Was a sort of urban rumour along the lines that Alan Thompson scored from the kick-off a couple times for the reserves

That's a good assessment by Eddie, sums it up really and that's still where we are except I'd downgrade 'great' at this point.

Liked it better when clubs that failed had to sell players than when clubs succeed and have to. Just made sense in every way. But hey ho, there's that, promoted cannon fodder, court room battles and all kinds of dodgy stuff but as long as a couple clubs are protected

Do well at Leicester. Must be the same lads getting the tickets. Blaydon Races even got a run out. What next Howay the Lads.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

Lot of easy games for the other contenders this coming weekend. Will probably have to make do with maintaining the status quo. Everton troubling Forest is the best bet -

Sort of bad game Man United sneak in stoppage time. Or does that not happen when its a benefit?
-
They're where they should be now. Since the war they're 21st overall, since Kennedy was shot 27th, the 10years prior to the PL 23rd and in the PL era 18th. That probably averages out at where they are now. Much as they deride it, 'football didn't start in 1992' and all that, the PL era is a pinnacle of league performance for them in the last 75years the only count by which they'd be in a top 20. Would be better off pretending football did start in 1992.

Besides anything else I think Gordon off the bench is cracking option for the time being too.

They've definitely distorted rules in Arsenal's favour - I mean every change that's made they're one of the few that always benefit - its just whether that was a coincidence or favour. All this chaos is basically to suit Arsenal and co.

Until I seen it just now would never have even considered Quahsah but can really see it now if he's wanting out. Position we need and just the age we look at.
-
Still managed a better record than them through the decade tragically enough
-
They're going to lose a relegation level amount of games this season. Liverpool, Forest, Villa, Brighton still to come, 16 defeats already, not that you'd rule Wolves, Palace, West Ham and the like out
-
Probably Ange's worst tactical move yet - to get on the fans that were getting on you for a substitution only to have the goal then ruled out
-
Its like that season Arsenal and Chelsea were as bad as Spurs are now, horrible to watch and bottom half and both got to the Cup Winners Cup semis. Thank heavens for Real Zaragoza. A former player scoring from the halfway line in the last minute against them would make it worth it.

Bit like Leeds above, beaten us once in over 20years, Bruce loses twice to them in as many months
-
Tragically I think some of them make infinitely more fuss about a potential link to Ath. Bilbao's kit than Notts County do about their well known factual connection to Juventus'. Boca Juniors strip was based on the sail flag of a Swedish ship. You don't hear Olaf on the Newcastle to Gothenburg ferry banging on about it.

Didn't do Glenn Hoddle any harm there

Used to be brutal just getting through one weekend with just the Nationwide league on because of internationals. -
This must be how it feels to be a Spurs fan. Wanting them to win but having absolutely no belief that they will. Outside of the bottom three there's nobody I'd have less faith in.

Aston Villa 89/90 is a shout. In the middle of being relegation material either side went and finished 2nd - top as late as late March. Other than David Platt and Paul McGrath who were good the regulars were - Ian Olney, Ian Ormondroyd, Chris Price, Stuart Gray, Paul Birch, Kent Nielson, Derek Mountfield, a decripit Gordon Cowans, Tony Daley and Kevin Gage. No marks who never did anything again. Going against a Liverpool that included: Rush, Aldridge, Barnes, Beardsley, Grobelaar, Whelan, Nicol, McMahon, Molby and Alan Hansen.

Reckon it must have took everything he had to surpress the cup win and been tipped over the edge by reported attendee numbers at the subsequent parade to get obsessive and rattled about it like that.
-
People talk about Saturday but you couldn't move in town when they lost to Luton in the play offs a couple season back, apparently.

Sheffield United, Southampton, Leicester, Ipswich and Burnley abided by these stupid rules and you just have to marvel at the competitiveness that was created as they all went down with less than a whimper. Forest decided not to follow the rules and took the risk of a points hit and are a thriving enterprise now. But that's bad. Its far better, fairer and competitive if clubs that come up just follow the rules, give up and let themselves be humiliated for a year,
