  1. Shelvey this weeks villain I see He's quite blatantly better than pretty much all the players mentioned in the past few posts. Certain areas of his game are near enough second to none, why do Newcastle fans self-sabotage so much? He's not perfect, obviously, but he doesn't need to be ffs, we're a lower to mid-table (at best) Premier League club at present, we should be appreciating decent players like Shelvey not holding weird grudges against them.
  2. Yep, in the two games versus Arsenal & City, he has genuinely looked like he could be playing for the opposition. A classy player and a pleasure to watch. Hope he's here for years.
  3. I agree with Alan here, absolutely pointless from Gayle. Idiotic in fact. Needs to improve a lot & show us something else going forward as that was embarrassing. Looked a pen where I was sat - do replays show it was a dive then? Odd he should dive as he was through on goal Other than that I think he did ok when he came on - I thought his header was in - must have been close. It was a blatant dive. And the fact he was standing there thinking about diving instead of doing what he is paid for and having a shot is embarrassing.
  4. Nowt Elliot could have done more tonight. Not sure why anyone would even think to criticise him. Name any keeper and put him in goal and we probably still lose 0-1. Deserves a break, does Elliot.

  6. His save in the first half was sheer brilliance. Reminded me of the type of reflex saves Shay Given used to make on the regular. Very well done, Rob.
  7. Thing is, when you take into account the circumstances, he wasn't gash at the beginning, he was putting in the exact performances you expect from a player finding his feet in a new team & a new league. Mix that with the added pressure of the whole Newcastle supporter narrative, then what we seen of him was nothing less than how a lot of youth players perform in their first few games. There was nothing to truly back up the fact he was going to be a bad player. And now we're saying the good performances the rational few predicted would be the case.
  8. Merino and Atsu were very good when they came on. Yeah Atsu done some good things too, think it was from his skill & cross that Gayle had his headed chance from. Man, if he left that for the on-rushing Merino we could have been celebrating a massive point here.
  9. Happy with that performance, I’ve watched a few City games this season and we were in the game far longer than any of the other sides I’ve seen. We could have even nicked it. Lascelles returning has evidently galvanised the group, and I though Mikky Merino looked brilliant after coming on. Our players will have their heads held high going into the Brighton match, and for me that’s a result in itself. HWTL!
  10. I like the team, I think there's clear signs of a game plan which is nice.
  11. MA considers £7.50 too much! Erm, don't you remember the £9.00 curry he had with Staveley the other week? Give him credit where it's due.
  12. Pep saying he hasn't watched us play. Brilliant, he won't know about Joselu's secret weapon of bumbling the ball into the back of the net, or Diame's unerring ability to sky shots into the roof of the net. We're gonna' crash their party, I just know it.
  13. Mitro doesn't do what Rafa tells him to do on the pitch. If he cared as much as he says, he would do anything to get on the pitch so I do think his passion is false to a certain extent, yes Fair enough, although in my opinion that's not a fair way to measure whether someone's passion is genuine or not. And also what you're saying isn't exactly factual and more speculation. Rafa might just prefer his other options and it may be more out of Mitrovic's hands than what you think. Don't think you can say for certain that Mitrovic's displays of passion are any less real than Lascelles'.
  14. So to be passionate you also have to be performing well, otherwise passion is worth nothing/or is falsified in your eyes? Seems a strange way to look at it.
  15. You don't like Jamaal either? I was thinking the same. Strange comment.
  16. Thing is there's nothing to say Slimani will be better than Mitrovic, we just have to hope his replacement hits the ground running for some reason.
  17. Goodnight, sweet prince. :'( In all honesty though, he will show quality wherever he goes imo and will eventually earn himself a move to a club far bigger than our own, just like Florian Thauvin will. Shame seeing these good players slip through our fingers, but sometimes the stars just don't align and it's not meant to be.
  18. He'll be their next manager when Britton gets the sack soon Swansea are making waves in the industry, join our club as a youth and within 5 years you'll be sitting at the top desk as manager. Isn't Britton only caretaker and says he doesn't want it ? Probably, it was tongue in cheek really, as they seem to go through their fair share

  20. A few seasons ago we played them at home in the league cup and were drawing 0-0 and they brought David Silva on and he completely changed the game. Even though he was only on the pitch for a short period of time it was one of the best individual opposition performances I can remember at SJP it's an idea for when we have a long break, FA cup 4th round weekend maybe, create a team consisting of the best individual performaces for and against. Yaya Toure's at St James' the season they finished top and we finished 5th was exceptional. No player in the world could have stopped him from doing whatever the f- he wanted to do that day. We played class as well as I remember, they were gliding to the title by that point though, too confident for us. ...but aye, will make for a good discussion at a later day

Even though he was only on the pitch for a short period of time it was one of the best individual opposition performances I can remember at SJP Yes, when I watch him play I often get the inclination that there's not a better player in this league than David Silva. He's somehow got even better with age. A joy to watch in the truest sense of the phrase. He's largely on a wavelength of his own; he dictates and pulls the strings over what is a superb group of players. Says it all really. The way he can find seemingly acres of space on the pitch is/will be a big problem for a team like ours. We deal in very fine margins, and he deals damage in large doses. We will need luck on our side if he plays.
  22. Sterling & D Silva are the ones I worry about most tbh. There's also a chance both of them will sit the game out, according to the City forums. This would increase our chances of a win by 0.003%. We're gonna' do it boys.
