  1. They want fair market value explained. Simplicitically if Neves can go for £47m with no complaint then a player the same age, from a better team going for considerably less is if anything unfair on us and they can have no complaint.
  2. Club know better than me, maybe see longevity and progress in there that the layman can't, but to me the price was already a bit galling and the player not worth faffing around on so any additional faff I hope we've no time for.
  3. and the widely reported modest figure of between 20-30m, little more than we paid for him years ago, largely ignored in favour of hysterical made up ones along with all the other clubs that Saudi have signed players from so as to have another good old meltdown.
  4. Ha, history repeating. A couple of them had a FTM flag at McCoist's testimonial. Got it taken off them by stewards and shushed by the Rangers fans. Further similarities in the scoreline and the gulf between us and the mackems.
  5. If our most sellable asset only fetches that, the future is pragmatically going to mean trading out a purple to bring another purple in and not a whole lot of building.
  6. And if Cole wasn't a starter and didn't go for a record fee. Its more Kelly/Peacock. One a cult hero the other our best player for the 2years prior but neither guaranteed a start anymore
  7. I'd pay £8 to watch the Ally McCoist testimonial again cracking night that was
  8. That and FFP alone make it a untenable arrangement unfortunately
  9. Yeah, much as I didn't like Bellamy it was balanced by what he delivered and there was only bad about an abject manager - and arsehole himself - forcing him out. *Bramble was shite
  10. I've wondered about that along with Man United having to be wary of ffp after their recent slap on the wrist, the Mbappe situation (where can he go without a pay cut under ffp but Madrid and that might not be straight up) and some people moaning about the Saudi league whether ffp might get a reassessment.
  11. They 'Meyt drawa' with Rotherham next season.
  12. As long as the club is going in the right direction its just one of those things. Not a Beardsley/Gazza/Waddle scenario. David Kelly was my favourite player, Barry Venison was our player of the year and we sold them but the trust in the manager/club superceded any wrench. Even years later with Woodgate, the best defender most of us had ever seen and we weren't going places at the time but the business improved the club (given he was a perma-crock)
  13. Wish I knew what the offset was. Just to fund Harvey Barnes I'd just as soon not but if we can add two for letting ASM go when I think about the minimum of 6 extra top class games with the squad as it stands I just feel were going to be stretched as fuck if we dont fill out. I do think he'd be a lot of fun in Europe next season. (and actually ideal for the Saudi league probably) On the other hand if he's available as much as he was last season we'll be kicking ourselves and the frustration will go through the roof when he does play unless he improves consistency.
  14. Spent last season worried about key injuries (everytime Schar went down e.g.) and felt we were at our limits to play the way we did without being able to rest and alternate much, so with CL football on top of that I think we'd be guaranteed to drop back a bit as things stand. Luckily it would only be temporary (more 1995 than 2004).
  15. Remember that story about the official history of Aston Villa video having a team photo of Burnley on the front? (or was it the other way round?) Villa's strips in my time alternate so much a "Villa strip" isn't really defined except the colours. Claret and Blue then any shirt selection on Kick Off 2 will do. Sleeves, stripes, cluster fuck and nowt.
  16. Yeah. I think the waste of good players like that, that would have belonged at a proper NUFC, was sadder to me than all the planks.
  17. File with Wolves, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Sheffield United, La Liga, Serie A, Neves, Messi, Ronaldo, Benzema, Milinkovic-Savic, Gerrard, Firmino and Fowler taking their money under 'whataboutery' The only entity that takes Saudi money in football that counts is us.
  18. Bring back being able to take commentators off altogether and just go with crowd noise. Sad that when you could do this commentary was generally well regarded.
  19. Its like the SJH/Keegan era where they couldn't leave anything alone, in a good way. Always looking to enhance something. The tunnel, dug outs, the afforementioned lettering on the East Stand, the crest on the Leazes
  20. and just to cover every possible base, they don't want the 'turn coat' types supporting them anyway and its better with just 30,000 loyal fans yet if they were to get bigger gates that shows how massive they are.

    Harvey Barnes

It is a good price for Barnes. Without ffp you'd say it was a no brainer. Is there honey still for tea though. I agree (liked) the essence of that but there are equal non-existent stat fields that would be negative about ASM. Still better to read the game yourself than use stats as a basis, we underestimate our own ability to tell whether a player has played well or not.

    Harvey Barnes

Think its based on games we drew and couldn't break teams down like Leicester and Leeds that on another day get won comfortably with the same performances but generally I was more concerned that our goals often didn't reflect our dominance of games and chances created rather than a problem of creativity.
  23. No point having one as their fanbase is apparently too GQ to wear football shirts. A stylish embroidered SAFC badge on a bowler hat and the inner lining of a three piece suit is more their thing.
  24. Somebody viewable in the background of the cricket on a close up for three seconds minding his own business wearing a Newcastle shirt has attracted their ire today. Definitely not on the edge if that rattles you.
