You want to try the at what cost thread. Your stereotypical Football supporters have changed quite a bit. Unless it’s just on here? It IS just on here! Nowhere else is influenced by some of the weird comments that appear on that thread. Reading that thread convinces you that all the evils in the world have been (will be) caused by our Takeover. It is feeble, to put it mildly. It's funny you say that because most of the people I know in real life, including a woman I work with who's been going to matches since the mid '80s, are dead against the takeover or just as conflicted about it all. I don't think it's fair to judge the support overall because it's just as it's been for the entire time I've been supporting the club - split. You want to try the at what cost thread. I always find when I talk to people with views like yours (in real life) that NOTHING that I or anyone else says to them ever sinks in, but the same type of self-assured words come back at me, time and time and time again. I should not have responded, as I knew what I would get back. This is the end of our conversation. We didn't even start to have one in the first place and I'm not sure what I said to make you think any of that tbh, but suit yourself. kisearch, go fuck yourself.

I asked the very same thing months ago. The replies were very childish with no substance or evidence of their hatred towards him.

That’s not true though is it? Yes, it is true. Having spent time there with work (our company has since disinvested, some macro reasoning but also based on valuations), I have spoken to tens if not hundreds of people in their twenties and thirties in Riyadh who are open, global and good people who have studied outside Saudi and want to see and be part of it become a more open and tolerant society, while also being fiercely proud of their country and their religion. Saudi Arabia has a million miles to go to become close to being as progressive and advanced in certain areas as they could and should be if held to Western standards, but if you genuinely think they aren't moving forward in this regard when you look at generational trends, then you've not looked beyond headlines in the last few years. By way of a very obvious example, last time I was there several meetings with big banks and the regulator were led by females. Something this simple was inconceivable until fairly recently. Are they trying to use sports to improve their global standing and become more integrated in the western world? Absolutely. Does this make me feel uncomfortable when associated with my team? In some ways it does, in others I'm fairly accepting that this is cause and effect of broader society these days. Am I going to stop following / not attend games as a result? No, it means too much and it's been way too long since I've been able to truly enjoy watching Newcastle. If this comes off then it's mine and my dad's time to get to games and have some hope while he's still able. If it makes me a hypocrite so be it. It does get somewhat boring reading the standard left sided trope rolled out whenever it can be applied of Saudi (or US, or Israel) bad and evil without any balancing factors for the other sides involved in these proxy wars and nothing more than rudimentary understanding of the underlying centuries of religious and political discourse that have got the world to where it is. It becomes even more taxing watching it played out on a football forum. But such is life. Just a brilliant post.

? My wife and I were season ticket holders in the East Stand for 30 years until this season. I love the humour and understand what you are implying but we made some great mates in there. It's not that boring, honest (I once got warned/berated from a steward). Old school you see, hard as owt! ?
-
I actually feel the exact opposite. These morons received the season tickets FREE. They should be named and shamed or the season ticket holders/arseholes that "bought" them on their behalf should be named and shamed. I hate them for falling for the corrupt Ashley game he played. Mugs and idiots the lot of them! ?
-
Nice words and very true. How this corrupt regime has brainwashed a lot of fans into accepting zilch ambition is beyond me. With or without this takeover, this club is massive and let no one tell you otherwise.
-
Cans of Fosters on the Christmas dinner table. They are complete tramps man! Did you see the state they left Trafalgar Square, disgusting.
-
Have you heard you lot? Pep, Poch etc. Ashley OWNS us. Stop torturing yourselves.
-
Whatever!
-
Both Lovenkrands and Best led the line better than a certain 43 million pound player.
-
Although it's ostensibly about Joelinton, it's more a massive condemnation of our utterly shite tactics and dire football. And there is one man responsible for that. Steve Bruce!
-
Yes it is, Rafa Benitez does not manage Newcastle United anymore. No point twisting about it. Just twist about Bruce, Joelinton and Shelvey & Ritchie's new contracts instead - that's current. What are we allowed to twist/moan about in your world then?
-
I will never forget him.
-
There absolutely nowt wrong with VAR. In fact it's excellent. The people running it and controlling it is another matter.
-
I'm talking about Joelinton obviously.
-
No way is he a wide attacking player. He is definitely not a centre forward. It's simple really. Do not let him anywhere near the first team.
-
What on earth are you talking about? I can guarantee that you have never played football in your life!
-
Fuck off. I second that motion.

Joelinton doesn't get into those positions I had a lot of time for Gayle for that very reason, he is instinctively a goal scorer, but I don't think he's the player he was. Looks slower and not fully fit, and in truth, never does. I just don't have any faith in him any more, I think he's just winding down his career and picking up a nice wage. Tron, I love your football knowledge, I really do. I watched the full game and Gayle actually made those chances (that he missed). Those chances haven't been happening all season for one simple reason, JOELINTON. It is no coincidence that we looked so much better with a striker who knows what a striker is supposed to do. This is Gayles' probably 3rd start of the season and it's March. The Joelinton lovers have said give him more time. All I ask is give Gayle more game time and we will be fine. Keep Joelinton on the bench or at home (that's how I rate him as a striker).
-
You obviously haven't seen Joelinton play football. He would have been on the half way line. None of those chances would have occurred with him on the pitch. You are really being harsh on Gayle and giving no praise for the Southampton goalkeeper who was excellent.
-
Even this game would have taken its Tull. Loads of people if not most will not get that. Very good. Even though it's Jethro actually.

tbf his game has never been about clinical finishing. It's why theres always been downs above championship level. We look far far better with Gayle in the team. You are just frustrated that their goalkeeper was excellent. Gayle did not do a lot wrong today. At least he was in a position for the chances to be created. This has NEVER happened when Joelinton has led the line. Keep Joelinton on the bench and we may just be ok.

We are much better with Shelvey in the team. If fans can't see this then I'm staggered. I honestly think some on here hate him regardless of the performances he puts in. He is the best passer of a ball by far and controls the tempo. As for Danny Rose, I honestly can't believe how bad he is!
