Pre-season games at St James'. The 'SELA Cup' 5th & 6th August. Nice, Villareal and Fiorentina.

How we only won that match 1-0, God only knows. It was a massacre from start to finish.

A PIF-linked shirt sponsor thrown in to sweeten the deal and keep us onside for FFP?
-
Last time we announced a sponsorship (Noon 27th June) we signed Botman four days later. Here's hoping....

There used to be boxes in the East Stand, so there must be some infrastructure still there. https://www.nufc.co.uk/media/24290/st-james-park-takes-shape-by-the-late-80s.jpg

Liverpool fans conveniently forget they were owned by the owners of the Football Pools in the days before the National Lottery. Everyone did the Pools back then, it was massive. All other clubs were owned by the local butcher, they had a massive advantage.

He doesn't strike me as a leader.
-
Me neither. It's all about Craig Hope. He could have sat on the Fraser in the reserves story in Cup Final week but couldn't wait to get it out there.

The number of home fans there yesterday with half and half scarves on was embrassing. It looked like a huge number of their support were day trippers.

Making stadiums all seater was the game changer for atmosphere's in England. When I started going regularly in 1980, St James was split into three groups. 15 - 35's behind the goals, middle aged blokes in the paddocks and pensioners and the well off in the seats. You didn't see lasses, pensioners or little kids in the Gallowgate in those days. It was rowdy and lawless and people could get away with stuff in there they couldn't elsewhere. You'd get pushed, shoved and pissed on and any coppers that ventured in, walked out with their coats covered in spit. There was rivalry between the Scoreboard and The Corner who used to egg eachother on to sing and they both used to egg on the East Stand where the Red Indian warbler was. The most you got from the West stand was them stamping their feet on the wooden floor if we got a corner, which did make a decent noise. Having like-minded people in designated area's is definitely the way forward and the singing sections definitely need priority in the lower bowl, there's no point in putting them in Level 7.

One for the pet hates thread

There's a chance this game gets moved to an alternative date due to the Ambulance strike unless the club can source private ambulances and staff.

Not really a travesty. He was rightly behind the likes of Tony Adams, Terry Butcher and Des Walker in the pecking order. Plus Bruce was painfully slow.
-
He's the softest, most passive footballer I've ever seen. His win percentage on challenges must be zero.

He hasn't been the same since his howler at the Euro's. https://twitter.com/itvfootball/status/1407739546742267913?lang=en-GB
