  1. Me too. Was in the Mag I think in the summer of 95 which at least certainly pre-dated the mackems being known to sing it by half a season. At that time they'd just survived in the second tier and couldn't have known they'd do well that year. Remember the "Peter Reid's got a f**king monkey's heed" (still a favourite) being substituted to more saintly "Peter Reid's got a teletubbies heed" on occasion.
  2. Speaking of which.... That's 'doing a Ginola' to me. When he was saw himself on the screen at Spurs that time. Still my life goal to be in that place.
  3. Part of the problem is we've not had any players worthy of individual songs during the Ashley era and even those that were were ultimately futile because of their inevitable sales. Always remember Villa home in 93/94 when someone was down injured every player bar one (never remember who) got his own little ditty chanted as the player recieved treatment. Wouldn't know where to start now.
  4. Used to get in from school put ceefax (page302) & teletext (page140 iirc) on, read all the football stuff and try and freeze the clubcall headlines page/advert (went on and off quickly) to read to baloney headlines on that. Good to see the art of making up any old tosh for money are behind us and that i've grown out of obsessively looking for the latest transfer gen.
  5. Aye the knee bone's connected to the thigh bone. If we can't get the central-defender or forwards were after midfield is the next best thing. A good defensive minded one can cover a multitude of sins at the back. To say nothing of the fact that if everybody was fit (Fernandez/Wilson) it would be our weakest part of the field. Think its the worst I've ever seen.
  6. Thing for me is whilst logic suggests we'd come back up since we won that league that last three times we were in it, this is football and I'd far sooner not take the chance. It isn't a certain thing. Blackburn only scraped up by the skin of their teeth after throwing record sums of money at it and Derby did likewise and missed out.

Took 3posts on a completely unrelated topic for NUFC to pop up, saying there'd be a black and white meltdown if true. About what exactly?! Them being a feeder club? Are the f*cking nuts? I'd feel a bit sorry for them effectively losing their club for all intents and purposes but meltdown!? BTW does that ExileC*nt12 post about anything other than NUFC on twitter as well as RTG? Not on twitter but as far as I could scroll it was 100% NUFC. Don't answer it. Prefer to imagine people like that aren't out there. "Guardiola's interest in Johnson's coaching ideas,"
  8. He'll get some Sevilla stick off their fans
  9. Ginola was the last player I wanted to probe.
  10. Must have been offered a kings ransom in wages. If true, this unsettling of players bodes well going forward.

    Paul Dummett

Worth a crack at centre half and take our chances with Ritchie/Krafth at full-back to shift Lascelles. Though that's the club, just when we sort the full-back postions there's consideration to put one centre-half to plug that hole. There's just no putting a team out that doesn't contain dreck. Like shifting a picture around the wall trying to cover up all the stains left us as if in a Brucey flat which metaphorically we kinda are.
  12. I think it looks a shambles to some because were actually trying to do things for once and were out of practice with that experience. Failed to get Waddle and Shearer under Keegan in 92, nearly everybody was linked, but it was far from a shambles it was far more preferrable than scraping the cash together for Scott Sloan and Neil SImpson which was comparatively as smooth as trying to get Choudary on loan and nowt else.
  13. The time its taken to get this far with Carlos makes the rest of the window look look like not enough time already.
  14. Absolutely. Its proving very difficult to get our targets in before we p1ss away precious games with not good enough knackers but replacing said knackers with something better surely isn't. Sh1t or get off the pot ffs. Think with Carlos its already got to the point where even if we got him he'll prove not worth this hassle. Kitson esque.
  15. I'll be giving this one a miss, its not fun to make love to one's own widow
  16. Its getting to the point where were going to have to sh1t or get off the pot.
  17. I think being blinded by one moment instead of all the other ones is a bit more, if not moronic, simplistic and could be argued to be going with the exception not the rule in his overall performance today and generally. Hardly likely to see the downside of his game if that's all that's being looked at. To squander attacks, runs, positions by going into business for yourself would get your f**king arse kicked by lots of managers. Those of us that have played probably still feel echoes of that pressure to at minor levels, especially if trying to make it. Far from moronic like. Far better players than ASM have been sacrified for the greater good of the overall team regardless of how likely they were as opposed to their team-mates to create something.
  18. Didn't do much, didn't do much wrong / didn't do much, didn't do much wrong. He's the type absolutely reliant on chances and supply so we give him none. Hard to judge but pretty much what was expected other than from some good crosses - its a bolt shot
  19. Went into Watford with little hope for a win. Will go into Leeds with none and see how it goes but can only really see a draw at best. Were not finishing above anybody other than Burnley and Norwich unless some serious business gets done quickly and that's the only hope alas we fetched up with Wood so is it hope at all?
  20. Aye been really impressed considering the drop of after the start against Spurs. Where else gets an atmosphere and crowd like today with 1win this season and just dumped out of the cup by Cambridge. Couldn't ask more from the fans. Other clubs would be empty seats every where and the fans moaning after 20'. Noticed the Watford fans finally pipe up AFTER they scored - guess which set of fans gets rewarded. Sickening.
  21. He's neither got the actual ability nor the football brain to get by. Basically, as many have said, he's just shit that was disguised by the fairy lights of Rafa's organisation. Long thought of him as a Keith Curle. Looks like he should be good, think it fools people, but he's actual naff.
  22. Used to have the Confederations Cup there this time of year in the 90s. European champions Denmark, world champions Brazil, Venables Australia and the USA, Argentina. Batistuta, Ronaldo, Laudrup, Romario, Viduka, Ronaldinho Now they get us. I must have missed the outcry back then.
  23. Been wondering the same too. Happened to someone right behind us at the Stevenage game.
  24. Definitely. Its a really hard position to play if you're not a striker, back to goal just felt completely wrong to me. Even Rob Lee, who ploughed on during an injury crisis, up front looked like a fish out of water. Besides its clearly not working otherwise.
