He's an absolutely dreadful footballer. He's the sort of riff-raff they (mackems) should have been trying to sign from a minor league in the summer on the off-chance they could turn a profit or he might work out.
-
People were saying that last season when we were winning a cup and qualifying for the Champions League. Like sleeping with Cindy Crawford and Helena Christiansen but missing the thrill of having a wank with the risk of getting caught.

The mitigating circumstances of a bad window should be balanced out by the mitigating circumstances of a good window. If were a horrible watch, disorganised defensively and midtable because of a bad window then were we only good because of the good windows the preceded it? What I put on the manager is how shit we've played on the field for the vast majority of games from the start of the season, how frail we are defensively, how disorganised we are generally, how limp we are in attack, our season long desire to throw leads away and concede so readily after scoring - which have never looked like being resolved for more than a week. Thats on the manager because when he came in he managed to heavily organise us generally and have probably the best defensive unit we've had and the good football that was played irrespective of personnel that was signed for him or at his behest.

There's a lot of reasons to hate PSR for and not being able to just sack this c*nt uncerimoniously is another

Aaron Ramsdale: return to Southampton confirmed
Wolfcastle replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
Easy to say now but its Pope for me. Ramsdale hadn't done enough already to earn a move and the best that could ever be said is he's a change from Pope. If were employing the Eddie method at least Pope's done it for us before, there's fuck all the play for, let him see it out until the end of the season and get another keeper in pronto. -
With acoustics I always cite the promotion year under Keegan (the manager, was probably the same as a player) with a wide open Leazes and Gallowgate as being possibly the best year for atmosphere I experienced with the following season with an enclosed Leazes but wide open Gallowgate being the other contender. So if the people in the open stadium are inclined there's not a problem.

The idea of us stringing results and performances together after every win has been based on nothing. We've played like and got the results as proof and looked nothing other than a bang average midtable outfit all season
-
If were saying because we won a cup last year its okay to have played turgid football all season and go backward at a rate of knots this season, does that remain the case forever or is there a time limit on how far the gets you. In which case were only arguing about time. So what's the big deal. There's nobody better yet the staleness is palpable and this season in isolation has been unacceptable - in that a continuation of it and the decision will be made anyway and you couldnt blame them.
-
I'm afirad that's just the risks and rewards of being involved in passionate "big" derby's as opposed to Brighton versus Bournemouth and the risks and rewards of managing a big club as opposed Palace. No good getting upset about the downside now.
-
Another sorry but entirely suitable entry into what cup distractions aside has been a miserable season.
-
Some people think its related to 'acoustics' and the space above the East Stand letting the noise escape. Its 100% about the people that go.
-
Derby atmospheres are overrated for me. Its another reason why I never wanted them up or to play them Would only put them at the standard of a typical game post takeover and none I went to stood out to me as the best atmosphere's of any season. This wasn't on the level of Liverpool or Barcelona this. The games win lose or draw are almost uniformally dreck which doesn't help. Was a standard derby atmosphere for the circumstances.

Newcastle United vs. mackems: 22/3/26 @ 12:00 (Sky Sports)
Wolfcastle replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
Didn't happen after they beat us a few month back. If it happens now it'll be as much because losing again to these indicates a midtable season and will likely have produced another naff performance more than the one-off result. -
That's exactly what the Premier League and the middling clubs want.
-
They'll finish bottom

Probably go the way of 2013. Almost all of us in agreement we'd rather win the European game than beat them a few days later and will end up winning neither. -
in relation to an earlier arguement every one of those was embarrassing to the losing side was it not? Hardly anybody, I'm certainly not, is going after manager, players, club - just argueing embarrassment is a legitimate response Getting beat 6-2 off Man United was embarrassing under Sir Bobby, being embarrassed doesn't mean you want the manager, players and regime out.
-
Felt the same about that too and Leyton Orient (didn't even watch either). Find it a totally natural resposne. Its ultimately the same experience whoever its against. I didn't feel proud getting beat there under Dalglish or Sir Bobby, was glad of the occasion, and those games were more competitive. Don't see why our standards should be so low now relative to then. (Yes they weren't as good (did win the Spanish double though) then but neither were we.) For the record in no way am I having a go at manager or players, as with others, this is more about the response
-
Context doesn't change facts though. Its the old we beat Man United 5-0 but lost poorly at Leicester the next week versus we lost poorly at Leicester but beat Man United 5-0 last week. Fact remains one was great, one was poor. My own embarrassment is vindicted by the time honoured tradition of football fans, any fans being embarrassed at their team being battered as its one of, if not the, worst experience you can have as a fan and that its the natural response (as far as I knew until this season). Not to sit or stand there watching us run ragged and or get thrashed and compare it to Southend on New Years Day, the Ashley era or other teams results or your own past successes - you could do that with positive results and performance and take the gloss of them just as easily and be melancholic about any result and defacto not a fan by definition.
-
First I've ever heard of any football fan not being embarrassed watching their team getting stuffed by five goals encompassing a total collapse. Always just presumed we all felt that way and that it was completely natural and a well understood experience of being a football fan, its the way I've always about it before. Were not Bodo/Glimit (and even they cant be okay with getting slaughtered the other night), a bunch of youth team players all carrying injuries or some other pity case, little old Newcastle bless them. And we've had 'we did okay for 25minutes' stuff whilst getting hammered this season. We should be way beyond that. If we were ever there at all. Don't recall anybody doing anything but condemning Spurs for losing 5-2 last week.

Kieran Trippier: to join Wolves on a free (various)
Wolfcastle replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
He's been over the hill for a while but needs must. There's been many a game where despite being on the downward slide his nous has been steadying and necessary. -
The old group stages might be a bit dull for a peak Man City having to go through the motions of twatting Dinamo Zagreb, Sturm Graz and Politechnica Timosoara or whoever but we've always been right on the bubble of getting through or not so every game was important and practically a knockout. In every group there'll be games that a team has to win to stay in, you've already played six games in this format before you get to that point.
