dvd for years to come. -
No cash turnstyles but they box office will be open in the morning. According to Northumbria Police as of lunchtime 45,000 had been sold. Really impressive, must be one of the busiest cup games in years? Usually only about 30k go iirc... Aye, I mentioned this earlier. Disco reckons... Southampton in 2006. What Disco says goes imo... I believe.

You don't know though really do you? You're choosing a positive assumption in favour of Deeney, and a negative assumption to the detriment of Mitrovic. Unless you have evidence that Deeney's ill-discipline is due to frustration alone, and Mitrovic's is simply down to malice, then I would suggest it is you who is in fact a silly boy. -

Dramatically written. You struck fear into me with that, you should be employed by the Daily Mail. Aye. Even without new players it'll be a very close thing, Rafa is good enough to drag us through it imo and I imagine this is what Ashley thinks as well. As I say though, could still see it being close. Agreed. We definitely could do with at least 3 new players in, but should we get none, I wouldn't be writing us off just yet. Not a better manager I know of who could get a side of average players overachieving than Benitez. nothing to suggest he can't replicate a point a game in the remaining 16 that would possibly be enough to keep us up. I'd actually argue we might be in a better position than others around us because Rafa has clearly been protecting a number of players and rotating heavily which might benefit us later in the season. He knows. Yeah, I'd also argue that our team mentality/spirit has thus far not reflected that of a loosing/struggling side - despite the winless streak we went on. A positive, never-say-die team spirit can and has been the difference between relegation and survival, even when the squad may be short of quality in comparison with the teams in and around. I put that down to Benitez alone and his choice of players such as Ritchie, Perez, Lascelles, who whilst they have their technical/physical downsides, just never stop trying. -

Deeney's ill discipline this season looks more like being due to frustration due to not being used as much anymore. I mean he was the captain of this team and came up with them, and so I can see how he would be feeling that way. Mitrovic is just a loose cannon that does dumb stuff regardless of his situation or circumstance. Big difference. This sentence could just as easy be applicable to Mitrovic, tbf Not saying it's his excuse, but if you're willing to justify Deeney's discipline with said statement, then you have to be willing to apply that to Mitrovic too. -

Again, I'm not claiming to know that much about Deeney, but if he isn't mobile enough to chase loose balls down for 90 minutes, then I'm really doubtful of how successful he would be in our current setup. Gray is shite aye, dire at St James Park despite his sides domination. If Deeney can't displace him I wouldn't take it as a promising sign at all. -

That's what worries me about him. But the lads above seem to think otherwise about him. -

You for real? Deeney is all about graft. Always happy to be corrected in my football opinions my friend. Deeney never struck me as the grafting type in a Rafa sense, but more just in a physical lump sense. If you're saying otherwise, however, I will have to reconsider my views. Thank you -

Not convinced by Deeney myself. Not great that he can't even dislodge a poor Andre Gray at Watford. Would rather see Perez given a proper go unless we can get a blatant upgrade. Deeney isn't that, in my mind. I may be wrong though. Also under Rafa do I see Deeney doing any more work from the front than Mitrovic would? Not really. He's a bit of a lump.
